Bearin mind that batterylife expectancyisbased upon volume and bass listening
levels.
Maximum battery powerconsumptionhappensat maximum settings.Typicallifefor2
size “AA”alkalinebatteries is about10hours ofcontinuousCD play.
NOTE: Youmayuserechargeablebatteries onthis set.However,because
rechargeablebatteriesgenerally havelowervoltage(1.2voltsinsteadof
1.5volts). Your playingtime willbe muchlessthannormal freshalkaline batteries.
Powerthis CD player byinserting 2size “AA”fresh alkaline batteries, or connecting
an optional AC adaptor,or using theprovided Cigarette Lighter adaptor.
TIPSONBATTERYUSE
Reversing polaritieswill damage the batteries and possiblyyour set. Be sure to
follow polarity(+ and –)asindicated.
Donotmixdifferent typestogether (Alkaline,Carbon-Zinc,Nickel-Cadmium etc.),
or old batterieswith new ones.
When not in usefor an extended period of time, or while internal batterieswill not
be used, remove them to prevent possibleacid leakage or corrosion resulting in
damage to your player.
When the batterieshavebecome discharged, they must be disposed of in asafe
manner that complieswith all applicable laws.
Installation of batteriesshould onlybe done byan adult (for safety).
1.USING WITH BATTERIES
Insert 2size “AA”alkaline batteriesaccording to
the +and –markings on the bottom of the set.
2.AC ADAPTOR (OPTIONAL)
WhiletheCDis playing,ifthealkalinebatteriesareweakor discharged,thissymbol
“”showsor flashes in the display,then the power automaticallyturns off. If this
occurs, replaceboth alkaline batteries(alsoif the displaydoesnot show anything,
the batteriesare dead).
WHEN SHOWS IN THE DISPLAYY
NOTE: Player will not work, and batterieswill be
drained,if batteriesarenotinsertedas
shown on the bottom of the set.
Before you buyan optionalAC Adaptor,pleasenote, the onlyAC adaptor suitable for
this player is DC 4.5V 500mA (or greater), with PLUS center polarity (see

3.USING CIGARETTE LIGHTER ADAPTOR
CAUTION:
Usethisset onlywith thesuppliedcigarettelighteradaptor.Usewithothercigarette
lighter adaptorscoulddamage theset.
When theinsideofthe cigarettelighter socketisdirtywith ashes, theplugsection
may becomehotduetopoorcontact.Be sure to clean yourcar cigarettelighter
socket before use.
After use, disconnectthe cigarettelighter adaptorplugsfrom boththe setandthe
cigarettelightersocket.
The cigarette lighteradaptor maycause interferencewithreception tothe car
radio.Ifthishappens, disconnectthecigarettelighter adaptorfromthecigarette
lighter socketwhen playingtheradio.
Do not leavethe cigarette lighteradaptor plugged in without your car’smotor
running,your car’sbatterymay draininsomemodels ofcarsthatsupplypower
tothecigarette lighteradaptor evenwiththecar’skeys removed.
Use thecigarettelighter adaptor tosupply
power toyour playerandconservebatterylife
when using theCDplayerinacar(nobatteries
areneeded).

Thecar cassetteadaptor allowsyou to useyour CDplayerwithyour carstereo
cassette system, this adaptor will pass the CD music through your car’scassette
player and car stereo.
1.Insert the car cassette adaptor in the same
directionas you would insert an audio cassette
tape,with theside marked THIS SIDEUPfacing
upwards.
2.Ifthecar cassette adaptor cordis onthe wrong
side of thetape,repositionthe cordby following
theinstructions below.
3.Insertthe carcassette adaptorstereopluginto
theLINEOUT jackontheleft sideofthe CD
player.
4.Turnon thecassette player.Press the PLAY
buttononthe cassette player.
5.PressthePLAYbutton on theCDplayer.
6.Adjust the VOLUMEcontrolonyour cassette
player.
7.When done, leavethecassette playeronand
firsteject theadaptor,then turnoffcassette
player.
Repositionthe cord
Thecordshould extendout from the cassette
playerwhenthecassetteisinserted(direction
dependingonyourtape player).
1.Toreposition thecord,remove thetop plate by
removing2screwswith adime(see Fig. 1).
2.Reposition thecord so that it comesoutfrom
otherpositions (see Fig. 2).
3.Replacethecoverand thescrews.

CONNECTING TO HOME STEREO SYSTEMS
The LINE OUT jack ismade to accept astereo mini plug (3.5mm). Simplyconnect
the cable’s mini plug to the LINE OUTjack on your player, and the other appropriate
end usuallyRCA JACKS to the CD/AUX INPUTS of your home stereo.
NOTE3:
If you plug the headphonesinto the LINE OUT jack, the music will be verylow even
if the VOLUME CONTROL isat maximum. Ifyou plug the remote control into the
LINE OUTjack, the music will be verylow,press anybutton on the remote control
will haveno function.
Make sure you plug the headphones into the green PHONES jack only.
NOTE 2:
Toinsure that the headphonesare not accidentallyput into the LINE OUTjack, we
have covered this jack with aplasticplug. You may leavethis small plug inthe LINE
OUTjack for normalheadphonesuse. Toconnect your CD player to your home
stereo, simplygraspthis plug with your fingernails, and removeit to exposethe LINE
OUT jack.
NOTE 1:
Usethe volumecontrol ofthis set and your home stereo system to adjust the
volume. Toget maximum volume from yourhome stereo, pushthe volume +button
till maximum (#32), then adjust your home stereo’svolume control.

song on the CD will playin sequential order.
3.Whenyoufindasongyoulike,press thePLAY/PAUSE
button again, the symbol INTRO will disappear from
the display,normal playwill be resumed, that song
(and the following songs)will play NORMALLY.
Random Play
This plays the songson thedisc in arandom order.
1.During play,press REPEAT button four times
the symbol RANDOM will flash.
2.Press the PLAY/PAUSE button, this will playall of
thesongsinrandom orderselectedbytheCD
player.The symbol RANDOM will stop flashing.
3.Press the SKIP/SEARCH button to skip to the

The tracks (songs)on the disc can be programmed (arranged in advance) to playin
anyorder you prefer (up to 20tracks can be programmed).
PROGRAMMED PLAY
During programming, the symbol PROG flashesin the display.Toprogram songsto
play in your preferred order,follow stepsbelow:
1.Press thePROGRAMbutton.
Thesymbol PROG and “ ” will flash
inthedisplay.
2.PresstheSKIP/SEARCHbutton
(or )to select tracknumber3
(example). PROG and track number

This set isdesigned with thelatest 60 second Anti-skip Protection -which allows
virtuallyunlimited gentle skip protection abovethe normal 60 second skip protection.
When the PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed, the “”(memory
basket) indicator willappear inthe display,thedigitaldata
(music)isstored in the “read-ahead”memory buffer before it
isdecoded and played. It may take awhile for the basket to fill.
The60secondAnti-skip Protectionfunctionpreventsthe soundfrom skipping by
using abuffer memorythat storesmusicdata.This new 60secondAnti-skip Protection
system can store more music than normal 60 second anti-skip systems.
60 SECOND ANTI-SKIPPROTECTION SYSTEM
This new design allows gentle swaying ofthe set(asin walking) without music
skipping. The Anti-skip Protection function may notwork during heavy jogging.
The 60second Anti-skip Protection function willturn onautomaticallywhenthe
PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed.
When the set issubject to ashock or abump during play,the
data stored in memory continuesto be decoded and played.
Thisgivesthe pickup time to stabilizeand continue reading
new music. As the data isusedfrom memory,the indicator
changesfrom “”to “”.Oncethe pickup returnsto its
originalposition, new data isstored inmemory and thedisplay
changesback to the “”mark.
Iftheset issubjecttorepeatedshocks andallthe datastored
in memory isused up, the “”mark isdisplayed and the
sound will skip or stop for abrief period until the memory
basket hastime to fill up again.
NOTE:
-Themusicmay stopif the player receivescontinuous
shocking.
-Youmayhearnoiseor skipping if theCDisdirty orscratched.
- If you press SKIP/SEARCH buttons, the memory basket will
empty itself temporarily.

Cleaning the cabinet
Wipe with asoft cloth. If the cabinet is
verydirty,dampen (not dripping wet) the
clothwith aweaksolutionofsoapy water,
and then wipe clean.
Cleaning the lens
Adirtylenswill causesound skipping. If
the lens is verydirty,the player may not
work.Wesuggest usingaspecial
cleaning disk (not included) available in
most music and Hi-Fi stores. However,
if you do not haveone, you may usea
cotton swab veryslightlydampened with
alcohol to clean the lens.
MAINTENANCE
Toremove the Disc
Openthe CD DOORbyslidingthe
DOOR OPEN button, holdthe disc by
the edge while slightlypressing on the
center spindle asillustrated, then lift it
from the edge to releaseand remove.
Cleaning the Discs
Fingerprints should be carefullywiped
from the surfaceofdiscwith asoft
cloth.Unlike conventionalrecords,
compact discshavenogrooves to
collect dust and microscopic dirt, so
gently wiping them with asoftcloth
should removemost particles. Wipe
in astraight motion from the center to
the edge.
Handling Compact Discs
Dirty,scratched or warped discs may
cause skipping or noise.
Handlethe disconlybytheedges.To
keep clean,donottouchits surface.
Neverusethinner,benzine,record
cleanerorantistaticsprayonacompact
disc. Such chemicalscan damage its
plastic surface.
Discs should be stored in their cases
after useto avoid scratches.
Do notexposediscstodirect sunlight,
high humidity,high temperatures, or
dust,etc.Prolonged exposuretoextreme
temperatures can warp the disc(such
asleaving the discs in your car during
summertime).
Donotstickorwriteanythingoneither
side of disc. Sharp writinginstruments,
ortheinksused insomefelt-tip pens,
may damage itssurface.
NOTE:
Always press the STOP/OFF button and
wait for the disc to stop rotating before
slidingtheDOOROPENbuttonto
removethe disc.

Scratched Discs
If your disc isbadlyscratched, it will not
play.You may be able to repair the disc
if you buyadisc polisher.

CONDENSATION
Ifcold water is pouredinto a glass, water droplets form onthe outsideof the glass. This
iscalledcondensation. Condensationmay occuroninternaloperatingparts ofthe lens.
Condensation occurs:
When the set isbrought from the cold outdoorsinto awarm room, or if it isin acold
room to aroom which isheated, or in thesummer,if the set ismoved from an air-
conditioned room or car toahot or humid location.
Should condensation occur,the set may not operate properly.Open the CD DOOR
and wait for about 20 minutes (to allow the internal partsto adjust to the surrounding
temperature) before using the set.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
