EC4 Dialer Programming Guide
This guide is to help you program
your EC4 product.
(SEE QUICK REFERENCE GUIDE FOR CONDENSED VERSION)
Programming Emergency Numbers
1. Apply power to your EC4. Plug your AC-2P power supply
into wall outlet. Make sure the AC-2P is plugged into the top
of your EC4.

3. Press 1 Again

4. Press “2 for No”. If you are going to send emergency
message to a pager number, press 1 for yes to add pager
number. See Pager number programming below if needed.

If you are entering more than one phone number, you must select
the location for each number Example: Select 1 for your first

Emergency number, Select 2 for your second number, Select 3 for
the third and so on. Dialer will take up to 8 telephone, cellphone
or pager emergency numbers
You now can enter up to 8 phone numbers. Enter each phone
number one by one.
Enter your first desired phone number. If the number is long
distance, enter area code (Number 1 first) then phone number.
If you are entering a cell phone number, please enter two (2) “P”
(Pauses) at the end of the last digit for each phone number. Do this
for every cell phone number. Press the "*" button to save after
entering each number.
Examples of how to enter phone numbers
Example for landline telephone with area code: 18581234567*
Example for cellular phone with area code: 18581234567PP*

If you entered the wrong number, the dialer cannot cycle
backwards, only forward.
If this happens just hit the * button and continue with Step 2 by
entering the location for number to correct (1-8). Wrong
numbers can be over written by going through the same process
again.
Once all of your emergency phone numbers have been entered,
Press 0 (DONE).
5. Once you have pressed 0 to end emergency number entry
display will show
If your telephone line requires dialing a single number or digit to
get an outside line or dial tone to call out, continue with 5a.
If not, Press 2 (NO) and proceed to 6.
5a. Press 1 (YES) to Program T-LINE.

LCD will display:
Press 1 (TONE)if you are using a standard telephone line with a dial
tone. (Dialer is Pre-set to TONE).
Press 2 (PULSE) if you are using a telephone line that uses pulse
relay to dial out. (Typically Not Used)
LCD will display
This step is where you will program the digit to dial out in order to
get an outside line or dial tone. (Dialer is Pre-set to OFF)

If your phone system requires dialing a digit to get an outside line
or dial tone, Press 1 (ON).
If your phone system does not require a digit to get an outside line
or dial tone, Press 2 (OFF).
If you pressed 1 (ON)
LCD will display
Enter the number to dial out (1 digit)

You can control how many times the dialer will call each emergency
numbers that you programmed into your EC4 Emergency Caller.
Enter desired number of attempts. (Dialer is Pre-set to 2 attempts).

You can control the number of Out Going Messages (OGM’s) that
will be delivered to each number. Enter desired number of
Messages repeated.
(Dialer is Pre-set to 2 Messages).

6. Press 1 (YES) to program Emergency Caller Out Going Message
(OGM)

This is where you will record your emergency message that will
notify all phone numbers of your need for help.
Before recording, it is recommended to write down what your
OGM will say.
Hold the Dialer 6 inches away from you. Prepare yourself to speak
directly at the small MIC on the left side of the Dialer.
When you are ready to record, HOLD DOWN the “R” button while
you are recording your message at the same time. Release the "R"
button when you are finished recording.
Your OGM should be at least 10 seconds long and up to 52
seconds for a single channel system (13 seconds for each channel)

Press 1 (YES) to listen to your OGM that you recorded.
After the OGM has been played, the LCD will display:
Press 1 (YES) if you are satisfied with your OGM.
Press 2 (NO) if you wish to re-record your OGM and it will bring you
back to:
Follow the steps above from Step 6 until you are satisfied with
recording your OGM.
Once you are satisfied with your OGM Press 1 (YES) to Accept.

Disabling the MIC will turn off the One-way and two-way
communication.
Press 1 (YES) if you want to disable the One-way and two-way
communication
Press 2 (NO) to turn On the One-way and two-way communication.
For more information regarding the One-way and Two-way
communication feature, please refer to the Additional Features
section on the set up guide.
7. Programming Channels
The LCD will display
Press 1 (YES).

This step is where you must program your input channels for
Normally Open (N.0) or Normally Closed (N.C) contact activation.
If you purchased the EC4 Emergency Caller with a
Transmitter(s), they have been programmed at the factory.
Special Note:
To Add P4S & LRT-4 Transmitters
During Step 7 –Programming Channels, the P4S & LRT-4
transmitter should match each letter corresponding to the
channel and must be set shown below:
Button A for Channel 1
Button B for Channel 2
Button C for Channel 3
Button D for Channel 4
Select 1 to enter Program Channel 1.

Press 1 (YES) to enable Channel 1
Press 2 (NO). LCD will display
Note: Entry –Exit Option
Entry / Exit Delay is an option of the Emergency Caller. We
recommend not activating this feature with our Emergency Caller
product.

For the Exit/Entry Delay option, you can program how many
seconds you want to delay the dialer from calling out phone
numbers.
Your max delay time is 199 seconds.
The Exit/Entry Delay option is typically not used. If you would like a
delay press 1 (YES)
N.O. is Normally Open and N.C. is Normally Closed
EC4 products are set N.C. Normally Closed
If you purchased the EC4, Press 2 (N.C.).
LCD will display
MOM is Momentary and CONT is Continuous.
EC4 products are set to (MOM) Momentary.

Press 1 (MOM).
LCD will display
This setting will dial all the phone numbers that you have
programmed. Make sure you hit "1 (YES)" for all the phone
numbers you want the dialer to call.
LCD will display:
8. This setting will enable the personal Out Going Message
(OGM) that you recorded earlier.
Press 1(YES).

Note (If you purchased more than One Transmitter)
Keep in mind that each channel can only support one transmitter.
(The EC4 dialer has 4 channels)
If you have purchased more than one transmitter, you must
Select: 1 Channel 1 for the first transmitter
Select: 2 Channel 2 for the second transmitter
Select: 3 Channel 3 for the third transmitter
Select: 4 Channel 4 for the fourth transmitter

9. You are now finished programming the EC4 Dialer. In order for
the Dialer to monitor your transmitters, it must be in the
"OPERATE" mode.
To do this, press the "M" button on the keypad until the LCD
will display
The dialer will now monitor any alarm activation.
Testing Phone Numbers RECOMMENDED
If you want to view your saved phone numbers, hit the "M"
button on the dialer until the dialer will display:
*Note: If for any reason the Dialer automatically Dials out
without triggering a transmitter, pay close attention to Step 8:
CH 1: N.O./ N.C. You want to set is as N.C. for all EC4
Transmitters.

The screen will automatically change within 3 seconds and the
LCD will display
Press 2 (NO).

Press: 1 (YES) for channel 1.
Select 1 for channel 1, Select 2 for channel 2, Select 3 for channel
3, Select 4 for channel 4
The LCD will display
If you are using the EC4 transmitter then select 1.
This is where you can select each channel and view step by
step what has been programmed and saved. It will also display
all the phone numbers you have saved and will display them
one phone number at a time.

When you are satisfied and want to go back to the "OPERATE"
mode, simple press 0 (DONE) then press the "M" button until
the LCD will Display "OPERATE"
Your phone numbers have been tested and EC4 is active.
