• For small theaters
• Bi-amplified 3-way s reen hannel loudspeaker
The CB153 full-range s reen hannel loudspeaker system offers
small theaters ost-effe tive a ess to the future of inema audio -
threeway loudspeaker design. Its passive mid/high bi-amplified
design lets it repla e existing bi-amped two-way systems without
requiring new ele troni rossovers or amplifiers. (Ele troni
rossovers settings may need to be adjusted.)
The two omponent system onsists of a BV154C low frequen y
en losure and an HK153 passive mid/high system.
Three-way design dramati ally advan es inema audio quality by
improving the naturalness and intelligibility of dialog, eliminating
distortion from ex essive driver ex ursion and extending pattern
ontrol into the lower o taves.
The HK153 features an 8-in MF one transdu er and a 1-in exit high
frequen y ompression driver loaded with EAW’s patented Wave
Guide Plate (WGP™).
The BV154C’s optimally vented en losure uses the en losure’s reso-
nan e to in rease LF response while limiting the single 15-in one
transdu er’s ex ursion. This method produ es less distortion and
minimizes driver strain while extending LF response to the lowest
o taves.
Its asymmetri al en losure design smooths response in the LF om-
ponent’s upper register and minimizes the potential for standing
waves inside the en losure. Left and right side en losures an be
pla ed flush to a ba k wall while still fo using their output to the
audien e area. The en losure an be inverted to provide a right or
left-handed angle.
The LF en losure has 2 mounting points to allow optimum front/rear
positioning of the mid/high omponent. The adjustable steel bra k-
et atta hing the mid/high omponent to the LF en losure allows the
mid/high se tion be be aimed independently of the LF se tion in
both the horizontal and verti al planes and an be lo ked on e it is
positioned.
The LF and MF/HF se tions in lude 2-terminal barrier strips whi h
a ommodate bare wire, tinned leads or spade lugs. The input pan-
els are lo ated on the sides of the en losures for onvenient a ess
in ramped installation areas.

COMPONENTS & CONSTRUCTION

The CB153 is a ompa t, bi-amplified (passive mid/high), three-way,
high-output, full range loudspeaker system intended for use in
behind-s reen inema appli ations. The two omponent system
onsists of a BV154C low frequen y en losure and an HK153 passive
mid/high system.
The system requires the use of an external a tive ele troni rossover
between the LF and mid/high se tions with a maximum re ommend-
ed rossover point of 350 Hz. The mid/high omponent in ludes a
internal passive rossover/filter network with the rossover set at
1.8 kHz. EAW’s omplex, omputer-designed passive filter networks
are tightly aligned to the loudspeakers they ontrol and go beyond
merely dividing the signal, performing riti al equalization
fun tions.
The BV154C low frequen y omponent features a single 15-in low
frequen y driver mounted in an asymmetri al, vented en losure for
ex ellent bass extension and high output level apability with low
distortion.
The HK153 mid/high omponent features a 1-in exit ompression
driver loaded with EAW’s proprietary WGP® (Wave Guide Plate) and a
dire t radiating 8-in mid frequen y one transdu er.
The LF abinet is onstru ted of 3/4-in Medium Density Fiberboard
(MDF). The mid/high en losure is onstru ted entirely of the MDF.
Extensive internal bra ing is provided for both the LF and mid/high
se tions to minimize panel resonan es resulting from the large
a ousti al energies generated within the en losure while maximizing
a ousti al energy transfer into the audien e area. The en losures and
all external parts are oated with a textured bla k finish.
Input onne tors for both the LF and mid/high se tions are 2-
terminal barrier strips. Separate input onne tors for the LF and
mid/high se tions are lo ated on the side of the en losure for
onvenient a ess in ramped installations areas.
The adjustable steel bra ket atta hing the mid/high omponent to
the LF en losure allows the mid/high se tion to be aimed independ-
ently of the LF se tion in both the horizontal and verti al planes and
an be lo ked on e it is positioned. The LF en losure has 2 mount-
ing points to allow optimum front/rear positioning of the mid/high
omponent.
All external omponents feature a textured bla k finish to eliminate
the refle tion of light through perforated inema s reens
