NOTES
Please read the instruction manual thoroughly before using your new appliance. It is important to keep these
instructions as a useful reminder that’ll help you enjoy the many features available. The manufacturer is not
responsible if the appliance becomes damaged or defective as a result of the user not following the information
included in the instruction manual. If the appliance becomes faulty during regular use, it should only be repaired
by an authorised service engineer.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
The following safety instructions must be followed when using the appliance.
Please read this section very carefully!
Of course, it’s not possible for us to anticipate or provide safety rules for every specific situation, so we ask you to
apply commonsense precautions when using the appliance in a situation that isn’t described below.
• Neverusetheapplianceoutdoors.
• Thisdeviceisnotsupposedtobeusedbyphysicallyormentallyhandicappedpeople,orpersonswithout
experience or knowledge (including children, as well), unless such a person supervises or guides their use of
the device, who is at the same time responsible for their safety. As for children, supervision is recommended
to make sure that they do not play with the device. This device is not supposed to be used by children under
the age of 14, not even with supervision!
• Neveruseanapplianceoraccessorythatthemanufacturerdidnotsupplywithorproposeforusewiththe
appliance. The use of such appliances might lead to accidents or irregular function.

can be used within the temperature range of +5°C to +40°C and stored within the range of -10°C to +55°C.

Dear Customer,
All electrical and mechanical equipment needs to be cared for appropriately. It’s important to
note that using or storing the appliance in certain conditions may adversely affect its lifespan and
functionality. Always protect the appliance from the conditions listed below.
Using or storing the appliance in a wet, humid or damp environment can cause:
- deterioration and premature aging of the cover and electric insulation of the appliance,
- premature wearing and aging of the plastic and rubber components,
- rust and corrosion affecting electrical components and metal parts.
Using the appliance in a dusty environment or in the kitchen (where the air may be contaminated
with vapours from cooking oil or grease) can cause:
- greasy dust coatings on the mechanical and electrical elements and the casing of the appliance,
which could result in electrical contact failure or even complete breakdown, and could also
damage the plastic and rubber elements.
The effects of direct sunlight on the appliance can include:
- accelerated deterioration of the appliance casing and its plastic and rubber components,
damage to strength and other structural features. The appliance’s surface may become porous
and fragile, which may result in a safety risk.
Continuous heavy duty use may cause:
- premature structural wear and tear and premature aging of the motor due to extensive use of
the appliance, resulting from wear and tear and overheating due to continuous use.
Storing the appliance in cold or frosty environment may cause:
- damage to the plastic and rubber components; if they become fragile, this may result in a safety
risk.
- oxidation resulting from condensation, and corrosion of the metal components.
Direct and indirect heat (e.g. being too close to an oven or a heating appliance) can cause:
- damage, deformation, softening or melting of plastic or rubber parts and casing elements, or
deterioration of electrical insulation.
Following the operating instructions and avoiding any of the conditions listed above will help you
increase the lifespan of the appliance. The manufacturer is not responsible if the appliance is stored
inappropriately or contrary to these instructions. You are recommended to have the appliance
serviced regularly by an authorised engineer to keep it working for as long as possible.
In order to maintain permanent reliable and accurate measurement please, have the measurement
accuracy of the device checked at an authorised measurement point, assigned for calibration, not
later than after one year of use. The checking should be repeated at least yearly, for your safety.

• If your appliance is damaged or operates in an abnormal way, immediately stop using it and take it to an
authorised service engineer for checking, repair or adjustment.
• The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage that results from overuse, incorrect operation, incorrect
maintenance, neglecting the information given in the instruction manual or normal wear and tear. In
addition, the manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by any parts of the appliance breaking or
cracking.
• Donotimmersetheapplianceinwateroranyotherliquid!Ifhumiditygetsintotheappliance,itcancause
defects, so do not use it in the bathroom or any other room where there is high humidity.
• Attention! Should the appliance, despite your caution, fall into water or make contact with humidity in any
other way, please take it to the authorized service station and have it checked by an expert before re-using it!
We have to call your attention to the fact that if the product becomes defective due to environmental effects
like this, it will be considered as improper handling, and the manufacturer’s warranty will lapse!
• If you do not use the appliance for a longer period of time (more than 1 month) then please remove the
batteries from the battery holder. If you do not do this, corrosive chemicals may escape from the batteries
and damage the appliance.
• Attention! The appliance must not be disassembled, its casing must not be removed, or its repair attempted.
There are no parts inside the appliance that could be home repaired or used for any other purpose. In the
case of any defect of the appliance please have it repaired only by an authorized special service station. The
manufacturer does not undertake any warranty for any improper attempt at repair, or any intervention
performed by unauthorized persons.
Keep your environment clean! After use the appliance cannot be disposed together with solid
residential waste, because it can seriously damage living beings and human health. Please hand
over the appliance - at the end of its lifetime - to a waste disposal facility specializing in collecting
electrical appliances, or to a waste disposal facility performing recycling or environmental friendly
disposal of electrical appliances. In addition please never put spent batteries removed from the
appliance in the household waste, but take them to a collecting point designated for this purpose,
because spent batteries are hazardous waste, they contaminate the environment if they are not
disposed of, collected or destroyed in an environmentally friendly way.
• The apparatus can be supplied with batteries or an adapter. An accumulator cannot be used for supply.
Please, use only those adapters which comply with the measures of the standards EN60601-1 and EN60601-
1-2.
• Please use only batteries as specified in the instruction manual. Other batteries (other size or shape) cannot
be inserted in the appliance and it may become inoperable or damaged when used with batteries supplying a
different voltage.
• Please always replace all the batteries at the same time and by the same type.
• Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household waste, because they will endanger the environment!
Please use a dedicated waste container provided for this purpose or a collecting station for disposing of used
batteries!

• Never throw the batteries in the fire, because they can explode.
• Always switch the appliance off after use, and in case of longer storage remove the batteries from the battery
holder.
• Special care must be taken of the arm cuff of the blood pressure monitor; it must not be crushed, bent or have
force applied to it.
• The appliance is intended only for adults and for human use, and it can only be used as specified in the
instruction manual.
• Please, before using the apparatus ask for your physician’s opinion in the case of a severe cardiac insufficiency
or any other known illnesses.
Important information!
We have to advise you that although the appliance outputs very precise measured values, the
values can only considered as informative data by which you can check the condition of your
health, or in the case of persons under medical treatment, it can be used for regular self-checking
of the blood pressure at home. The pressure gauge will provide precise values only if used as
specified in the user’s manual. Should you happen to measure a blood pressure differing from the
normal, healthy pressure, or if you have any doubt in respect of the measured value, please have
your blood pressure checked by a specialist doctor for diagnostic purposes, so that you can control
the value measured by the appliance. We recommend that you take the appliance with you and
ask for the advice of the doctor.
• Donotusetheapplianceneartoappliancesemittingelectromagneticwaves(e.g.mobilephonesor
microwave ovens). They can disturb the appliance resulting in faulty measurement and incorrect values.
Please keep this instruction manual. If you give the appliance to anyone else, you must give them
this instruction manual, too!

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT BLOOD PRESSURE
Blood circulation ensures an appropriate supply of oxygen to the body. Blood pressure is the pressure the blood
exerts on the artery wall. The systolic value (upper value) can be measured when the myocardium contracts and
forces blood into the arteries. The diastolic value (lower value) is measured when the myocardium relaxes and
blood flows from the veins into the heart.

In the human body, blood pressure increases naturally with age. This is the result of aging of the blood vessels.
Increased blood pressure can be further aggravated by smoking, regular consumption of alcohol and drinks
containing caffeine, extreme salt consumption, stress and lack of regular exercise. Also latent diseases such
asproblemswiththekidneysorahighlevelofcholesterol(LDL)cancauseincreasedbloodpressure,because
they result in the blood vessels losing flexibility. High blood pressure increases the risk of a stroke or myocardial
infarction.Duetothefactthathighbloodpressurecausessymptomsthatcanremainunnoticedforalongtime,
it is necessary to check our blood pressure regularly, to make sure that it is within the healthy range. A person’s
blood pressure fluctuates during the day, as a result of exercise or changes in our mood, and this is why only the
average of several measurements or the number of changes can give us meaningful results.

The average of the measured blood pressure values can be evaluated on the basis of the figure below. Systolic
values below 90 indicate low blood pressure.

If the average of the blood pressure values measured by you differs from the normal values given in the table, or
themeasuredvaluesshowsignificantfluctuationsandthustheyfrequentlydifferfromthehealthyvalues,we
advise you to consult your doctor. Only specialist doctors can make a correct diagnosis, based on measurements
made with medical instruments. Furthermore, we recommend that you take your blood pressure monitor with
you, as it is necessary to check the calibration of your device from time to time.
In addition to the medical treatment prescribed by your doctor you can promote efficient reduction of your blood
pressure by observing the following suggestions:
-Slimmingcourseordietthatwouldreducethelevelofharmfulcholesterol(LDL)
- Reducing the consumption of drinks containing alcohol and caffeine
- Giving up smoking
- Moderate salt consumption
- Regular exercise

POWER SUPPLY OF THE APPLIANCE
The apparatus can be supplied with batteries (Mignon, AA, LR6) or an adapter. An accumulator cannot be used for
supply. Please, use only those EN60601-1 and EN60601-1-2 standard compliant adapters which are suitable for
providingDC6V,1A.
Never use an adapter and a battery at the same time. If you would like to operate the apparatus with an adapter,
please, remove the batteries before that.
In the case of using an adapter, please, connect the adapter to the apparatus, then plug the adapter into the wall
socket.
In the case of using batteries, please, follow the steps below:
1. Please, push the lid of the battery holder in the direction of the arrow, then remove it from the battery
holder.
2. Insert the batteries in the battery holder according to the marked polarity.
3. Finally replace the cover of the battery holder and check its position.
Awarningindicationonthedisplayappearswhenthebatteryrequireschanging:
If you do not use the appliance for a longer period of time, please remove the batteries from the battery holder,
because corrosive electrolyte can possibly escape and damage the appliance. (The manufacturer accepts no
responsibility for appliances damaged this way.) To avoid this harmful phenomenon please absolutely observe
the following:
• Please always insert the batteries with the correct polarity (+ and -) according to the marks on the battery
holder.
• Never use spent and new batteries at the same time.
• Never use batteries of different make and type at the same time.
• Spent batteries must be replaced immediately with new ones. If you do not use the appliance for a longer
period of time, please remove the batteries from the battery holder.
• Please never dispose of spent batteries in the household waste - for environmental reasons, but take them to
a designated collecting point.
USING OF APPLIANCE

• WiththeapparatusturnedoffpressandholdtheSTART/STOPbuttonfor3-4secondsuntilthesymbolofthe
storage place begins to blink on the display.

• WithpressingtheMEMbuttonyoucanchoosebetweenthetwostorageplaces,thenyoucanmoveonwith
pressing the START/STOP button.
• Firstyoucansetupthemonth,thentheday,thehours(AM=morning,
PM=afternoon) and the minutes. You can increase the figures with
pressing the MEM button and you can move on to the next function with
the START/STOP button.
• Whenyouhavefinishedwiththeset-up,please,switchofftheapparatus
with holding the START/STOP button.
Putting on the air cuff of the blood pressure monitor:
• Connectthecufftotheappliance,bypluggingthepumpconnector
(subassembly number 8) into the socket (subassembly number 7) (Make
sure there is a good fit.)
• Removeallclothingfromyourupperarm,becausethecuffoftheblood
pressure monitor must make good contact with the skin.
• Sitatatablewhereyoucancomfortablysupportyourlowerarmsothat
your left arm, where the blood pressure is measured, would be at the
height of your heart.
• Placethearmcuffofthebloodpressuremonitorsothatthetubeleads
to the pump, and its side with the Velcro is on the outside and pull it
through the metal frame. Fold back the Velcro end of the arm cuff round
the frame.
• Slipyourlefthandthroughthearmcuffandpullthecuffontoyourupper
arm.
• Thetubeofthearmcuffmustfacetheinsidepartofthearmandthe
bottom edge of the arm cuff should be 1-2 cm above the elbow.
• FixthearmcufftightlyontheupperarmwiththeVelcrointheposition
described above, so that it cannot slip and no gap remains between the
upper arm and the arm cuff.
• Restyourhandonthetablewithyourpalmupwards,andyourfingers
loosely bent during the whole measurement time.
How to measure blood pressure
In order to obtain characteristic measured values, please do not perform strong physical work or exercise,
butrestfor5-10minutes.Donoteat,drinkandsmokedirectlybeforeorwhilemakingmeasurements.Some
abnormalities e.g. arrhythmia or fibrillation can cause incorrect measurement results.

1. Press the “START/STOP” button. First, for a short time all symbols will appear on the display. This way
the correct operation of the display can be checked. After the self-test the apparatus releases the residual
pressure from the cuff - then the pumping up of the cuff begins.
2. The apparatus pumps up the cuff automatically to a magnitude of 190 Hg mm, then it decreases the pressure
gradually. In case of a higher blood pressure value the apparatus automatically pumps the cuff further twice
orthreetimesforthesakeofasuccessfulmeasurement.Duringthemeasurementthesymbolofpulse
marked with a heart blinks following the rhythm of the pulse.
3. At the end of the measurement a sound signal can be heard and the blood pressure and the pulse values
appear on the display. The measured values are automatically stored within the memory of the apparatus, as
well.
4. The appliance can be switched off after the measurement by pressing the “START/STOP” button, or it will
automatically switch off after 3 minutes.
The measurement can be interrupted with the pressing of the START/STOP button at any time. Then the
apparatus releases the pressure of the cuff immediately.
Remarks: Please wait 5-10 minutes before making another measurement. The blood vessels need this time to
regain their original condition after the measurement. An even longer waiting time may be necessary in the case
of certain persons taking psychological factors into account.
Memory functions:
After the measurements the apparatus stores the blood pressure and pulse data automatically within its memory.
The memory of the apparatus is suitable for storing 60-60 of the latest measurement data per person. When the
memory is full with the first 60 measurement data, the oldest data are deleted during the next measurements.
The apparatus has an averaging function, which makes the average of the result of the last 3 measurements.
1. The memory function of the apparatus can be activated after the measurement, or with the apparatus
switched off. With pressing the “MEM” button once after the measurement, the results of the earlier
measurements can be displayed.
2. With pressing the “MEM” button again the data measured before can be displayed in a reverse chronological
order. You can see the symbol NO and the number of the stored value.
After switching off if you press the button “MEM”, the average of the last 3 measurements appears first.
To delete the data stored within the memory, first switch on the turned-off apparatus with pressing the “MEM”
button once, then press and hold the “START/STOP” button until horizontal lines appear on the screen in the place
of the numbers.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
• Donotstoretheapparatusinawetorhumidplace.Theapparatuscanbestoredwithinthetemperature
range of -10 and +55 °C.
• Ifyoudonotusethebloodpressuremonitorforalongerperiodoftime,pleaseremovethebatteriesfromthe
battery holder.
• Useadampened,fluff-freeclothforcleaningthecoverandthearmcuffoftheappliance,thencarefullywipe
them with a dry cloth.
• Lettheappliancedrycompletelybeforeputtingitintouseorstorage.
• Inordertohavereliableandprecisemeasurements,havetheappliancecheckedbyyourdoctoreachyear.
When cleaning the appliance never immerse the appliance or the arm cuff in water and do not
spray them with water.
Never disassemble the appliance.
When cleaning the appliance, never use solvent (acetone, benzole, petrol, alcohol, etc.) as these
maysolvethecasingmaterial,ortheinternalpartsoftheapplianceiftheygetinto.Donotuse
cleaning agents with coarse or grinding effect.
