CONDENSATION
Ifcoldwater ispouredinto aglass,water dropletsformonthe outsideofthe glass.Thisis
calledcondensation.Condensationmayoccuroninternaloperatingpartsofthe lens.
Condensation occurs:
When the set isbrought from the coldoutdoorsinto awarmroom, or if it isinacold
roomto aroomwhichisheated, or inthesummer,if the set ismoved from an air-
conditioned roomor car to ahot or humidlocation.
Shouldcondensationoccur,the setmaynotoperateproperly.Openthe CD DOOR
and wait for about 20 minutes(to allow theinternalpartsto adjustto the surrounding
temperature) before using the set.
SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
Donottake the set apart. Thelaser beamusedin the set may harmyoureyes. Refer
servicing toqualified service personnelonly.
Donotinsertpins orcoins, clips, orany objects inside theset.
Thisset isequippedwith asafety device which automaticallyturnsthe laser beamoff
when the CD DOOR isopened.
Donotdrop the set orsubjectit to strong shocks. Doing so could result in damage.
Donotplace the set in locations wherethe temperatureishigh,or in humidor dusty
locations, orlocations withlong heavy vibrations,or tilted surfaces.
The set’scabinet maywarp orthe setmay bedamagedif it isplacedin direct sunlight,
near heaters(where thetemperatureis1400F/600Cor higher)orincars withthe
windowsclosed. In the summer,the temperature mayget as high as 2120F/1000Cor
more.
Use the set within atemperaturerange of410F/50Cto950F/350C.
Use ONLYtheoptionalDC 4.5VACADAPTOR withpolarity ,othersmay
damageyour set. Disconnect the ADAPTOR fromthe wall outlet when the set isnot to
be used for an extended period of time(3 days or more).
When cleaningyour set, use asoft drycloth.Donot use solvents or commercially
available cleaners, as theymay damage or discolorthe finish.
Donotwear headphoneswhile operatingamotorvehicle.This could create atraffic
hazardand isillegalin manyareas. Donot usethis set when bicyclingor running.
The headphonessupplied with your set provide superb stereo listening while allowing
you to hear someoutside sounds whenlistening at normally lowvolumelevels. Listening
at extremelyhigh volume levels minimizes the intrusion of outside noise/sounds. Inthe
interest ofsafety,it isstronglyadvised against theuse while engaging inactivities
wherethe exclusion of external sounds (whistles, horns, sirens, traffic, etc.) couldbe
hazardous. Also loudvolumecan hurt your ears.If you noticethat thesound has
becomeweakordistortedoriftracksdonotchange,thisisanindicationthatyour
batteries areweak. Replace both batteries at the sametime(see Using withBatteries).
