Instruction Manual
Rainfall Instrument
—Medallion Series—
Model #3050
Rainfall Instrument
-Medallion & Classic Series-
The rain collector sends a signal to the rainfall meter of .01 inch of
rain for every 'tip' of the rain mechanism located inside the rain
collector. There is no need to empty the rain bucket as it is self-
emptying. Freezing weather will not damage the collector, however
the readings will be inaccurate. Every few months, clean the
strainer of leaves and other debris to keep the readings accurate.
BOX CONTENTS:
1 - Rainfall Instrument
1 - Rain collector, self-tipping with 60' of wire
1 - 6Volt AC Power Supply
TO INSTALL:
1-Place the collector on the base, line up the screw holes and
tighten until snug. *DON'T OVER TIGHTEN*
2-Remove the shipping tape from the screen
3-Mount the collector on a flat, level surface in an open area with
NO over-hanging obstructions
4-Mount the bucket base using the 4 screws provided
5-Run the wire from the bucket to the location of the Rainfall
Instrument.
6-Run the wire through a conduit if it needs to go underground
7-At the rear of the instrument, connect a new 9Volt battery to the
two terminals at the TOP
8-Connect the wire from the rain collector to the two terminals on
the BOTTOM LEFT
9- (Optional) Connect the 6Volt AC power supply wires to the
terminals on the BOTTOM RIGHT. During a power outage the
instrument will switch to battery back up and run off the 9Volt
battery for about 48 Hours before losing its memory.
INSTRUMENT IS FACTORY CALIBRATED: ALTERING IT
IN ANY WAY WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY
TO OPERATE:
The LEFT button (as you face the instrument) switches the reading
from CURRENT to ANNUAL.
The RIGHT button the RESET button.
Push and hold for 5 seconds to reset the CURRENT or ANNUAL
reading, and the digital display will start again at 0.
Be sure the instrument is showing the reading you want to reset
BEFORE you push and hold the Reset button! If you want to clear
the 'Current' memory, make sure the instrument is showing the
'Current' reading and the 'Current' light is on, THEN push and hold
the RESET button. You don’t want to clear the wrong reading, you
can't get it back!
Please call with any questions regarding installation or operation of
this instrument.
