In principle, for this the same operating instructions apply as for all
AQUATRACE IV devices.
However, some special features are to be considered when using and
operating the battery device:
The AT IV-LA is provided for mobile use with Li / Ion battery pack. The battery pack is
internally equipped with protective circuit against deep discharge and overcharging.
When loading a balancer works and ensures equal cell voltage.
Alternatively, the stationary use with a fixed power supply is possible. A 230 V power
supply is permanently installed. By means of this power supply also the battery pack
is charging.
Switchover between mains and battery mode is automatic when the battery-toggle
switch is set to ON. Thus, a measurement will be continued even after power failure
without external action. Likewise can be work in battery mode with decreasing battery
voltage by plugging into the mains recharging the battery without measurement
interruption.
1.Battery mode
- Battery-toggle switch to ON
- Press the START button for about 2 seconds
- Key lighting indicates the battery status (green lights - is the normal state)
- Windows and application starts automatically and the unit is then ready for
operation
- In measurement mode, the remaining power is displayed as a %-value in
the lower right corner of channel 1. This value is an approximate value and
depends on the current flow through the measuring cell and the charge
state of the battery pack.
- 2 options are provided to switch off the device:
> Press the START button again for about 2 seconds

System is going down, button ring stays on, battery-monitoring remains
active
or
> Press START for approximately 10 seconds
System shuts down, monitoring is also switched off.
- If the device is not used for a long time, the battery-toggle switch should be
set to OFF. Just so no standby power flows and the remaining battery
energy remains stored.
2.Mains power mode
- The AT IV-LA can work like a normal laboratory equipment (even in
continuous working).
- Battery-toggle switch to OFF
- Connect power plug to the 230V mains supply
- Press the START button for about 2 seconds
- button lighting shows GREEN
- to measure the battery capacity isn’t possible in this mode
battery-Toggle Switch OFF –display is showing 0%
- to switch off press the START button for about 10 seconds, the system
shuts down
3.Mains power mode with battery charge
If during normal mains power mode the battery toggle switch is turned ON, the
charging circuit is activated. The illuminated ring shows the current battery voltage.
Charging time: about 4 to 6 hours.
The integrated charging circuit works always at plugged the mains when the battery-
toggle switch is set to ON, even if the application is closed and Windows is shut
down.
If the ATIV-LA several days powered at 230V mains battery-toggle switch should be
set to OFF.

LED ring is illuminated GREEN - Battery state normal (or mains operation ON)
LED ring flashes GREEN - further operation with battery is possible,
reloding is required
Flashes GREEN and buzzer - reloading or quit now required
Flashing RED and buzzer - measurement is stopped, power is turned off
monitoring remains active => Battery charge
required !!
5. Solving problems
PC doesn‘t start,
button Start lights GREEN - Press button again for about 2 seconds
PC doesn‘t start,
button flashes GREEN or RED - Battery voltage is too low => Reloading
required
