FITTING AND CARING FOR YOUR WHEELS
1. INSPECTING YOUR WHEELS BEFORE FITTING TYRES
Before you fit tyres/tires or mount your wheels onto the vehicle you must check
the following:
1.1. Inspect the wheels immediately upon receipt for damage in transit, especially
if there is damage to the packing. Take photographs of any damage to packaging
or wheels
1.2. Check the max. static load, bolt pattern, bore diameter, offset/backspace, brake
caliper clearances and body work clearances are all as ordered. Any error in the
order is the responsibility of the customer or dealer
1.3. It is the company’s policy not to replace or credit wheels that have been fitted with
tyres or mounted on the vehicle
1.4. Check that the tyres to be fitted comply with the vehicle manufacturer’s
recommended rolling diameter for your vehicle, speed rating, static loading and
the wheel size you have chosen
IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Using tyres that do not conform to the vehicle or tyre manufacturer’s recommendations
may result in serious safety issues related to undersized or oversized fitments and/or may
adversely affect your vehicle’s driving systems such as all-wheel drive, anti-lock braking
systems (ABS), etc.
2. FITTING INSTRUCTIONS
Having inspected your wheels, the wheels should be fitted as follows:
2.1. Before mounting tyres, the tyre bead seat area should be generously lubricated
with tyre fitting paste or liquid. With very low profile tyres the use of a proprietary
bead sealing compound is recommended to assure good initial sealing

DYMAG® BOXSTROM™
CARBON HYBRID AUTOMOTIVE WHEELS
OWNERS GUIDE
4www.dymag.com
2.2. When mounting the tyres the wheels should be clamped externally onto the rim
using rubber protectors on the clamping surface
2.3. Mount the tyres using only wheel hub support tyre fitting machines being
careful to ensure that the tyre bead is pushed into the wheel well, as the
machine rotates to fit the tyre. Machines that clamp the rim may damage
the rim finish
2.4. If tyre pressure monitor systems are either bolted directly into the valve hole or
bonded onto the wheels, use caution to not break the sensor when mounting
the tyres
2.5. Use STICK-ON WEIGHTS ONLY. Clip-on weights can cause damage to the wheels
and their use may void the warranty. To maintain the appearance of your wheels,
weights should be placed inside the wheel barrel not on the outer face of the rim
2.6. Bolt the wheel lug nuts using the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended torque
settings in the vehicle handbook, unless otherwise instructed by Dymag
2.7. After the wheels and tyres have been fitted to the vehicle, take for a short
test drive
2.8. Re- check the torque values of each lug nut/bolt and make sure that they are
torqued to the manufacturer’s recommended specifications
3. USING YOUR ORIGINAL WHEEL AS A SPARE
If you intend to use one of your original equipment wheels as a spare, make sure that you
keep a set of the correct lug nuts/bolts and a properly sized spanner or wrench in the car
at all times. In most cases, Dymag wheels utilise the original equipment lug nuts/bolts;
however, this may not be true in all cases.
4. TAMPERING WITH WHEEL ASSEMBLY
Under no circumstances should the fastening systems between the rim and centrepiece be
tampered with. Do NOT attempt to tighten or loosen the wheel assembly bolts.
WARNING: TAMPERING WITH THE ASSEMBLY BOLTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY VOID THE
WARRANTY.
5. WHEEL CLEANING
In order to keep your wheels looking like new, regular cleaning is highly recommended
particularly in climates where salt or chemicals are used on the roads or likely to come into
contact with your wheels.
Please follow these wheel cleaning guidelines:
5.1. Never use any non-water based solvent chemical based cleaners or harsh cleaning
solutions
5.2. Use only mild soap and water with a soft, non-abrasive brush or cloth rag to clean
the wheels of dirt and debris
5.3. Spray-on, hose off type cleaners are strictly prohibited
5.4. Do not clean the wheels when they are still warm from operation of the vehicle.
Allow them to cool before attempting to hose off with water
5.5. Never use pressure washers for cleaning high performance wheels
5.6. A soft paste protective wax may be applied to your wheels to ease maintenance
and improve wheel appearance on clear-coated or painted wheels
N.B. Wheels that have not been kept clean, or have incorrect wheel cleaner applied,
will not be covered by warranty.

TECHNICAL WHEEL FITMENT GUIDE
Tyres should always be fitted by qualified or trained fitters using the correct equipment,
with experience of fitting premium wheels and tyres.
11. PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKS
11.1. Studs and mounting surfaces
Clean and inspect all stud threads and mounting surfaces. Threads must not be damaged
and must be free of corrosion, burrs and fractures. Replace any studs that are corroded or
damaged.
WARNING: DO NOT LUBRICATE THREADS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
11.2. Hub Fasteners (lug nuts or lug bolts)
Always use new hub fasteners when installing new wheels. Be certain that the fasteners
are correct for the application. It is critical that the fasteners match the thread diameter,
pitch and seat type; otherwise the installation will be incorrect, which could cause a
dangerous condition.
Types of fastener seats used for different wheel options are:
• Conical seat - Fastener has a tapered seat engagement into the wheel
• Flat seat - Fastener has a flat bottomed seat engagement into the wheel
• Radius seat - fastener has a radius seat engagement into the wheel
The “seat” means the area on the wheel where the fasteners will clamp down.
Thread diameter refers to the diameter of the stud measured at the outer edges of the
threads.
Thread pitch refers to:
• The number of threads per inch (imperial)
• The distance between the threads in millimetres
Check the thread engagement. Every stud or bolt must be long enough to thread a length
at least equal to the stud or bolt diameter. For example, a 0.5” thread diameter, must
thread into the lug nut at least 0.5”. Check for this problem on every stud as lengths may
vary. Less than one stud thread diameter engagement is unsafe and will cause loss of
torque and should not be used under any circumstances.
WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL THE WHEELS IF YOU FIND A PROBLEM. IF IN ANY
DOUBT WHATSOEVER AS TO THE SUITABILITY OF THE FASTENER, CONSULT YOUR
DEALER OR DYMAG DIRECTLY FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT
11.3. Maximum Load Rating
The maximum load rating of the wheel has been determined by Dymag and is marked
on the back of the spokes and is also shown in the product literature. Wheel load rating
requirements are determined by dividing the vehicle’s gross axle weight rating (G.A.W.R)
by two. The axle weight rating for most vehicles is shown on the identification label
located on the driver’s side door jamb, petrol tank door, boot lid or glove compartment.
WARNING: IF SUCH A LOAD RATING IS UNKNOWN OR UNAVAILABLE THE WHEEL
SHOULD NOT BE USED ON THE VEHICLE
WARNING: REGARDLESS OF THE TYRE’S MAXIMUM LOAD RATING, DO NOT EXCEED
THE MAXIMUM LOAD RATING OF THE WHEEL
IF IN ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER, CONSULT YOUR DEALER OR DYMAG DIRECTLY FOR
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
12. WHEELS FITMENT CHECK
Before mounting the tyres, perform a wheel fitment check at each wheel mounting
location using the following steps:
12.1. Remove front wheels from vehicle
12.2. Wire brush the wheel mounting surface and threaded studs on the vehicle
12.3. If applicable, remove any retaining clips. If not removed, they will prevent the

DYMAG® BOXSTROM™
CARBON HYBRID AUTOMOTIVE WHEELS
OWNERS GUIDE
14 www.dymag.com
wheel from sitting flush against the mounting surface. This will give a false torque
reading, which could cause the fasteners to loosen and result in the loss of
a wheel
12.4. Hold the new custom wheel on the vehicle hub and check for a flush mount of the
wheel to the mounting surface of the vehicle. The mounting surface of the wheel
must fit flush to the vehicle’s hub mounting surface. Whilst the wheel is held
in position, check that no part of the wheel rests, touches or obstructs the brake
drum, balancing weights, brake caliper, suspension component, rivets or any other
part
12.5. Install three fasteners finger tight and rotate the wheel to check caliper clearance
and suspension clearance and to find bent flanges or axles
12.6. Perform the same check on the remaining three wheels on the vehicle
13. TYRE CLEARANCE CHECK
The wheel manufacturing warranty does not cover tyre to fender clearance or tyre to
suspension clearance. This clearance must be fit-checked before mounting all of the tyres,
using the following procedure:
13.1. Mount one tyre on a wheel intended for use on the front of the vehicle (see tyre
fitting guide below)
13.2. Install the tyre/wheel assembly on the front hub and with the vehicle still on
the lift, turn the steering from extreme right to extreme left, whilst checking for
any interference with fender well, or suspension components
13.3. Lower the vehicle and repeat step two with the weight of the vehicle applied
13.4. Whilst observing the tyre/fender clearance, gain assistance to ”bounce” the front
of the vehicle to check that suspension travel does not cause tyre rub. Also check
that the wheel balance weights do not contact suspension components
13.5. Repeat process for the rear tyre/wheel assembly
WARNING: DO NOT PUT HANDS, FINGERS OR ANY BODY PART BETWEEN TYRE AND
VEHICLE WHILST CONDUCTING THESE CHECKS
14. TYRE FITTING GUIDE
14.1. Wheels and tyres are clearly marked with their sizes. Ensure that the wheel and
tyre sizes match before mounting
14.2. The tyre manufacturer’s rim width recommendations must be followed when
selecting wheel size
14.3. Mount all tyres according to the tyre manufacturers and the tyre machine
manufacturers recommended procedures. To avoid scratching or damaging a
wheel during mounting/dismounting of tyres, make sure that the tyre machine
is properly adjusted and all necessary protective covers are used where metal to
wheel contact is made. Mount the tyres using only wheel hub support tyre fitting
machines being careful to ensure that the tyre bead is pushed into the wheel well,
as the machine rotates to fit the tyre. Machines that clamp the rim may damage
the rim finish
14.4. Use tyre fitting lubricant generously on all bead surfaces of the wheel and tyre. It
is strongly recommended that a quality proprietary bead sealing compound is
used on all very low profile tyres (below 35% aspect ratio). This ensures a good
initial seal of the tyre bead to the wheel
14.5. Do not exceed 40 psi (pounds per square inch) of pressure when seating the tyre
to the head of the rim. If the tyre bead does not seat on the wheel at this
pressure, deflate the tyre, rotate the tyre 180 degrees on the rim, relubricate and
check for tyre/wheel size match before re-inflation
14.6. Once beads are seated, install valve core, reconnect the air chuck and inflate
the tyre until the correct pressure is reached according to the tyre manufacturer’s
recommendation. Check the bead edges and the valve for leaks, and then install
the valve cap
14.7. Protective eyewear should be used at all times during the mounting/dismounting,
installation and servicing of wheels
WARNING: DO NOT INFLATE THE MOUNTED TYRE WITH THE CENTRE-POST HOLD-
DOWN CONE, OR RIM CLAMPS TIGHTENED ON THE WHEEL.
LOOSEN THE HOLD-DOWN CONE, BUT DO NOT COMPLETELY REMOVE, AND
RELEASE THE RIM CLAMPS TO LET THE TYRE EXPAND.

DYMAG® BOXSTROM™
CARBON HYBRID AUTOMOTIVE WHEELS
OWNERS GUIDE
16 www.dymag.com
14.8. Balance the tyre/wheel assembly according to the balancing machines
recommended procedures, following ALL safety precautions
14.9. To reduce tyre wear, road noise and vibration, all four wheels should be balanced
dynamically
14.10. Wheels are checked for lateral and radial run-out before leaving the factory to
minimize balancing problems. Some balancing problems may be remedied by
deflating the tyre and rotating it through approximately 180 degrees on the rim,
re- inflating the tyre and rebalancing
15. WHEEL INSTALLATION
15.1. Hold the new custom wheel on the vehicle hub and tighten each fastener finger tight
15.2. Fasteners must be tightened in a crisscross pattern to ensure uniform pressure
and alignment. Apply torque evenly by repeating the crisscross pattern until the
desired torque is reached
15.3. During installation, gravity causes the wheel to rest upon the highest stud. If the
wheel is clamped down off-centre, it can be dangerous and damaging to your
wheel and tyres
15.4. A calibrated torque device must be used to achieve the correct torque setting,
as specified by the Original Equipment Manufacturer. If it is not specified in the
vehicle owner’s manual, contact the vehicle manufacturer
16. GENERAL NOTES
WARNING: IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER REGARDING ANY ASPECT OF
THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, DO NOT INSTALL THE WHEELS.
INSTEAD CONSULT YOUR DEALER OR DYMAG DIRECTLY FOR TECHNICAL SUPPORT
16.1. Read the owner’s manual and warnings in conjunction with these guidelines
16.2. Do not allow the lug nut to bottom out on the stud. If using lug bolts, do not allow
the bolt to bottom out on the mounting surfaces. Either condition is extremely
dangerous and unsafe because the clamping force of the fastener is not being
applied to the wheel. Check each stud individually for these problems as some
lengths may vary
16.3. Never use fewer fasteners than the wheel and vehicle was designed for. If the
wheel has 5 holes, then use 5 fasteners
16.4. When placing the wheel on the studs, there may be an apparent looseness of fit
until the fasteners are applied
17. AFTER INSTALLATION
17.1. Wheel hub fasteners should be retorqued at approximately 25 miles
17.2. Retorquing must be carried out any time the wheel hub fasteners are removed
for any reason
17.3. Routinely check and maintain recommended tyre pressures
