backgrounds. Game mode increases saturation to make
objects in dark scenes more distinct so gamers can easily
discern what they are seeing and react accordingly.
Remote Control, Direct Command
Available with a FlexScan monitor for the
first time, this new remote offers full control of
the OSD menu plus one-touch access to picture-
in-picture, screen size, and PC/HDMI input
selection. The intuitive design makes it ideal
for gaming, film viewing, or any other situation
where you may be at a distance from the monitor.
Ergonomic, Adjustable Stand
EIZO’s innovative ArcSwing 2 Stand offers a curved
range of movement so you can easily position the screen at
eye level or at a shallow angle akin to reading a book for a
more natural viewing posture.
Optimized Brightness
The BrightRegulator function detects changes in the
ambient brightness and signals the backlight to adjust the
screen brightness accordingly. This ensures the screen is
never too bright or too dark, thereby preventing eye fatigue
when working, playing games or watching videos.
Three Cabinet Colors
Available in titanium silver, black, and piano black.
Commitment to Quality
While outsourc-
ing production is now
common practice in
the monitor industry,
EIZO continues to
manufacture its prod-
ucts the same way it
has throughout its 40
year history – with
its own staff at its
factories in Japan.
This allows EIZO
to keep close control over production quality and offer the
industry’s only 5-year manufacturer’s limited warranty.
Customer Assurance
Compliance with leading ergonomic, safety, and energy
standards such as TCO’03 and TÜV Ergonomics ensures a
better environment for work and play. The EIZO Eco Prod-
ucts 2006 label indicates this product meets strict internal
requirements for manufacturing, packaging, and energy
savings.
LCD TV Image Quality with
Next-Generation ASIC
The HD2442W incorporates an ASIC
(application specific integrated circuit)
originally developed by EIZO for use in
LCD TVs. The ASIC produces images that
look more natural by boosting contrast and reducing mo-
tion picture blur.
3000:1 Dynamic Contrast
EIZO’s ContrastEnhancer adjusts the brightness, gain,
and gamma of images to their ideal levels in real time. The
resulting dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1 ensures the
monitor consistently produces deep blacks and vivid colors
as moving images are displayed.
Rich Tonal Reproduction
While computer monitors display tones from pure white
to pure black in a range of 0 to 255, broadcast media and
entertainment equipment display these same tones from 16
to 235. As a result, when computer monitors display video
or game content, images often look dull and washed out.
The HD2442W, however, displays video signals in the 16 to
235 range so it reproduces these tones exactly as intended.
Ideal Screen Ratio
The ideal screen ratio de-
pends on two factors — what
you are using the monitor
for and what your personal
preferences are. To this end,
EIZO offers three settings:
Standard (overscan), Full
Image (underscan), and Full
Screen. Standard eliminates
extraneous television broad-
cast data and production
equipment that sometimes
appears at the edges of the
screen. Full Image reveals
nearly 100% of the screen
image and is suited for film
viewing and gaming. Full
Screen expands images to
fill the entire screen and is
ideal for anyone who does
not want to see the black bars
that appear across the top
and bottom in Standard and
Full Image modes.
Flawless Motion Picture Playback
Motion picture film is generally shot and projected
at 24 frames per second (fps). Motion pictures shown on
TVs or monitors without 24 fps display capability pro-
duce motion artifacts known as “judder” during frame or
“pulldown” conversion. Judder is especially noticeable in
panning or scrolling movements, with transitions between
adjacent film frames appearing rough and staggered. The
HD2442W’s 1080/24p (48 Hz) display capability ensures
video playback as smooth as you would see in a cinema.
Input Lag of Just One Frame
New to the HD2442W, “Thru” mode reduces input lag,
or the difference between the time a signal is input into the
monitor and then shown on the screen, by one frame with a
progressive signal and two frames with an interlace signal.
The resulting delay of approximately one frame, or a mere
1/60th of a second, allows gamers to see the action as it
happens and react immediately.
Do Two Things at Once with Picture-in-Picture
Displaying content from a PC on the main screen while
showing video input on a sub-
screen, Picture-in-Picture lets
you do two things at once
such as check e-mail while
watching a Blu-ray disc. The
transparency and location of
the sub-screen is easily ad-
justed through the onscreen
display menu.
PC and Video Viewing Modes
Several viewing modes are available for both computer
and AV sources. For PCs, there’s Text, Movie, Picture,
Game, sRGB, and Custom (user-defined). For AV devices,
there’s Standard, Dynamic, and Custom modes, as well
as Cinema and Game modes, which are available for the
first time with the HD2442W. Cinema mode enhances film
viewing by bringing out fine detail such as subtle differ-
ences in flesh tones and darker tones often visible in scene
Multiple Ports for PC and AV Connectivity
The HD2442W comes with dual PC and dual High-
Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports to connect
not only to PCs, but also the latest HD game consoles and
audio-visual (AV) devices such as Blu-ray. Two USB ports
on the side of the monitor offer easy connection to peripher-
als like digital cameras, and MP3 players. Sound from all
connected devices can be routed through an external set of
speakers or AV devices connected through the HDMI inputs.

you are using the monitor
for and what your personal
preferences are. To this end,
EIZO offers three settings:
Standard (overscan), Full
Image (underscan), and Full
Screen. Standard eliminates
extraneous television broad-
cast data and production
equipment that sometimes
appears at the edges of the
screen. Full Image reveals
nearly 100% of the screen
image and is suited for film
viewing and gaming. Full
Screen expands images to
fill the entire screen and is
ideal for anyone who does
not want to see the black bars
that appear across the top
and bottom in Standard and
Full Image modes.
Flawless Motion Picture Playback
Motion picture film is generally shot and projected
at 24 frames per second (fps). Motion pictures shown on
TVs or monitors without 24 fps display capability pro-
duce motion artifacts known as “judder” during frame or
“pulldown” conversion. Judder is especially noticeable in
panning or scrolling movements, with transitions between
adjacent film frames appearing rough and staggered. The
HD2442W’s 1080/24p (48 Hz) display capability ensures
video playback as smooth as you would see in a cinema.
Input Lag of Just One Frame
New to the HD2442W, “Thru” mode reduces input lag,
or the difference between the time a signal is input into the
monitor and then shown on the screen, by one frame with a
progressive signal and two frames with an interlace signal.
The resulting delay of approximately one frame, or a mere
1/60th of a second, allows gamers to see the action as it
happens and react immediately.
Do Two Things at Once with Picture-in-Picture
Displaying content from a PC on the main screen while
showing video input on a sub-
screen, Picture-in-Picture lets
you do two things at once
such as check e-mail while
watching a Blu-ray disc. The
transparency and location of
the sub-screen is easily ad-
justed through the onscreen
display menu.
PC and Video Viewing Modes
Several viewing modes are available for both computer
and AV sources. For PCs, there’s Text, Movie, Picture,
Game, sRGB, and Custom (user-defined). For AV devices,
there’s Standard, Dynamic, and Custom modes, as well
as Cinema and Game modes, which are available for the
first time with the HD2442W. Cinema mode enhances film
viewing by bringing out fine detail such as subtle differ-
ences in flesh tones and darker tones often visible in scene
Multiple Ports for PC and AV Connectivity
The HD2442W comes with dual PC and dual High-
Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports to connect
not only to PCs, but also the latest HD game consoles and
audio-visual (AV) devices such as Blu-ray. Two USB ports
on the side of the monitor offer easy connection to peripher-
als like digital cameras, and MP3 players. Sound from all
connected devices can be routed through an external set of
speakers or AV devices connected through the HDMI inputs.
