ELK-M1EZ8MSI
APPLICATION:
The ELK-M1EZ8MSI Main Serial Port Interface
allows direct RS-232 Serial Communications to
an M1EZ8 Control for Upload/Download pro-
gramming, and for interfacing with other Com-
puter type devices. The speed of this port is
software selectable from 300 to 115,200 baud.

For PSC-05 (or equiv.) Interface
NOTE: The M1EZ8MSI is not required in order to
connect ELK-M1XSP Serial Port Expanders to the
4-wire data bus. The M1XSP Expanders can
provide RS-232 Serial Ports (up to 7) from the
M1EZ8, however only M1EZ8MSI Main Serial Port
Interface is capable of operating at a speed above
38,400 baud which is optimum for fast upload/
download programming and for interfacing with an
M1XEPEthernetInterface.

INSTALLATION
The following equipment is required: ELK-M1EZ8 Control, ELK-M1EZ8MSI Main Serial Port Interface, 8
Conductor J7 Cable (included), 9 Pin to 9 Pin Serial Cable or USB to 9 Pin Serial Cable (not included).
1. Plug one end of the provided 8-wire CAT5 RJ45 cord into connector J1 on the M1EZ8MSI Main Serial Port
Interface. Plug the other end into connector J5 on the M1EZ8 Control. If a 4-wire PSC-05 Lighting Interface is
already plugged into J5, disconnect that cord and plug it into connector J2 on the EZ8MSI Interface. Connector
J2 is passed through EZ8MSI Interface so that you can maintain the Lighting Interface even with an EZ8MSI
attached.
2. Plug one end of a 9 Pin Serial Cable (not provided) into connector J3 on the M1EZ8MSI Interface. Plug the other
end into your computer or desired serial communicating device.
3. The M1EZ8MSI Interface may be permanently mounted inside the Control or it can be simply carried around as
an Installer tool.
