savingtasks have beenexpertlyfinishedatourfactory.Utilizingthemostmodernmaterialsandfoammolding

Launch! LaunchingtheLibellecouldnotbeeasierormoreaccessible.Utilizingcleverdesignbycombining
injection moldedwingtiplaunchplatesandcarbonfiberwingspars,theLibellecanbelaunched"discusstyle"by
both right and left handed pilots. Just sliptheincludedlaunchingpeg into whicheverwingtipsuitsyourneeds.
DesignersNotes - TheLibelle's1.2meterwingspanisuser-friendlyand easy totransport(designedtofitacross
most automobilerearcargo Spaces). When comparedtotheconventional1.5meter DLGs, theLibelle'scompact
wing givesa little moregroundclearanceforthosepilotsjustdevelopingtheirdiscuslaunchtechnique.TheLibelle
packsina lotofwingareaby utilizing a loweraspectratiowingtunedforslow, turning flight- perfect for
tbermalling af low altitude like a bird! Westartedfromthegroundup,fusingin-house airfoil andwingdesignto
provide theLibellewitha widespeed ränge, greatlaunchPerformance,andefficient flight behavior.Generous

RADIO GEAR SETUP
•OursetupandInstallationguideisbasedontheuseoftherecommendedHitec HS-35HD servo.We have
includedtheexactmeasurementsneededtorecreateoursetupifyouchooseanotherbrandofservo.
Additionally, wehighlyrecommendusing a programmableradiowithflaperon mixing.
Note: Have fools access/b/efhroughouf assembly. On/yglider parfs, adhesives, efc are lisfed in fhe "Gafher Ifems

1. Remove factoryinstaliedservoarmsfromallfour
servos.Puttiny screws ina safe placei
2.Usingsmallwireclippers, trim away onesideofall
four skinnyservoarmsasshown.
3.Trimtwoservoarmsto have onlyoneholeremaining,
asshown(thesewillbeusedfortheelevatorand
rudderservos).Fortheaileronservos, trim thetwo
remainingservoarmsdowntotwoholesasshown.If
desired,sandorfiledownthesharpcorners.
4.Attachaileronextensionstotwoservos.
5.Turnontransmitterandplugbatteryintoreceiver
(observeproperpolarityl).
6.Activateflaperonmixing(consultyourradiomanual
for details).
7.Connectall servos toappropriatereceiver Channels,
Confirm System isboundand servos areresponding.
8. Ensure alltrimsandsub-trimsarecenteredandsetto
zero.

9. Arrangeservosontableandattach shorter servoarmstoelevatorand rudder servos.Attach longer servo
arms toaileronservos. IMPORTANT: Servo armsmustbeinstaliedintheorientationsshownbelowto
ensureproperfunction.
10. Ref erring tographicbelow,checkforcorrectservo rotation direction. Ifneeded,reverseservo directions
using transmitter.
11. Ifnecessary, adjust sub-trims soservoarmsareat90degreesas shown.
12. Witha bitof tape, labeleachservofor future reference during Installation (i.e.LA,RA,E,R).
13. Re-install four tiny screwstosecureeachservoarm.
14. Unplugservos from receiverandpowerdown transmitter andreceiver.

WING ASSEMBLY
^IMPORTANT! Joining the right and left wingpanels isthe mostcritical and difficult part of assembly. We
strongly encourage youto practice the stepsbelow first WITHOUT glue. Once youare comfortablewith the
Steps, proceedwithglue.
Gather items below:

1. Enhance controlresponse and reduceservoload by making20mm-longincisionsalongfoamhingesusing o
sharphobby knife. Alternate,leavingapproximately1 5mm of intacthingematerialbetweenincisions
(imagine a dashedline cut pattern as shown below). Make sure to leave 20mm of intacthingematerialalso
at each endof controlsurface. Flex foamailerons 45 degrees in each direction10-15times to loosenhinge
action. Feel free to prepare the hinges on HorizontalStabilizer and Vertical Finin same manner (set these
aside for later).

2. Place right andleftwingpanelsontableasshownbelow,upsidedownwithwingroots(centers)aligned
with edgeoftable.
3.Applymaskingtapetoflatsideof each dihedralbraceasshown. Tape shouldbeslightlylongerthan each
brace.
4.Applymediuminstantglueto front andreardihedralbrace recesses onbottomof left foamwingpanelas
shown.
5.InsertlongerFrontDihedral Brace intomoldeddihedralslotinleftfoamwingandpress firmly inplace.
Usingyourfinger, secure maskingtapeoverglueJoint,ensuringbraceisflushinwing.Installshorter Rear
Dihedral Brace in same mannerosshownbelow.

6.Applymediuminstantglue to areas of right foam
wingshown in graphic tothe right. Glue is
applied tothe followinglocations on right wing
only: molded recesses for dihedralbraces,
alignment tab recesses, and adjoiningwingroot
face areas.
7.Picl< up left wingwithpre-instalieddihedral
braces and join with right wing by lowering it
into Position,allowingdihedral braces and foam
alignmenttabs to locate and align. Press wing
Joint together.Usingyourfinger,smoothover pre-
appliedmaskingtape to lockwingpanels and
dihedral braces in position and contain excess
glue.
8.Flipwingover and presscenter Joint together as
shown. Ensure wingpanels arein proper
alignment and hold for 1 5-20seconds. While
supporting wingcarefully,inspectentirecenter
wingJoint.Continue to applypressure to center
wing Joint ensuring a tight Joint and good
adhesion.
9. As shown inthe sequence below,applymedium
instant glue to molded recess for Wing Center
Plate. Applyglue to flat area of recess as well as
deeperperimeter Channel.Layone winghalf flat
againsttablewhilesupporting the raisedwing
with one hand to maintaindihedral. Now firmly
press Wing Center Plate in place,applying
pressure for 1 5-20seconds asshown.

10. Wipe away excess gluealongentirewing Joint andaroundCenter Wing Plate. Turnwingoverand
carefullyremovemaskingtapecoveringdihedralbraces.
11. Locate controlhorn recess onundersideof each aileron. NOTE: thetwoholeson each controlhornshould
face forwardtowardsthemoldedservopockets.Asshownbelow,applymediuminstantglueto recess and
presscontrolhorninplace,applyingpressurefora fewseconds until gluehasset. Wipe away excess glue.
12. Before proceeding,ensureaileron servos arecentered,labeied,andextensionsareinstalied.Testfitaileron
servos intheirappropriatemoldedpockets,withtheservoarmorientedverticallyandcentered.
NOTE: MoldedservopocketsacceptHitec HS-35HD servos withoutmodification.

13. Remove servos andsecurelyre-installusinga droportv^oofmediuminstantglue,thindouble-sidedtape,
lov/-temperaturehotglue.
14. Press theservowiresandextensionsneatlyintotheprovided Channels. Ifyou have chosenthe Wing
Reinforcement Decal Option (Part DFLBl 1 1),applythisnow.Otherwise,applya pieceofclearpackingor
office tapeover each servoandwire/extension.
15. Prepare two clevises byfoldingsidestogether,
creatinga slotwherethepushrodwillbeclamped.
Withclevisfolded,installsmallclampingscrew
through each clevis.Donottightenscrewatthis
point.
16. Slide clevisontoendof each aileronpushrod.You
may have toloosenclampingscrewslightlyto
allowclevistoslideontopushrodend.
17. Insertwire "Z-Bend" sideof each aileronpushrod
into outermost(second)holeofservoarms.
18. Adjustandinstall clevises toalignwithoutermost
holeofaileroncontrolhorns.
19. Withaileronservoarmcentered,centerandalign
aileron flight surfacewifhwingtip.Adjust clevises
as necessary andtightenclamping screws until
pushrodissecure.Donotover-tightenclamping
screw;whenproperlytightened,tipofscrew
shouldonlyprotrudeslightlyfromsideofclevis.

FUSELAGE AND TAIL ASSEMBLY

1.Ifyouhaven'tdonesoalready,preparerudder
andelevatorhingesusingthe same procedure
describedin Step 1 of Wing Assembly (Page 5).
Thiswillhelp enhance controlresponseandreduce
servoload.
2.Installcontrolhornsinelevatorandrudderas
shown,withholesfacinghinge.Applymedium
instant glueto recess andpresscontrolhornin
place,applyingpressurefora fewseconds until
glue hasset. Wipe away excess glue.
3.Testfitelevatorandrudder servos infuselageby
sliding intopositionsideways. Before proceeding,
confirm servofit,orientation,andservoarm
positions asshown. IMPORTANT: Elevator servo
is slid into place before rudder servo, with servo
arm towards rear asshown.
4.Asshownabove,securelyinstallelevatorandrudder servos byapplyinga droportwoofmediuminstant
gluethroughallfourservomountingtabholes. Ensure gluepenetratesaroundandunderneathtabsand
servos fit tight against each otherandsurroundingfoam.Applya little pressureto servos for several
secondsasgluesets.
5. Prepare two clevises forelevatorand rudder pushrods.

6. Attacha clevisto
each pushrodasshownbelow.
7. Feed Z-Bend endofshorterpushrodthroughrearofelevatormountatdngleasshownbelow. Slide pushro(
8. Remove elevatorservoarmandattachtopushrod Z-Bend asshownbelow.Youmayneedtousesmall
needlenoseplierstograbthepushrod.Reinstallservoarmandreplacescrew. IMPORTANT: Elevator and
rudder pushrods must hang BELOW servo arms for proper clearance.
9. Make noteofalignmenttabontopofelevatormount.Alignhorizontalstabilizeronmountand secure with
nylonelevatorbolt(1Omm-Iong).Donotover-tightennylon bolt. Ifboltthreadfeels tight, de-burrtipofbolt
usingsandpaper.

10. As shownbelow,attachclevis to elevatorcontrolhorn at outermosthole. If necessary, usea small flat-
bladedscrewdriver to spreadclevisapart. Ifyouare having difficulty, try removingstabilizer to make
clevisconnection easier (re-installstabilizer öfter connection has beenmade). IMPORTANT: Clevis must be
instalied with correct orientation (screw head on right side of tail boom) for sufficient pushrod
clearance. Youmay need to loosenclevisclampingscrew to allowpushrod to slidefreely in clevis for
adjustment. Do nottightenclampingscrew yet.
11. As shownbelow,testfitverticalfinontotailboom.NotefoamIndex tabon finwhichalignswithtailboom,
providing correctpositioning.
12. When gluing fin onto tail boom, ensure finis mounted at90 degrees to horizontal stabilizer.Apply
mediuminstantglue to cutout in vertical finas shown below.Youcan substitute5-minuteepoxy for more
working time anda strongerJoint.Lightlypressvertical fin ontotailboomwhilealigningIndex tab withtail
boomcutout.Lookingfromrear of glider as shownbelow,ensure finis mounted 90 degrees to horizontal
stabilizer using a 90°Square- adjust fin as needed before glue sets! When fin is perfectiyvertical,apply
pressure to glue Joint for several seconds oruse painter'stape to hold finin placewhileglueeures. Wipe
away any excess and allowglue to eure for several minutesbeforeproceeding.

13. Foraddedstrength,applya small Strip ofcleartapeovertailboomandoverlappingontofin(seebeld
Thetapeshouldnotcoverpushrodcutoutincarbontailboom.
14. Feed Z-Bend endoflongerrudderpushrodintorearopeningofcarbontailboomasshownbelow. Slide
pushrodallthewayforwardthroughtailboomforconnectionwithrudderservoarm.
15. Attachclevistoruddercontrolhornatinnermosthole. IMPORTANT: Clevis musfbe instalied with correct
orientation (screw head ontop)for sufficient pushrod clearance. Youmayneedtoloosenclevisclampin
screwtoallowpushrodtoslidefreelyinclevisforadjustmentandconnectionwithrudderservoarm.Do
tighten clampingscrewyet.

16. RemoverudderservoarmandattachtopushrodZ-Bend.Re-installservoarmandreplacescrewasshown
below. IMPORTANT: Elevator andrudderpushrodsmusthang BELOW servoarmsforproperclearance.
17. Ensureelevatorandrudderservoarmsarecenteredonservosasshownbelow.
18. Loosenclevisclampingscrewstoallowpushrodstoslidefreelyinclevises.Centerfoamelevatorandrudder
control surfacesbyeyeand tighten clevisclampingscrewtolockpushrodincentered position.
19. Asshownbelow,setbatteryandreceivertemporarilyinpositionandplugelevatorandrudderservos into
appropriate receiver ports. Twistelevatorandrudderservowirestogetherfora neaterInstallation.
IMPORTANT: Keep your servoand battery wires tidy soasnottoobstruct movement ofservosand
pushrods.

WING INSTALLATION
Gather items below:
•Completedwing
•Completedfuselagewithtailgroupinstalied
•Canopy
•(2) Wing bolts(20mm front, 1 5mmrear)
•Carbonfiberlaunchingpeg
1. Press wingontofuselagebyaligningwingwith anti-
rotation pinsonfuselagewingsaddle.
2.Aileronextension leads should pass throughmolded
foam Channel underneaththewing'sleadingedge.
Ensure nowiresarepinchedbetweenthewingand
fuselage.Twistaileron leads togetherfora tidier
Installation.
3.Installtwonylonwingbolts.Insertlonger20mm-long
bolt inforwardhole.Donotover-tightennylonbolts;
only slightpressureisneededtoholdwingonto
fuselage,sincetheanti-rotationpinsabsorbthestress
of discuslaunching.De-burrendsofnylonboltswith
sandpaperiftheyfeel tight initially.
4. Plug aileronservo leads intoappropriateportson
receiver.
5. IMPORTANT: Install all servo and baHery wires ina
neat manner so that they allow canopy to seat
properly anddonot obstruct movement ofpushrods.
Refer topictureatrightforexampleofa tidyradio
gearInstallation.
6.Installcarbonfiberlaunchingpeginthedesired
wingtip. Mostright-handersprefera launchingpegin
theleftwingtip;however,therearethosewhoprefer
to launchfromtherightwingtip(lefthand-launch)to
keeptheirrighthandontheelevator/aileron Joystick
(for Mode2 transmitters).
