read the other side. We recommend that you read the door lock
first. Then if necessary, read the trunk or ignition to compare
spaces and depths.
4. Capture a wafer in the trap slot by gently rocking the key tool
back and forth to unlock the wafers from the lock case. The wafer
will usually "click"
and lock into the trap
slot. If the trap slot
is pointing upward
on the door and deck
locks, you will be
reading the wafers in
the space positions of 1,3,5, and 7. Your EEZ Y157 tool has four
dots on it that will line up with the face cap to indicate which space
you are reading. If the trap slot is pointing downward on the door
and deck locks, you will be reading wafers in the space positions
of 2,4, and 6. The EEZ Reader will line up between the dots at the
face cap.
If you are reading the ignition lock with the trap slot pointing up,
the EEZ Y157 has four lines on it that will line up with the ignition
scalp. The other side of the tool has three line that will line up with
the ignition scalp with the trap slot pointing downward. Depending
on the model vehicle, you may need assistance of a mirror in
reading this side of the ignition.
5. With the wafer captured, move the slide tool towards the traps
slot (tip of the key tool), very lightly, until it gently touches and
stops. This means that the slide tool has come into contact with the
trapped wafer.
6. Read and record the depth.
