Warning

Installation
1. Rem ve the fr nt c ver using a flat screwdriver and separate
fr m back plate (Fig 1).
2. Fix the back plate directly nt the wall using suitable wall
plugs and screws r m unt ver existing wall b x (Fig 2).
3. C mplete the wiring acc rding t the c nnecti n suggesti ns
sh wn in (Fig 3). F r Basic b iler, C mbi b iler and Basic
b iler with z ne valve applicati ns Digistat+2 with battery r
mains supply are suitable.
F r Electric Heat applicati n use Digistat+2 with mains supply nly.
4. Replace the fr nt c ver by l cating in p siti n and pushing
fully nt the back c ver (Fig 4).
5. Rem ve the battery c ver using a c in (Fig 5). Battery m del nly.
6. Install the 2 AA batteries pr vided (Fig 6). Battery m del nly.
7. Replace battery c ver (fig 7). Battery m del nly.
8. The Digistat+2 is n w installed and will aut matically start t
c ntr l the r m temperature acc rding t the pre-set
pr gram 1 as sh wn in the User Guide.
The display sh ws the c rrect time and date which is
aut matically set t gether with the actual r m temperature.

Digistat+2 pr grammable r m therm stat all ws y u t set
time and temperature peri ds (up t 6 per day) t suit y ur wn
lifestyle. Once fully installed and p wered the Digistat+2 will
aut matically set the c rrect time and in aut m de will c ntr l
y ur heating system acc rding t pre-set pr gram 1 (9 till 5).
The temperature is c ntr lled by sensing air temperature,
switching n the heating when the air temperature falls bel w
the therm stat setting and switching it ff nce this set
temperature has been reached.

How to change the temperature for a short time (Override).
When in Aut m de y u can verride the existing temperature
setting by pressing + r -. During adjustment the temperature will
flash then st p. The Digistat+2 will n w c ntr l at this
temperature until the next pr grammed time/temperature event is
reached, when the Digistat+2 will revert back t Aut m de.
Whilst in temperature verride the p inter indicates b th Man and
Aut . T exit verride press > t return t Aut . (Fig 1) sh ws
Digistat+2 in verride.
How to set a constant room temperature (Manual mode).
Manual m de will all w y u t set a temperature, ver-riding all
pr grams, until y u exit manual m de. In this m de all pre-set
time temperature events will be disabled.
T enter manual m de press < until the p inter indicates MAN
(Fig 2). The screen will nly sh w the temperature, which can be
adjusted by pressing + r -.
Once y u have set the temperature it will flash f r 5 sec nds and
then st p. The Digistat+2 will n w c ntr l at this temperature until
y u adjust using + r - r exit by pressing > t enter Aut m de.

How to set my room temperature for my holiday period.
(Holiday Mode)
When g ing n h liday y u can l wer the temperature f y ur
h me f r the durati n f y ur h liday, but set Digistat+2 t
return t y ur n rmal pr gramming ready f r y ur return.
H liday m de w rks by c unting d wn the days r h ur until
y ur return.
Time peri ds f between 1 t 24hr then 1 day t 199 days can
be set.
Example
I am ready to leave for my 2 week (14 day) holiday and would like
the house temperature held at a constant 10 0 ºC during this time
and on my return the house temperature will be already running
at my normal pre-set temperature
T enter H liday m de press the < butt n until the p inter is
indicating HOL (fig 3). The temperature will flash and by pressing
the + r - butt ns y u can change t the temperature required
(in this example t 10.0 ºC) (Fig 3a).
Then press < again t set the time peri d.(in this example 14
days) using the + r - butt ns. (it w uld be advisable in this
example t set the time peri d 1 day less (13 days) t ensure the
h use temperature is back t n rmal n y ur return). (Fig 3b)
Once y u have set y ur time peri d the time will flash f r 10
sec nds and then start the h liday peri d. T exit the H liday
m de press either < r > t return t aut m de.
When changing time the display will scr ll thr ugh Hr (H urs)
1-24 then d (Days) 1-99.
The display will sh w h liday time peri d and set temperature.

Battery Model only.
How do I know when to change the batteries.
When the batteries start t run l w a battery ic n will blink f r
15 sec nds every 15 sec nds t indicate “l w battery” during this
time the Digistat+2 will functi n n rmally (see fig 4).
Please replace batteries with (2 x AA 1.5V Alkaline batteries).
After 6 m nths the Digistat+2 will cease t functi n and will
permanently display the battery ic n and n thing else, sh wn in (fig 5).

How to change the time, day, month & year.
Digistat+2 c mes with a pre-set cl ck, which als aut matically
adjusts f r summer/winter time changes. It is activated
aut matically n 1st installati n. There sh uld be n need t
change these settings, h wever, sh uld y u wish t , it can be
d ne in cl ck m de.
T enter the cl ck m de press > t m ve thr ugh Day and all 6
time/temperature events until the arr w p ints t the cl ck
symb l. The time will n w flash and can be adjusted (Fig 7) by
pressing + r - then press > t accept and m ve t Day.

Display Error code E1 or E2.
When the display sh ws E1 r E2 this indicates a sens r fault
and y ur heating system will remain Off. Please c ntact y ur
installer.
How to select another pre-set time/temperature program.
There are 3 pre-set time/temperature pr grams already held in
mem ry as sh wn, if pre-set pr gram 1 is the best pr gram t
suit y ur lifestyle d n thing and the Digistat+2 will c ntr l t
pr gram 1.
If y u w uld like t select ne f the ther pre-set pr grams,
refer t ‘H w t change User Opti ns’, Opti n 3 and select y ur
preferred pr gram.
How to replace the batteries see fig 6.
Rem ve the battery c ver using a c in. Replace the spent
batteries with 2 x AA 1.5V alkaline batteries ensuring c rrect
rientati n. Replace the battery c ver pressing fully h me.

What is a programmable room
thermostat?
...an explanati n f r h useh lders
A programmable room thermostat is both a programmer
and a room thermostat A programmer allows you to set
‘On’ and ‘Off ’ time periods to suit your own lifestyle A room
thermostat works by sensing the air temperature, switching
on the heating when the air temperature falls below the
thermostat setting, and switching it off once this set
temperature has been reached
So, a programmable room thermostat lets you choose what
times you want the heating to be on, and what temperature
it should reach while it is on It will allow you to select
different temperatures in your home at different times of the
day (and days of the week) to meet your particular needs
Turning a programmable room thermostat to a higher
setting will not make the room heat up any faster How
quickly the room heats up depends on the design of the
heating system, for example, the size of boiler and radiators
Neither does the setting affect how quickly the room cools
down Turning a programmable room thermostat to a lower
setting will result in the room being controlled at a lower
temperature, and saves energy
The way to set and use your programmable room
thermostat is to find the lowest temperature settings that
you are comfortable with at the different times you have
chosen, and then leave it alone to do its job The best way to
do this is to set low temperatures first, say 18C, and then
turn them up by one degree each day until you are
comfortable with the temperatures You won’t have to adjust
the thermostat further Any adjustments above these settings
will waste energy and cost you more money
If your heating system is a boiler with radiators, there will
usually be only one programmable room thermostat to
control the whole house But you can have different
temperatures in individual rooms by installing thermostatic
radiator valves (TRVs) on individual radiators If you don’t
have TRVs, you should choose a temperature that is
reasonable for the whole house If you do have TRVs, you can
choose a slightly higher setting to make sure that even the
coldest room is comfortable, then prevent any overheating in
other rooms by adjusting the TRVs
The time on the programmer must be correct Some types
have to be adjusted in spring and autumn at the changes
between Greenwich Mean Time and British Summer Time
You may be able to temporarily adjust the heating
programme, for example, ‘Override’, ‘Advance’ or ‘Boost’
These are explained in the manufacturer’s instructions
Programmable room thermostats need a free flow of air to
sense the temperature, so they must not be covered by
curtains or blocked by furniture Nearby electric fires,
televisions, wall or table lamps may prevent the thermostat
from working properly

Installer Options.
If y u wish t change any f the Installer Opti ns as sh wn
bel w, enter the Installer Opti n Menu fr m Aut m de by
pressing < and + simultane usly f r 5 sec nds.
Pressing < and + again f r 5 sec nds will exit the Menu and
return t Aut m de.
Once the Installer Opti ns screen has been selected (Fig 8), the
< and > butt ns all w y u t scr ll thr ugh the Menu (sh wn
bel w). The + and - all w y u t change values. Once a value
has been changed pressing > bef re exiting the Menu will save
the new setting. (Fig 9 sh ws Opti n 1 OFF).
Access protection lock.
The access pr tecti n l ck all ws the installer t l ck the
Digistat+2 s that the user cann t make any adjustments.
The default is OFF m de all wing the users t adjust the
Digistat+2 (see User Guide).
T L ck the Digistat+2 settings enter the Installer Opti ns Menu
(Refer t Installer Opti n 1) and select On and press > t accept.
Once the Installer Opti ns Menu is exited all butt ns will be
l cked.
T switch ff the Pr tecti n L ck enter the Installer Menu and
change t OFF. Press > t accept.
Once the Installer Menu is exited all butt ns will be free t adjust.
Freeze protection.
Freeze pr tecti n will switch n the heating if the r m
temperature falls t 5ºC and will then c ntr l the temperature at
7ºC even if the Digistat+2 is in OFF m de.
The freeze pr tecti n default is ON.
T switch ff the Freeze pr tecti n m de enter the Installer
Opti ns Menu (Refer t Installer Opti ns 2) and change t OFF.
Press > t accept.
Low and High Limit set points.
The user temperature set p ints defaults are High 32ºC and L w
7ºC, t change these limits enter the Installer Opti ns Menu
(Refer t Installer Opti ns 3 & 4).
Intelligent Delayed Start (Energy saving feature).
The Intelligent Delayed Start is an energy saving feature which
aut matically reduces the warm up time f r the heating system.
As the weather bec mes milder, Intelligent Start will delay the
heating start times s that fuel is n t wasted bringing the r m
up t temperature earlier than necessary.
N te: Intelligent Delayed Start nly applies in Aut m de.
Intelligent Delayed Start default is in OFF m de.
T switch n Intelligent Delayed Start enter the Installer Opti ns
Menu (Refer t Installer Opti ns 5).
N te the Intelligent Delayed start pti n is n t suitable f r
Hydr nic underfl r applicati n.
Ensure Installer pti n 5 is set t Off bef re final c mmissi ning
f r Hydr nic underfl r applicati n.
Valve protection.
In s me hydr nic heating systems there may be a requirement t
pr tect the valve by perating it nce a day, f r a given peri d
with ut bringing n the heating system.
If valve pr tecti n is selected the valve will be perated f r a
peri d as sh wn in Valve pr tecti n time (mins).
Valve pr tecti n time every day at 10.00am.
Valve pr tecti n default is OFF.
T enable the valve pr tecti n m de enter the Installer Opti ns
Menu (Refer t Installer Opti n 6)
Valve protection time (mins).
Valve pr tecti n time can be set between 1 and 5 minutes
(default 3 minutes)

Sensor fault function.
When the display sh ws an err r c de (E1) r (E2) this indicates
a sens r fault and the heating system will remain Off.
(E1) = internal sens r and (E2) = external sens r.
If (E1) is sh wn the Digistat+2 sh uld be replaced.
If (E2) is sh wn, first check the external sens r terminal bl ck
c nnecti ns bef re replacing the Digistat+2.
Sens r fault functi n all ws y u t temp rally set the Digistat+2
t cycle the heating system 30% On and 70% Off until y u have
replaced the pr duct.
This can be d ne by entering the installer Opti n Menu (Opti n
8) and selecting On. Press > t accept.
T reset t default Off, entering the installer Opti n Menu
(Opti n 8) and selecting Off. Press > t accept.

How to change User Options.
If y u wish t change any user pti ns 1 t 8 sh wn in table 1 they
can be accessed fr m Aut r Man by pressing < and >
simultane usly f r 3 sec nds. Once y u have accessed the user
setting Menu (Fig 13) press > t scr ll thr ugh selectable pti ns
1 t 8. The settings f r each pti n can be changed by pressing +
r - as required. Press > t accept the change and m ve t the
next pti n. T exit press < and > simultae usly f r 3 sec nds.
Alternatively, n t pressing any butt ns f r 2 mins will cause the
Digistat+2 t return t Aut . (Fig 13a) sh ws pti n 1 24 (24
h ur cl ck).
Only selected pti ns which have been accepted by pressing >
will be changed.

How to change the pre-set time/temperature program to my
own selection.
Press > t select the day functi n. (refer t fig 11).
This indicates that any changes made are valid f r all days f the week.
Press > t view the existing time/temperature event (1). (Fig 12)
time will flash. Press > again t view the temperature setting,
temperature will flash. Press > again t view the 2nd
time/temperature event (Fig 12a).
How to change temperature offset (Option 6).
The temperature displayed n the therm stat may n t match
that f ther temperature measuring devices in the c ntr lled
space, because f its l cati n. The displayed and set temperature
may be ffset t bring it in line with ther devices. T adjust the
temperature, enter the user pti ns, select pti n 6. The
temperature may be ffset by +/- 5 degrees by pressing the +
and – keys. Press > t accept the desired change.
How to restore the built in time temperature programs
(Option 7).
Enter user pti ns, select pti n 7 and use + and – keys t select
desired pti n. Off = current pr grams retained. On = rest re
fact ry pr gram settings. Press > t select the desired change.
Please note enabling this function will lose any user changes
to the preset programs.
How to switch the Digistat+2 and heating system off
(Option 8).
T switch the Digistat+2 and the heating system ff y u need t
enable the Off functi n. Enter user pti ns, select pti n 8 and
use + r – keys t select On t enable the Off functi n .The
therm stat and heating system will n w be Off unless the
temperature in the c ntr lled space falls bel w 7 C the fr st
pr tecti n set-p int. The LCD will display Off and r m
temperature nly and the keys will n t functi n. T switch On
the Digistat+2 enter user pti ns select pti n 8 and use + r –
keys t select Off t disable the Off functi n. The therm stat will
n w regulate the heating system in line with the currently
selected pr gram. Please n te this d es n t effect the perati n
f d mestic h t water where pr vided.
How to change from 24hr to 12hr clock (Option 1).
Enter user pti ns, select pti n 1 and use + and – keys t select
desired pti n, 12 = 12hr and 24 = 24hr. Press > t accept change.
How to change the default manual set-point temperature
(Option 2).
Enter user pti ns, select pti n 2 and use + and – keys t set
desired temperature. Press > t accept desired change.
How to change to another predefined program 1, 2 or 3
(Option 3).
Enter user pti ns, select pti n 3 and use + and – keys t
select desired pr gram 1, 2 r 3. 1 = pr gram 1, 2 = pr gram 2
and 3 = pr gram 3. Press > t accept desired change.
How to change the number of program events per day
(Option 4).
Enter user pti ns, select pti n 4 and use + and – keys t select
desired pti n. 2 = 2 time / temp events per day, 4 = 4 time /
temp events per day and 6 = 6 time / temp events per day. Press
> t accept desired change.
How to switch on/off the automatic summer / winter time
change (Option 5).
Twice a year the actual time is aut matically changed t keep it in
line with the summer / winter time change. Default setting is On.
If y u wish t disable / enable this feature enter user pti ns,
select pti n 5 and press – r + key t display Off r On as
desired. Press > t accept desired change.
