Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the USB 3.0 Memory reader/writer, MR3-K012 Series.
This product is a memory reader/writer used by connecting to the USB port of Windows®PC / Macintosh.
This instruction manual explains how to use the product. Please read this manual thoroughly before using
the product for the correct way to use it.
Safety Precautions
When connecting and disconnecting this product, always observe the manufacturer’s
precautions regarding the main unit of the connected devices and peripheral devices.
Do not attempt to disassemble, modify or repair this product.
Doing so may cause a fire, an electric shock, or product damage. Any product damage caused
by such behavior shall not be guaranteed.
Do not use this product or any device to which this product is connected in areas where water is
used or with high humidity.
Doing so may cause a fire, an electric shock, or product damage.
Before touching this product for connecting and disconnecting, be sure to touch a metal object
(such as a steel desk or a metal door handle) to discharge static electricity.
Static electricity may damage this product.
If any abnormality is sensed, stop using the product immediately, and contact the retailer you
purchased the product from.
Use or store this product out of children’s reach. Accidentally swallowing this may cause
suffocation or a health hazard. Contact a doctor immediately if a child has swallowed it or is
suspected to have swallowed it.
Usage Precautions
• This product is for USB3.0. If connected to the USB port of a USB2.0 interface, the transfer rate will
be in accordance with USB2.0.
• It may take a minute or so for this product to be recognized by the device after it has been connected.
• Reading/writing may not be available for some of the specially formatted or old type media.
• When using media with a digital camera or a mobile phone, format the media in these devices.
• Media formatted using a PC may not be applicable. In such cases, format (initialize) the media using
the device to be used.
• When removing this product, observe the method described in this manual, otherwise files may be
lost.
• ELECOM Co., Ltd. shall bear no responsibility whatsoever for any data loss or damage resulting
from the use of this product.
• Use this product and media with attention to the connecting directions.
• This product does not support standby or sleep modes.
• This product does not support I/O type cards including modems.
• Do not use this product in humid or dusty environments.
• Never allow a strong shock to the product.
• To clean the product, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth.
• Do not use benzene, paint thinner, alcohol or similar liquids.

How to insert a memory card
Make sure to insert the memory card into the proper memory card slot in a correct orientation and straight manner.
For the latest information on supported media, visit the official ELECOM website ( www.elecom.co.jp/).
Do not insert the card with the terminal end up-side-down or a different card, otherwise the terminal and/or the
data may be damaged.
See the reverse side of the manual for the information on connecting to/removing from each terminal.
Explanation on parts and information on the memory card slot
LED
Red light turns on when the memory card is inserted. The red light flickers during reading/writing.
Do not remove the memory card from the slot when the LED of this product is
flickering.
Do not disconnect this product from the PC.
Doing so may cause product damage and result in file damage or loss.

When using SDXC memory cards / microSDXC memory cards:
Can be written to or read directly with Windows®10, Windows®8.1, Windows®7, and Windows Vista®(SP1 or above).
Update to SP1 or above for using with Windows Vista®.
Update to SP2 or above and install the update program for using with Windows®X P.
For more details on the update program, refer to the Microsoft document No. KB955704.
Supports exFAT format for MAC OS®X, 10.6.5 and later.

Windows®drive letters
With Windows®, three memory-card slots are allocated to one drive.
The drive icon will be displayed when a memory card is inserted.
(The case shown in the brackets is an example when the last drive
letter of the PC is “E.”)
Only one memory card slot can be used at a time.
With Windows®10, Windows®8.1 and Windows®7, the drive icon
will appear once a memory card is inserted.

Disconnect this product from the PC. Do not remove the product while the LED is flickering.

With Windows®7, Windows Vista®, and
Windows®XP, the notification of the
completion of installation is displayed in
the task tray or the notification area.
Now, this product and the PC are
connected.

Pull out the USB cable
from the product.

Insert a memory card in the appropriate
slot with the correct orientation and
alignment.

The inserted memory card can be accessed.
With Windows®10 and Windows®8.1,
click a pop-up window when one appears.
If an Auto Play dialog box appears, select the action that you want
Windows to perform.
*If the card is empty,
the removable disk will
automatically open.

Open “Computer” (“My computer” with Windows®
XP).
Right-click the removable disk to which the memory
card was allocated, and then click “Eject” on the
menu.

Select the removable disk to which the memory card is
allocated, and click on the “Manage” tab in File Explorer.

Click the icon ( , , ) in the task tray or the notification
area.
* Click when it is displayed in the notification area with
Windows®7, then click the USB icon ( ).

• If USB devices or PC cards other than this product are used, each name will be displayed.
In this case, click the notification for this product (indicating a “USB mass storage device”).

desktop screen.

Remove the memory card. Do not remove a memory card while the LED is flickering.
If the PC does not recognize this product
If the PC does not recognize this product, remove it from the PC, and
try connecting it again.
Even if this product is recognized, the drive icon will not be
displayed until a memory card is inserted.
With Windows Vista®and Windows®XP, the drive icon is always
displayed when this product is being recognized.
How to access the drives with Windows®8.1
To access the drives with Windows®8.1, follow the method below.
Right-click “start button” on the
left corner of the screen, and
then, click File Explorer.
“PC” will open.
* Screen-displayed contents may partly depending on the PC.

How to access the drives with Windows®10
To access the drives with Windows®10, follow the method below.
For the tablet mode
Touch the App button on the start screen.
Touch “File Explorer.”
Select the removable disk of this product from “PC.”
For the desktop mode
Start “File Explorer” by any of the following methods, A, B, and C.
Click “start menu” and then, click Explore.
Click the “File Explorer” icon in the task tray.
Right-click “start menu”and then, click “File Explorer.”
Select the removable disk of the product from “PC.”
Disconnect this product from the USB port of the PC.

With Windows®7, the “Safe to Remove Hardware”

With Windows Vista®and Windows®XP, proceed to step
