INTRODUCTION
You have made an excellent choice in selecting the Dometic Absorption Refrigerator.
We are sure that ou will be full satisfied with our new appliance in all respects.
The appliance, which works silentl , meets high qualit standards and guarantees
the efficient utilisation of resources and energ throughout its entire life c cle, during
manufacture, in use and when being disposed of.
Before ou start to use the appliance, please read the installation and operating
instructions carefull .
The refrigerator is designed for installation in motorcaravans.
The appliance has been certified for this application in accordance with
EU Gas Directive 90/396/EEC.

Warning and safety n tices
Never use a naked flame to check the appliance for leaks.
Pr tect children!
When disposing of the refrigerator, remove all refrigerator doors and leave the
storage rack in the refrigerator. This will prevent accidental locking in or suffocation.
If ou smell gas:
- close the locking tap of the gas suppl and the valve on the c linder.
- open the windows and leave the room.
- do not switch on an thing electrical.
- extinguish naked flames.
Never open the cooling unit; it is under high pressure.
W rk n the gas, flue system and electrical c mp nents must nly be carried
ut by auth rised service pers nnel.
It is imperative that the operating pressure should correspond to the data given on
the model plate of the appliance.
Compare the operating pressure data given on the model plate with the data on the
pressure monitor of the liquid gas c linder.
Liquid gas c linders ma onl be changed b qualified personnel.
Gas operation of the appliance is not permitted while travelling on ferries.
Covers ensure electrical safet and must onl be removed using a tool.
The appliance must not be exposed to rain.
The refrigerator is not suitable for the proper storage of medications.

Ammonia is used as a coolant.
This is a natural compound also used in household cleaning agents (1 litre of
Salmiak cleaner contains up to 200g of ammonia - about twice as much as is used in
the refrigerator). Sodium chromate is used for corrosion protection (less than 2% of the
coolant).

WARRANTY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
Warrant arrangements are in accordance with EC Directive 44/1999/CE and the
normal conditions applicable for the countr concerned. For warrant or other servi
cing, please contact our Dometic Service department. An damage due to improper
use is not covered b the warrant . The warrant does not cover an modifications to
the appliance or the use of non-original Dometic parts;
the warrant does not appl if the installation and operating instructions are not
adhered to and no liabilit shall be entertained. Parts can be ordered throughout
Europe from our Dometic Service department. Your service centre contact numbers
are found in the European Service Network booklet.
When contacting Dometic Service, please state the model and product numbers,
together with the MLC Code, if applicable. You will find this information on the data
plate inside the refrigerator.
Damage in transit
After removing the packaging, check whether the refrigerator has been damaged
during transportation.
An damage sustained in transit must be reported to the transportation compan
concerned no later than seven da s after deliver of the goods.

Cleaning
Before using the refrigerator, it is advisable to clean the appliance both inside and
out.
Use a soft cloth and lukewarm water with a mild detergent.
Then rinse the appliance with clean water and dr thoroughl .
Remove dust from the refrigerator unit at earl intervals using a brush or soft cloth.
To avoid deterioration of materials:
Do not use soap or hard, abrasive or soda-based cleaning agents.
Do not allow the door seal to come into contact with oil or grease.

Using the refrigerat r
The refrigerator is silent in operation.
When the appliance is first put into operation, there ma be a mild odour which will
disappear after a few hours. Ensure the living area is well ventilated.
The freezer compartment should be cold about one hour after switching on the
refrigerator.
The refrigerator will take several hours to reach its operating temperature.

The refrigerator is equipped with an automatic energ selection s stem (AES). When
the refrigerator is switched on, the s stem selects the available energ source in the
order : 1.) 230-240V ~

3.) liquid gas

Switching n
The refrigerator must be operated exclusivel with liquid gas
(propane, butane).
1. Open the valve of the gas c linder
2. Open the shut-off valve to the gas suppl .

The refrigerat r must exclusively be perated using liquid gas
(pr pane, butane).
Gas operation is selected in the following circumstances:
N supply v ltage available.
The vehicle engine is n t running.
Supply v ltage less than 200V, r battery v ltage less than 11V
When the s stem chooses LP-Gas operation, the flame failure device is automaticall
opened, allowing gas to flow to the burner. At the same time, the electronic igniter is
energized.
If the flame is blown out (b a gust of wind, for example), the reigniter responds
immediatel and reignites the gas.
After initial installation, servicing, or changing gas c linders etc., the gas pipes
ma contain some air that should be allowed to escape b briefl turning on the
refrigerator or other gas appliances e.g. cooker. This will ensure that the flame
lights immediatel .

Gas faults
In the event of a gas fault (e.g. gas c linder
empt ), a red light flashes on the AES operating
displa (B).

1. Is there an gas in the gas bottle?
2. Is the gas bottle valve open?
3. Is the on-board shut-off valve open?
If ok then go to point 4
4. Set the main switch (A) to on
The AES attempts reignition again after about 10 seconds.
If after ab ut 30 sec nds the AES perating display (C) starts flashing red
again, the gas fault has n t been cleared (e.g. air in the gas pipe).
5. Briefly switch the refrigerat r ff and then n again using main switch (A).
T rem ve air fr m the gas pipes, repeat this pr cedure 3-4 times.
If these acti ns d n t help, please call an auth rised D metic Service
centre.
If a gas operation fault arises and is not noticed before the refrigerator switches
to, sa , 230V mode because of a priorit change, the AES LED (B) will light up
green again, provided that the cooling function is re-activated. However, the
next time it is desired to change to gas operation mode, the fault will once again be
displa ed and gas operation will not start, because statutor provisions prohibit
automatic re-setting of the appliance.

If sufficient suppl voltage is available (more than 200V), this power source is
selected as the first option.
FOR THIS POWER OPTION, TOO, THE 12V CONTINUOUS SUPPLY IS NEEDED IN ORDER FOR
THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM TO OPERATE.

The AES will onl select 12V operation if the vehicle engine is running and a voltage
higher than 11V is present. (This is detected via the electronic D+ connection).

Switching ver / time delays
There are some built-in time dela s when switching between power suppl options.
Refuelling st p: In order to prevent unintended switching to gas operation
during refuelling, the AES electronic s stem starts gas operation of the refrigerator,
after the motor has been turned off for 15 min.
The use of naked flames is prohibited in petrol station environments.
If the refuelling stop lasts longer than 15 min., the refrigerator should be
switched off at the main switch (A).
Underv ltage perati n
If the electrical suppl voltage in 230V or 12V operation is not sufficient to maintain the
cooling function, the AES switches to gas operation.
This state is signalled b the undervoltage LED (C, ellow) lighting up. If gas operation
is selected due to undervoltage, the refrigerator remains in gas
operation for 30 min., in order to prevent
continual switching back and forth between
power modes. After 30 min. of gas opera-
tion, the electronic s stem checks the avai-
lable voltage at regular intervals. If the
suppl voltage is sufficient again, the
refrigerator switches back to 230V or 12V operation as the case ma be.

If the refrigerator is to be taken out of service for an extended period of
time, the on-board shut-off valve and the c linder valve must be closed.

Defr sting
As time goes b , frost builds up on the fins.
When the la er of frost is about 3mm thick, the refrigerator should be defrosted.
1. Switch off the refrigerator, as described in Section 5.3 - "Switching off".
2. Remove the ice cube tra and food.
3. Leave the refrigerator door open.
4. After defrosting (freezer compartment and fins free of frost), wipe the cabinet dr
with a cloth.
5. Use a cloth to mop up the water from the freezer compartment.
6. Switch the refrigerator back on again.
The la er of ice must never be removed forcibl , nor ma defrosting be
accelerated using a heat source.
Note:
Water thawing in the main compartment of the refrigerator runs into an appropriate
container at the back of the refrigerator. From there, the water evaporates.

Alwa s store food in sealed containers, aluminium foil or similar.
Never put hot food into the refrigerator; alwa s let it cool first.
Products that could emit volatile, flammable gases must not be stored in the
refrigerator.
The two-star freezer compartment is suitable for making ice cubes and for short-term
storage of frozen food.
It is not suitable as a means of freezing foods.
Making ice cubes
Ice cubes are best frozen overnight. At night, the refrigerator has less work to do and
the unit has more reserves.

This protects the unit from excessivel cold air.

service for an extended period of time.

Tr ublesh ting
Maintenance
EN 1949 stipulates that the appliance´s gas equipment and its associated fume
s stem must be inspected after installation and a certificate issued.
Afterwards a qualified technician must inspect according to EN 1949 ever two
ears and a certificate issued. It is the users responsibilit to arrange for
inspections after purchase.
It is recommended that the gas burner be inspected and cleaned at
least once a ear.

Envir nmental hints
Refrigerators manufactured b Dometic GmbH are CFC-free.
Ammonia (a natural compound of h drogen and nitrogen) is used in the cooling unit
as a coolant. The non-ozone-hazardous c clopentan is used as a propellant in the
manufacture of the PU foam insulation.
Disp sal
In order to ensure that the rec clable packaging materials are re-used, these should
be sent to the usual local collection s stem.
The appliance should be transferred to a suitable waste disposal compan that will
ensure re-use of the rec clable components and proper disposal of the rest.
For eco-friendl draining of the coolant from all absorber refrigeration units, a suitable
disposal plant should be used.
Energy-saving tips
At an average ambient temperature of approx. 25°C, it is sufficient to operate the
refrigerator at the middle thermostat setting (for both gas and mains voltage).
Where possible, alwa s store goods that have previousl been cooled.
Do not position the refrigerator in direct sunlight.
Constant circulation of air must be supplied to the refrigerator unit.
Defrost regularl .
Open the door onl for a short time when removing goods from the refrigerator.
Run the refrigerator for about 12 hours before filling it.

INSTALLATION GUIDE
On installation of the appliance, the technical and administrative regulations of the
countr in which the vehicle will first be used must be adhered to. Otherwise the
refrigerator must be installed as described in these instructions. In some OEM appli-
cations it ma not be possible for these instructions to be followed exactl . In this case
an authorised Dometic representative ma issue supplementar instruction
In Eur pe, f r example, gas appliances, cable laying, installati n f gas
cylinders, as well as appr val and checking f r leaks must c mply with
DIN EN 1949 f r liquid gas units in vehicles.
Installati n
The appliance and its fume extraction shall be installed in such a wa as to be acces-
sible for servicing at all times and must be capable of eas removal and installation.
The appliance may nly be installed by auth rised pers nnel.

The appliance shall be installed in such a way that it is shielded fr m
excessive heat radiati n.
Excessive heat impairs performance and raises the energ consumption of the
refrigerator.
Side Installati n
If the appliance is installed on the same side of the vehicle as the entrance
door, it is desirable that the door does not cover the refrigerators vents.
If this cannot be avoided there must be a gap of at least 25mm between the door and
the vents.
Rear installati n
If the refrigerator is mounted at the rear of the vehicle ou must ensure the lower grille
is not covered b the bumper or rear lights.
This would be prevent the air from circulating properl and cause problems in
warm weather.

Draught-free installati n
Your refrigerator must be sealed in accordance with EN 1949.
Illustrated below are two t pical approved methods of sealing.
Pr p sal 1:
Insert lipped seals (A) into the installation reces-
ses at the bottom and at each side.
Insert deflector plate (B), fitted with a lipped seal
(A) of heav -dut , non- flammable material, into
the installation recess (see Fig. 1).
Insert deflector plate (B) in such a wa that the
hot air escapes through the air vent grille into the
open air.
Affix the discharge plate to the caravan wall, not
to the refrigerator!
In addition, discharge plate (B) with its lipped seal
(A) must seal the refrigerator off from the living
area (see Fig. 1).
Ensure that the refrigerator is installed level in the
recess.
Pr p sal 2:
Another option is to provide the refrigerator with a cowl
(A). The cowl (A) should ideall be affixed to the caravan
wall, not to the refrigerator. Insert sealing strips at the bot-
tom and sides of the cover.
Finall , push the refrigerator into the cover from the front.
Both of these installation options facilitate the removal
and installation of the appliance for servicing.
C mment:
Other methods of sealing ma be approved. However the
chosen method must prevent draughts entering the living space of the motorhome.
Failure to seal correctl will allow warm air to collect around the refrigerator and its
performance will be affected.
If the cavit between the caravan wall and the refrigerator is sealed so that fumes
cannot penetrate the living area it is possible to vent the flue gas directl through the
upper grille without using the aluminium flue pipe. For this installation method, it is
recommended that the same air vent grille should be used at the top and at the
bottom (L200), and that the T-piece of the flue pipe is turned 45 degrees.

If even with draught-free installation a fume chimne is desirable, ou must incorpor-
te the L100 ventilation and extraction s stem into the upper air vent opening.
Installation of fume chimne : please refer to point 6.7.
Ventilati n and extracti n
A correct installation is important for correct operation of the appliance to ensure,
there is no a build-up of heat at the back of the appliance; this heat must be allowed
to escape into the open air.
In the event f high ambient temperatures, full perf rmance f the c ling unit
can nly be achieved by means f adequate ventilati n and extracti n.
Ventilation is provided for the unit b means of two apertures in the caravan wall.
Fresh air enters at the bottom, extracts the heat and exits through the upper
grille.
The upper ventilation grille should be positioned as high as possible above
condenser (A).
The lower ventilation grating should be flush with the fl r f the vehicle, allowing
an gas leakages (heavier than air) to escape directl into the open air.
If such an arrangement is not possible a hole must be provided under the refrigerator
(not close to the burner) so that an leaking LP gas can escape. This must have an
effictive area of at least 13cm². It is desirable to fit the hole with wire mesh or similar,
and an angle plate to protect it from stones, mud etc., the wire mesh must not reduce
the effective area of 13cm²
The ventilati n grilles must have a free cr ss-secti nal area f at least
250 cm2.

If the distance between the wall and the refrigerator is greater than 20 mm the gap
can be reduced to 20 mm b fitting a suitable baffle piece.
