2.1. Prior to Installation
Before commencing wi h he ins alla ion of your
Dovre appliance, i is recommended ha hese
ins ruc ions are read and clearly unders ood.
WARNING!
AS THE APPLIANCE IS CONSTRUCTED FROM REAL
CAST IRON, WHICH IS HEAVY, PARTICULAR CARE
SHOULD BE TAKEN WHEN LIFTING THE UNIT.
GLASS IS BREAKABLE! EXTRA CARE SHOULD BE
TAKEN TO AVOID ACCIDENTS AND BREAKAGE.
2.2. npacking and Assembly.
Carefully remove all packing ma erials including
wooden palle . Care should be aken o read any
warning labels supplied. Re ain all packaging ma erial
un il you are sa isfied ha he ins alla ion has been
comple ed.
Iden ify he separa e packages con aining he loose
coals, ashlip and plas ic glove.
Posi ion he appliance in he required loca ion.
The ashlip is secured by wo 10mm bol s which can be
loca ed undernea h he fron cas ing.
Place he coal pack on a sui ably pro ec ed surface in
fron of he appliance. To pro ec your hand use he
plas ic glove provided when handling he coal pack or
loose coals.
Open he glass door (See fig 1).
Place he individual coals on he plas ic fuel effec base.
(See fig 1) The smaller pieces should be placed a he
fron and he remaining coals arranged evenly over he
surface. Ensure ha he rear-mos pieces are res ing
agains he glass-viewing screen.

1.2. Description
Cas iron hea ing appliance incorpora ing a coal effec
inser powered by 2 x 40 wa lamps, a small low
wa age mo or and a 2kW fan appliance.
1.3. Principle of operation
The appliance is opera ed from a concealed con rol
panel loca ed behind he lower door.
The buil in fan appliance is hermos a ically
con rolled wi h ou pu s of 1 or 2 kW.
The appliance may be used wi h he fan appliance in
he on or off posi ion whils he flame effec is
swi ched on.

There are a number of impor an safe y precau ions o
observe when using an elec ric appliance. By carrying
ou he following safe y checks, he risks of appliance
failure, injuries and elec ric shocks are avoided.
If he appliance is damaged, do no ins all and repor
he damage immedia ely o your supplier.
Operation
■ The appliance mus no be used in ba hrooms,
shower rooms or swimming pool areas.
■ The appliance mus no be used o dry clo hes. Do
no place any ma erials on he appliance.
■ The air circula ion mus no be obs ruc ed by
cur ains or o her fabrics, causing he uni o overhea
hereby crea ing a risk of fire. Ensure ha furni ure,
cur ains or o her combus ible ma erial are posi ioned
NO closer han 1 me re from he appliance.
■ Do no leave children wi h access o he appliance.
Ensure ha young children are no lef unsupervised
in he vicini y of he appliance.
■ The appliance should be unplugged from he socke
if no required for use for long periods of ime.
■ The supply cord should no be allowed o be in
fron of he appliance.
■ Al hough his appliance complies wi h safe y
s andards, we do no recommend i s use on deep pile
carpe s or long hair rugs.
4 Instructions for se
OPERATING THE APPLIANCE
Connec he appliance o your elec ric supply.
The con rols are loca ed behind he lower door (see
fig1 page 3).
Flame Effect
Press swi ch o he ON posi ion. (A swi ch is in he
ON posi ion when he red indica or mark on he
swi ch is visible). The flame effec will now opera e.
Heating nit
You have a choice of low hea (1kW) or high hea
(2kW) ou pu .
Both settings have thermostat temperature control.
In order o opera e hea ing, swi ch mus be in he
ON posi ion (see fig 3)
Low Heat Setting
Wi h swi ch in he ON posi ion, press swi ch
o ON.
The 1kW hea ou pu is con rolled by he hermos a ,
which should be se o maximum (see Thermos a
opera ion).
High Heat Setting
Wi h swi ches and in he ON posi ion, press
swi ch o ON.
The 2kW hea ou pu is con rolled by he hermos a ,
which should be se o maximum
(see Thermos a opera ion).
2.3. Preparing the unit for use
The appliance mus only be used on an supply
and he vol age marked on he appliance mus
correspond wi h he supply vol age. Your Dovre
appliance is fi ed wi h a re-wireable plug
incorpora ing a 13-amp fuse. When replacing he fuse,
ensure ha a 13-amp fuse approved by ASTA o
BS1362 is used.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE
EARTHED
IMPORTANT: in he even of he plug fi ed being
unsui able for your socke , he 13-amp plug should be
removed.
Before wiring he appropria e plug, he following
codes should be no ed: (see fig 2)
E. Earth - Green-Yellow
L. Live - Brown
N. Neutral - Blue
BL E - NE TRAL
BROWN - LIVE
GREEN & YELLOW - EARTH
If he wire colours in he main leads of your Dovre
appliance are differen o he coloured marking
iden ifying he erminals on your plug, proceed as
follows:

If a 3 pin 15amp plug is used his should be pro ec ed
by a 15amp fuse ei her in he plug or adap er or a he
dis ribu ion board. If in doub consul your Elec rici y
Board or a compe en elec rician. Your appliance is
now ready for use and may be plugged in o a wall
socke .
Before switching on, please read the safety advice
and operating instructions.
3. Safety checks
■ The appliance mus no be used ou doors.

■ The appliance mus be posi ioned so ha he plug is
accessible.

To remove he accumula ion of dus or fluff he sof
brush a achmen of a vacuum cleaner should
occasionally be used o clean he ou le grille of he fan
appliance loca ed under he s ove (see page 3 fig 1).
To clean he fuel effec , remove and wash he coal
pieces in warm wa er. The plas ic ray should be
wiped clean wi h a damp clo h. When dry replace he
coal pieces and arrange as previously described for bes
effec .

Your produc is guaran eed for one year from da e of
purchase. We under ake o exchange or repair free of
charge wi hin his period, any par (excluding lamps)
found o be defec ive due o a manufac uring faul .
Should you require af er sales service, please ge in
ouch wi h your Dovre Dealer.
Please do no ini ially re urn a faul y appliance or par
of an appliance o us as his may resul in ransi
damage and/or delay in providing service. Le your
Dovre Dealer know your difficul y, quo ing he model
number and series le er of he appliance. We will

8. Spare par s
Spare par s are available from your Dovre Dealer.
When ordering spare par s, specify he ype and
Serial number of he appliance.
If he appliance should prove o be defec ive wi hin
one year of he purchase da e, he uni will be repaired
free of charge, subjec o he following condi ions.
1. The purchaser shall comple e he regis ra ion
sec ion below and re urn i wi hin seven days of he
purchase. Failure o re urn he regis ra ion could resul
in delays processing claims.
2. The appliance shall have been ins alled in
compliance wi h he ins alla ion ins ruc ions.

Thermostat Operation
The hermos a con rols he hea ou pu according o
he room empera ure. This ensures ha he appliance
will no produce hea unnecessarily when he room is
warm.
To se he empera ure you require, urn he
hermos a knob fully clockwise o max posi ion.
When he room is warm enough, urn he knob back
slowly un il he hermos a jus clicks off. The
appliance will now main ain your selec ed
empera ure.
Note: Once the thermostat has switched the appliance OFF
it may take some time before the appliance comes back on.
This does not mean that the appliance is faulty.
Thermal Safety Cut-out
A hermal safe y cu -ou is incorpora ed in he
appliance o preven damage due o overhea ing.
This can happen if he hea ou le is res ric ed in any
way. The appliance will swi ch on once he
obs ruc ion has been removed and he appliance has
cooled. If he cu -ou con inues o opera e
in ermi en ly, he appliance should be swi ched off
and a service agen con ac ed.
WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT
FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE
ATTEMPTING ANY MAINTENANCE.
5. Lamp replacement
The Coal Effec lamps can be replaced by removing
he 2 self apping screws loca ed a he fron of he
effec (see fig 4). The screws can be accessed by
removing 2 plas ic s oppers si ua ed be ween he glass
door and he lower door (page 3 fig 1) and inser ing a
small Pozidrive screwdriver hrough he fron cas ing
loca ing he self apping screws.
Lif he fuel effec up ligh ly o clear he ledge a he
base of he glass viewing screen, il one end up firs
and hen lif he fuel effec ou of he appliance casing.
Carefully ro a e he lamp an i-clockwise un il i comes
ou of i s holder (see fig 5)
Replace he defec ive lamp wi h a 240V, 40 wa E14
SES clear candle lamp, ro a ing he lamp clockwise in
he holder un il i is fully home. Do no over- igh en.
Refi he fuel effec comple e wi h fixing plugs,
ensuring ha he rear edge loca es on he ledge a he
base of he glass viewing screen, hen refi he coals
(see page 3).
6. Maintenance
6.1. CLEANING
Before commencing cleaning, unplug he appliance
and allow i o cool.
The surface of he appliance should be given an
occasional wipe over wi h a sof brush. A number of
sui able cas iron s ove polishes are available from your
Dovre Dealer.
The glass screen should be cleaned carefully wi h a
chamois lea her DO NOT use proprie ary glass
cleaners.
