Introduction
The GPS (DCF77) antenna located on the building roof is connected to a GPS/DCF77
module situated nearby. This module is connected to a remote TS (models: TS-3000,
TS-4000, or TS-5000) server via lightning protector system ( TS-protect unit). This
system is a unit of overvoltage and lightning protection preventing the TS server from direct
and indirect effects of atmospheric discharges. The TS-protect system has been designed to
secure against switching overvoltage and lightning surge, and that voltage limiters shall apply
thereto. The construction of the unit is based upon the rule of voltage compensation in
accordance with P – IEC 61024-1 standard. It stipulates upholding safe levels of
overvoltage that will not damage the insulation in all protected electrical circuits of the TS
server.
Overvoltage protection has been applied to the following input and output lines of the TS:
1. Antenna GPS/DCF77 input (8 lines: 6 signal lines 12V DC + 2 power lines 24V DC)
2. LA Ethernet Cat 5 input (2 network lines)
3. 230V AC 50Hz power supply system (2 lines: L, /T -C std.)
in compliance with the scheme below:
