Bear inmind that batterylifeexpectancyisbased upon volumeand bass listening
levels.
Maximumbatterypowerconsumptionhappensat maximumsettings.Typicallife for2
size AA”alkalinebatteriesisabove8hoursofcontinuousCD play.
NOTE: You mayuserechargeablebatterieson thisset. However,because
rechargeablebatteriesgenerallyhavelowervoltage(1.2voltsinsteadof
1.5volts).Yourplayingtimewillbemuchless thannormalfreshalkaline
batteries.
PowerthisCDplayer byinserting 2size AA”freshalkaline batteries,orusingthe
provided Cigarette Lighter Adaptor.
TIPSONBATTERYUSE
Reversing polaritieswill damage the batteriesand possiblyyour set. Be sure to
follow polarity(+and -)asindicated.
Do not mixdifferent typestogether (Alkaline, Carbon-Zinc, Nickel-Cadmiumetc.),
or oldbatterieswithnew ones.
When not inusefor an extended period of time, or whileinternalbatterieswill not
be used, removethem to prevent possibleacidleakage or corrosion resulting in
damage to your player.
When the batterieshavebecomedischarged, theymustbe disposed of inasafe
manner that complieswithall applicablelaws.
Installation of batteriesshouldonlybe done byan adult (for safety).
1. USINGWITHBATTERIES
Insert 2size AA”alkaline batteriesaccording to
the +and -markingson the bottomof the set.
2. AC ADAPTOR (OPTIONAL)
WhiletheCDisplaying,if thealkalinebatteriesareweakor discharged, thissymbol
”showsor flashesinthe display,then the power automaticallyturnsoff. If this
occurs,replaceboth alkaline batteries(alsoif the displaydoesnot show anything, the
batteriesare dead).
WHEN SHOWS INTHE DISPLAYY
Youcan alsopowerthisCD playerbyconnecting an optionalACadaptor. Beforeyou
buyanoptionalACAdaptor,pleasenote, theonly ACADAPTOR suitablefor thisplayer
is DC4.5V 600mA (orgreater),withpluscenterpolarity .Othersmaydamage
your player.Pleasecheck voltageand current(mA)beforebuying an AC ADAPTOR.

CAUTION:
•Usethis setonly with thesuppliedcigarettelighteradaptor.Use withothercigarette
lighter adaptorscoulddamage theset.
•When theinsideofthe cigarettelighter socketis dirtywith ashes,theplugsection
maybecomehotduetopoorcontact.Besuretocleanyourcarcigarettelighter
socket before use.
•Afteruse, disconnectthe cigarettelighteradaptorplugsfromboththe setandthe
cigarette lighter socket.
•The cigarette lighteradaptor maycauseinterferencewithreception to the car
radio. If thishappens,disconnectthe cigarette lighter adaptor from thecigarette
lightersocket.
•Do not leavethe cigarette lighter adaptor plugged inwithout yourcar’smotor
running, your car’sbatterymaydraininsomemodelsof carsthat supplypower
tothecigarette lighteradaptor evenwiththecar’skeys removed.
Usethe cigarette lighter adaptor to supply
powertoyour playerandconservebatterylife
when using theCDplayerinacar(nobatteries
areneeded).
•Plugtheadaptorintothe car’scigarette
lighter.Insertfirmly,andthe cigarettelighter
indicatorwilllightup.
•Plug theotherendintotheDC4.5Vjack on
theleftrear of theset.

The LINE OUT jack ismade to accept astereo miniplug (3.5mm). Simplyconnectthe
cable’sminiplug to the LINE OUTjack on your player,and the other appropriate end
usuallyRCA JACKS to the CD/AUX INPUTS of your homestereo.

The car cassette adaptor allowsyouto useyour CD player withyourcar stereo
cassettesystem.
1.Insertthe carcassetteadaptorinthe samedirection
asyouwouldinsert an audiocassette tape, withthe
side markedTHIS SIDEUPfacing upwards.
2.Ifthecar cassette adaptorcord ison thewrongside
of thetape, reposition the cord byfollowingthe
instructionsbelow.
3.Insert thecar cassetteadaptorstereoplugintothe
LINE OUTjack on therightside of theCDplayer.
4.Turn on thecassetteplayer.Pressthe PLAYbutton
onthecassetteplayer.
5.PressthePLAYbuttonon theCDplayer.
6.Adjustthe VOLUMEcontrolonyourcassetteplayer.
7.Whendone,leavethecassetteplayeronandfirst
ejecttheadaptor,thenturn offcassetteplayer.
Reposition thecord
The cord shouldextend outfrom the cassette player
when the cassette isinserted (direction dependingon
your tapeplayer).
1.Toreposition the cord,removethetopplate by
removing2screwswith adime(see Fig.1).
2.Reposition thecord sothatit comesoutfromother
positions(see Fig.2).
3.Replacethecover andthe screws.

Plays one song over and over till you press STOP.
Duringplay,selectthesong you want to repeatwith
either of the SKIP/SEARCH buttons( or ), then
press the REPEATbutton once, the symbol REPEATONE
will appear inthe display.
Thesongcurrentlyplaying willrepeat overandover,
untilyou press STOP.
All Tracks Repeat
Repeatsall songsinorder,till you press STOP.
During play,press the REPEATbutton twice, the symbol
REPEATALL will show inthe display.
All songswill keep playing insequence1, 2, 3, etc., and
when finished, will start all over againuntil you press the
STOP.

Thisplays thefirst10secondsof songsinsequential

1.Duringplay,press theREPEATbuttonthreetimes,
the word INTRO will flashinthe display.
2.Pressthe PLAYbutton, theword INTRO willstop
flashing and the first10 secondsof each song on the
CD will playinsequentialorder.
3.When you find asong you like, press the PLAYbutton
again,the symbol INTRO willdisappearfromthe
display,normalplaywill be resumed, that song (and
the following songs)will play NORMALLY.
RandomPlay
Thisplays the songson the disc inarandomorder.
1.During play,press REPEAT button four timesthe word
RND will flash.
2.Press the PLAYbutton, thiswill playall of the songs
inrandomorder selected bythe CD player.The word
RND will stop flashing.
3.PresstheSKIP/SEARCHbutton toskiptothe
nextrandomsong.

The tracks (songs)on the disc can be programmed (arranged inadvance) to playin
anyorder you prefer (up to 20 tracks can be programmed).

PROGRAMMED PLAY
During programming, the word PROG flashesinthe display.Toprogramsongsto play
inyour preferred order,follow stepsbelow:
1.PressthePROGRAMbutton.
Theword PROG and ”willflashinthe
display.
2.Press the SKIP/SEARCH button ( or
)to selecttrack number 3(example).
PROG and track number 03”will flashin
the display.
3.Pressthe PROGRAMbutton to confirm.
Track3isnow programmed.
Program number 2will now show inthe
display,readyfor your nextselection of
track.
4.Repeat steps2and 3to programother
trackstillyoufinish(upto 20
selections).
NOTE:
-The player will stop automaticallyafter
allprogrammedtrackshavebeen
played.
-Toquitprogrammedplay,pressthe
STOPbutton once. Then you maypress
the PLAYbutton to re-start normalplay.
5.Afterprogrammingis finished,pressthe

Thisset isdesignedwiththelatest60 second ESP PLUSTM (ElectronicShock Protection)
-whichallowsvirtuallyunlimited gentleskipprotection abovethe normal60 second
shockprotection.
When the PLAY/PAUSE button ispressed, the ”(memory
basket) indicator will appear inthedisplay,the digitaldata (music)
isstored inthe read-ahead”memorybuffer before it isdecoded
and played.
The60 second ESP PLUSTM functionpreventsthe sound from skipping byusinga
buffer memorythat storesmusicdata. The new 60 second ESP PLUSTM system can
store more musicthan normal60 second anti-skipsystems.
60SECOND ESPPLUSTM ANTI-SKIPSYSTEM
Thisnew design allowsgentleswaying of theset (asinwalking) without musicskipping.
Thisfunction (CD ESP PLUSTM)maynot workduring heavy jogging.
The 60 second ESP PLUSTM function will turn on automaticallywhen the PLAY/PAUSE
buttonis pressed.
When the set issubjectto ashock or abumpduring play,the
datastoredinmemorycontinuestobedecoded and played.
Thisgivesthe pickup time to stabilizeand continue reading
newmusic.Asthedatais used frommemory,theindicator
changesfrom ”to ”.Oncethepickup returnstoits
originalposition, new data isstored inmemoryand the display
changesback to the ”mark.
If the set issubjectto repeatedshocks and all the data stored
inmemoryisusedup,the ”markis displayedandthe
sound will skipor stop for abrief period until the memorybasket
hastime to fill up again.
NOTE:
-The musicmaystop if the player receivescontinuousshocking.
-You mayhear noiseor skippingif the CD isdirtyor scratched.
-Ifyou pressSKIP/SEARCHbuttons,thememorybasket will
emptyitself temporarily.

Cleaning the cabinet
Wipewithasoft cloth.If the cabinetis
verydirty,dampen (not dripping wet) the
cloth withaweaksolution of soapywater,
and then wipe clean.
Cleaning the lens
Adirtylenswill causesound skipping. If
the lensisverydirty,the player maynot
work.Wesuggestusing aspecialcleaning
disk (not included) availableinmostmusic
andHi-Fistores.However,if youdo not
haveone,you mayuseacottonswab
veryslightly dampenedwithalcoholto
clean the lens.
MAINTENANCE
Toremove the Disc
Open the CD DOOR bysliding the DOOR
OPEN button,holdthediscbythe edge
whileslightlypressing on thecenter
spindleasillustrated, then lift it from the
edge to releaseand remove.
Cleaning the Discs
Fingerprintsshouldbe carefullywiped
from the surfaceof disc withasoft cloth.
Unlikeconventionalrecords,compact
discs haveno groovesto collectdust
andmicroscopicdirt,sogentlywiping
themwithasoftclothshouldremove
mostparticles.Wipeinastraight
motion from the center to the edge.
Handling Compact Discs
Dirty,scratchedor warpeddiscs may
causeskipping or noise.
Handlethedisc onlybytheedges.To
keep clean,donottouchitssurface.
Neverusethinner,benzine, record
cleaner or antistaticsprayon acompact
disc.Suchchemicals candamageits
plastic surface.
Discsshouldbe storedintheircases
afteruseto avoidscratches.
Do not exposediscs to directsunlight,
highhumidity,hightemperatures,or
dust, etc.Prolonged exposure to
extreme temperaturescan warp the disc
(suchasleaving the discs inyourcar
during summertime).
Donotstickorwriteanything on either
side of disc.Sharp writinginstruments,or
theinksused insomefelt-tippens,may
damageitssurface.
NOTE:
Alwayspressthe STOPbutton andwait
for the disc to stop rotating before sliding
theDOOROPEN buttontoremovethe
disc.

CONDENSATION
Ifcoldwater ispouredinto aglass,water dropletsformonthe outsideofthe glass.Thisis
calledcondensation.Condensationmayoccuroninternaloperatingpartsofthe lens.
Condensation occurs:
When the set isbrought from the coldoutdoorsinto awarmroom, or if it isinacold
roomto aroomwhichisheated, or inthesummer,if the set ismoved from an air-
conditioned roomor car to ahot or humidlocation.
Shouldcondensationoccur,the setmaynotoperateproperly.Openthe CD DOOR
and wait for about 20 minutes(to allow theinternalpartsto adjustto the surrounding
temperature) before using the set.
SAFETYPRECAUTIONS
Donottake the set apart. Thelaser beamusedin the set may harmyoureyes. Refer
servicing toqualified service personnelonly.
Donotinsertpins orcoins, clips, orany objects inside theset.
Thisset isequippedwith asafety device which automaticallyturnsthe laser beamoff
when the CD DOOR isopened.
Donotdrop the set orsubjectit to strong shocks. Doing so could result in damage.
Donotplace the set in locations wherethe temperatureishigh,or in humidor dusty
locations, orlocations withlong heavy vibrations,or tilted surfaces.
The set’scabinet maywarp orthe setmay bedamagedif it isplacedin direct sunlight,
near heaters(where thetemperatureis1400F/600Cor higher)orincars withthe
windowsclosed. In the summer,the temperature mayget as high as 2120F/1000Cor
more.
Use the set within atemperaturerange of410F/50Cto950F/350C.
Use ONLYtheoptionalDC 4.5VACADAPTOR withpolarity ,othersmay
damageyour set. Disconnect the ADAPTOR fromthe wall outlet when the set isnot to
be used for an extended period of time(3 days or more).
When cleaningyour set, use asoft drycloth.Donot use solvents or commercially
available cleaners, as theymay damage or discolorthe finish.
Donotwear headphoneswhile operatingamotorvehicle.This could create atraffic
hazardand isillegalin manyareas. Donot usethis set when bicyclingor running.
The headphonessupplied with your set provide superb stereo listening while allowing
you to hear someoutside sounds whenlistening at normally lowvolumelevels. Listening
at extremelyhigh volume levels minimizes the intrusion of outside noise/sounds. Inthe
interest ofsafety,it isstronglyadvised against theuse while engaging inactivities
wherethe exclusion of external sounds (whistles, horns, sirens, traffic, etc.) couldbe
hazardous. Also loudvolumecan hurt your ears.If you noticethat thesound has
becomeweakordistortedoriftracksdonotchange,thisisanindicationthatyour
batteries areweak. Replace both batteries at the sametime(see Using withBatteries).
