WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!
This is a Quick Start guide for your new electric bicycle (e-bike).
A comprehensive Electric Bicycle Owner’s Manual specic to your model can be
found on our website under “Manuals and user guides”, or you can access it by
scanning the QR code on the last page of this guide. If you do not have access to a
computer or the internet, you can request a printed manual from your authorized
Electra bike shop.
Even if you’ve been riding a bike for years, you should read this Quick Start guide,
the bicycle Owner’s Manual that came with your e-bike, and the comprehensive
Electric Bicycle Owner’s Manual (specic to your model) before your rst ride.
The manuals contain important safety information and useful suggestions about
the proper use and maintenance of your e-bike and how to properly dispose of
electrical components.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RIDING YOUR NEW E-BIKE
1. Start slow
We know — fast is fun. But e-bikes take a bit of getting used to. It may be tempting
to ramp your e-bike up to the fastest setting right away, but we recommend taking
it nice and easy the rst few rides. Start on the low assist setting and learn the
feel of free speed.
2. Brake sooner
E-bikes are heavier than normal bikes, and they move faster. More power, more speed,
and more weight mean once you get moving, you’ll need more time to react, so you
should start slowing down sooner on your e-bike than you would on a normal bike.
3. A faster bike gets stronger brakes
We put the latest brake technology on your e-bike, and it works really well —
maybe even better than you expect. When you’re getting used to your new e-bike,
start braking with a lighter hand and a gradual pull of the brake levers.
And never grab just your front brake lever — brake with both front and rear evenly.
4. You’re faster than you look
E-bikes look just like regular bikes, so drivers and pedestrians might not expect
you to be riding as fast as your e-bike allows. Until everyone is accustomed to the
look and speed of e-bikes, ride with extra care and pay greater attention to your
surroundings.
5. All bike rules still apply
While your new e-bike will bring you a new level of freedom and fun, you’re still
responsible for knowing and following all the rules of the road, paths, and trails in
your area. Have fun out there, but with greater speed, there is greater responsibility!

BASIC OPERATION OF THE HYENA ASSIST SYSTEM
See the rst pages of this guide for the Figures referenced below.
1. Turning the e-bike system on/off (Figure A)
•Single press the power button to switch on the system.
•Press the power button longer than 2 seconds to switch off the system.
•Riding with the assist system turned off is like riding a normal, non-electric
powered bicycle.
•Always switch off the e-bike system when parking.
2. Selecting an assist level (Figure B)
•Once the assist system is switched on, the system will default to Level 0.
Select the desired assist level using the UP (+) and DOWN (-) buttons.
•Select between four levels: Level 0 (0%, no assist), Level 1 (Max. 140%),
Level 2 (Max. 250%) to Level 3 (Max. 390%, maximum assist).
The number of illuminated red LEDs show the selected assist level: none
(Level 0) to the maximum of three (Level 3).
•When learning to ride an e-bike, start at the lowest assist level and gradually
increase levels.
•The maximum range on one battery charge will decrease with higher assist
levels.
•The e-bike drive output only provides support up to the maximum speed
permitted by local regulation (25 kmh/20 mph). As soon as you have reached
this speed limit, the assist system will suspend the riding support and
automatically reactivates when your speed is below the speed limit.
•The assist modes affect how much support the assist system delivers based
on your pedaling input.
•If your e-bike is equipped with gears, change gears appropriately to get the
most use out of your battery.

3. Activating the Walk assistance (Figure C)
The Walk-assist mode can help you push your e-bike more easily, for example, up a
hill, with a maximum speed of up to 3 km/h (2 mph). You can only enable the Walk-
assist mode when the system is switched on and you are pushing the e-bike.
•Press and hold the DOWN (-) button on the console for two seconds to activate
the Walk-assist mode.
•To propel the e-bike forward at a slow speed, press and hold the UP (+) button.
•Release the UP (+) button to stop the Walk-assist function on your e-bike.
•Short press the DOWN (-) button to turn the Walk-assist mode off.
Note. The Walk-assist mode will automatically turn off if no buttons are pressed
in 5 seconds.
4. Indication of the battery charge level
Battery charge level indicator on the console
100 % charged. Maximum range.
21-40% charged. Charge the battery.
1-20% charged. The battery is near empty. Charge the battery as
soon as possible.
►<9% charged. The LED flashes to warn the rider to charge the
battery immediately.
►At 4% charge, the riding support will stop. The remaining charge
capacity is reserved to power lights for up to two hours.
Each illuminated green LED on the console represents approximately 20% capacity.

5. Charging the battery (Figure D)
Your e-bike is equipped with a charging socket on the bike to charge the integrated
battery. Charge the battery indoors or in a garage at room temperature, to avoid
exposure to rain or wind. Do not use the charger outdoors or in environments with
high humidity.
•To charge the battery, open the cover of the charging socket on the e-bike.
•Connect the charging plug of the supplied charger with the charging socket
on the battery.
•Plug the AC-plug of the charger into an outlet (100V to 240V).
►The LED on the charger will illuminate red while charging.
►While charging, the charge level indicator on the console will show the
charge level of the battery. Each illuminated green LED on the console
represents approximately 20% capacity.
►The battery is fully charged when the indicator on the charger turns green
and all green LEDs on the charge level indicator on the console illuminate.
Note. The e-bike system will power off after reaching full charge (within about six
minutes).
•After charging, disconnect the AC-plug from the outlet and the charging plug
from the battery.
6. Turning on/off the lights (if equipped, Figure E)
•Some e-bikes are equipped with a front and rear light powered by the assist
system.
•With the system turned on, press and hold the UP (+) button for two seconds
to turn the lights on or off.
Notes.
•At 4% charge, the riding support will stop. The remaining charge capacity is
reserved to power the lights for up to two hours.
•If your battery is empty, the lighting on your e-bike may not work until the battery
is recharged.

FUNDAMENTALS FOR CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Handle the battery with care
•Be gentle with your battery. There is a lot of power packed in there.
Damage or punctures to the internal part of the battery could have serious
repercussions. If you suspect damage to your battery, visit your authorized
Electra bike shop immediately for inspection.
•Consult with an authorized Electra bike shop before installing accessories.
Using the wrong bolt in the wrong place could damage your e-bike’s electrical
system.
WARNING: A short circuit in the
electrical system and/or damage to the
battery might lead to over-heating. Do not
pierce the battery pack with any tool or
bolt. A battery pack that has been severely
impacted could catch re.
2. Properly maintain the battery pack
•Only charge the battery with the charger that came with your e-bike. Using the
wrong charger risks the life of the battery and presents a potential re hazard.
•Do not leave a battery unattended while charging. Choose an electric outlet
with grounded, circuit breaker protection, if possible. Disconnect the charger
immediately after charging.
•Store your e-bike in a dry, ventilated location that is away from moisture,
heat sources, and combustible or easily ammable objects.
•When you store the e-bike for a long period of time, charge the battery to
80% prior to storage (four green LEDs illuminated).
Important: Check the battery charge level again after six months.
If the remaining power of the battery is less than 30%, charge it again to 80%
(four green LEDs illuminated).
