This heat pump provides heated and chilled soluon as well
as oponal domesc water heang capability. Engineering
and quality control is built into every unit. Good performance
depends on proper applicaon and correct installaon.

The signal words  and
 are used on product labels and throughout this manual to
idenfy levels of hazard seriousness.
 Nocaon of installaon, operaon or maintenance
informaon which is important, but which is NOT hazard related.
 Indicates a potenally hazardous situaon or an
unsafe pracce which, if not avoided, COULD result in minor or
moderate injury, product or property damage.
 Indicates a potenally hazardous situaon which, if
not avoided, COULD result in death or serious injury.
 Indicates an immediate hazardous situaon which, if
not avoided, WILL result in death or serious injury.
 Used to highlight suggesons which will result in
enhanced installaon, reliability, or operaon.

Upon receipt of any equipment, carefully check the shipment
against the packing slip and the freight company bill of lading.
Verify that all units and packages have been received. Inspect
the packaging of each package and each unit for damages.
Ensure that the carrier makes proper notaon of all damages or
shortage on all bill of lading papers. Concealed damage should
be reported to the freight company within 5 days. If not led
within 5 days the freight company can deny all claims.
 Nofy Enertech Global Customer Service Department
of all damages within 5 days. It is the responsibility of the
purchaser to le all necessary claims with the freight company.

Protect units from damage and contaminaon due to plastering
(spraying), painng and all other foreign materials that may be
used at the job site. Keep all units covered on the job site with
either the original packaging or equivalent protecve covering.
Cap or recap unit connecons and all piping unl the unit is
installed. Precauons must be taken to avoid physical damage
and contaminaon which may prevent proper start-up and may
result in costly equipment repair.
Units should be stored in an upright posion at all mes and
should not be stacked unless specially noted on the packaging.

Special care should be taken in locang the unit. Installaon
locaon chosen should include adequate service clearance
around the unit. The Indoor Module should be located in a
condioned space where the ambient temperature remains
between 55oF and 95oF with a maximum RH of 78-80%.
It should be located in a way that piping or other permanently
installed xtures do not have to be removed for servicing.

• Compare the electrical data on the unit nameplate with
packing slip and ordering informaon to verify that the
correct unit has been shipped.
• Inspect all electrical connecons and wires. Connecons
must be clean and ght at the terminals, and wires should
not touch any sharp edges or copper pipe.
• Verify that all refrigerant tubing is free of dents and kinks.
Refrigerant tubing should not be touching other unit
components.
• Before unit start-up, read all manuals and become familiar
with unit components and operaon. Thoroughly check the
unit before operang.
• Fill out the unit installaon form in the back of this IOM.

The dealer should instruct the consumer in the proper
operaon, maintenance, thermostat and indicator lights.
Also provide the consumer with the manufacturer’s Owner’s
Manual for the equipment being installed.

Enertech Global’s heat pumps and system installaons may
include electrical, refrigerant and/or water connecons. Federal,
state and local codes and regulaons apply to various aspects
of the installaon. Improperly installed equipment can lead
to equipment failure and health/safety concerns. For these
reasons, only qualied technicians should install an Enertech
Global built system.
Because of the importance of proper installaon, Enertech
Global does not sell equipment direct to homeowners. Internet
websites and HVAC outlets may allow for purchases directly by
homeowners and do-it-yourselfers, but Enertech Global oers
no warranty on equipment that is purchased via the internet or
installed by persons without proper training.
Enertech Global has set forth this policy to ensure installaons
of Enertech Global systems are done safely and properly. The
use of well-trained, qualied technicians helps ensure that your
system provides many years of comfort and savings.

When installing a heang and cooling unit, there are several
items the installer should consider before placing the
equipment.

See illustraons in this manual for recommended unit
clearances.
The installer must verify that all applicable wiring, piping,
and accessories are correct and on the job site. All wiring,
line and low voltage, should comply with the manufacturer’s
recommendaons, the Naonal Electrical Code, and all local
codes and ordinances.
All Indoor EME/EMD Modules should be located in an indoor
area were the ambient temperature will remain between 55oF
and 95oF.
Unit should be located in a way that piping or other
permanently installed xtures do not have to be removed for
servicing.

This manual describes installaon and service procedures for
implementaon by Enertech trained specialists.
This is an original manual. It may not be translated without
the approval of Enertech. We reserve the right to make design
modicaons without prior noce.

The balance temperature is the outdoor temperature when
the heat pump’s stated output is equal to the building’s input
requirement. This means that the heat pump covers the whole
building’s output requirement down to this temperature.

EAV is equipped with two compressor heaters that heat the
compressor before start-up and when the compressor is cold.

In heang, the minimum outdoor air temperature at which
the unit will operate is -13 deg. F. In cooling, the minimum
temperature is 32 deg. F.

Disposal of the packaging should be completed by the installer.
Removal of all packaging and waste should be done in an
environmentally friendly way. Please recycle responsibly.
Do not dispose of used products with normal household waste.
It must be disposed of at a special waste staon or dealer who
provides this type of service. Please recycle responsibly.

The equipment contains R410A, a uorinated greenhouse gas
with a GWP value (Global Warming Potenal) of 2088. Do not
release R410A into the atmosphere.

The serial number can be found at the boom le on the rear
cover (see page 6).

Use original accessories and the stated components for the
installaon. Install the unit in a locaon with good support.
Unsuitable installaon locaons can cause the unit to fall and
cause material damage and personal injury. Installaon without

that the unit is stable when installed, so that it can withstand
earthquakes or strong winds.
The electrical installaon must be carried out by a qualied
electrician and the system must be connected as a separate
circuit.
Power supply with insucient capacity and incorrect funcon
can cause electrical shocks and re. Use the wire size sucient
for the MCA (Minimum Circuit Ampacity) per the electrical data
tables for the electrical connecon, ghten the cables securely
in the terminal blocks and support the wiring correctly to
prevent overloading the terminal blocks. Loose connecons or
cable mounngs can cause abnormal heat producon or re.

Carry out the electrical installaon with care. Do not connect
the ground lead to gas lines, water lines, lightning conductors,
or telephone line ground leads. Incorrect grounding can cause
unit faults such as electrical shock due to short-circuing. Use
disconnect switches with sucient breaker capacity. Wiring
must be routed to prevent damage by metal edges or trapped by
panels.
Do not install the indoor or outdoor unit near locaons where
leakage of combusble gases can occur. Do not install the
unit where corrosive gas or combusble gas or liquids can
accumulate or be handled. The Indoor Module is not waterproof
and must be installed indoors.
Do not install and use the system close to equipment that
generates electromagnec elds or high frequency harmonics.
Equipment such as inverters, standby generators, medical high
frequency equipment and telecommunicaons equipment can
aect the unit and cause malfuncons and breakdowns. The
unit can also aect medical equipment and telecommunicaons
equipment, so that it funcons incorrectly or not at all.
Insulate the unit’s connecon pipes so that the ambient air
moisture does not condense on them. Insucient insulaon can
cause condensaon, which can lead to moisture damage on the
roof, oor, furniture, and valuable personal property.


• Properly dispose of all packaging materials.
• Touching any control buons with wet hands can cause
electric shocks.
• Do not shut down the power supply unl at least 5 minutes
of operaon to prevent water leakage or breakdowns.
• Only R-410A refrigerants can be used and charging must be
done in a liquid form.
• Do not touch any buons with wet hands. This can cause
electric shocks.
• Do not touch any refrigerant pipes with your hands when
the system is in operaon.
• During operaon, the pipes become extremely hot or
extremely cold, depending on the method of operaon. This
can cause burn injuries or frost injuries.
• Do not shut o the power supply immediately aer
operaon has started.
• Do not use other refrigerants than R-410A.
• When lling refrigerant, the refrigerant must always leave
the container in liquid form.


powder like substances could enter the air.
• Locaons where chemical substances could aect the
unit (for example, sulde gas, chlorine, acid, or alkaline
substances can occur).
• Locaons near vented appliances including, driers, HRV’s,
ERV’s, furnaces, boilers, replaces, any fossil fuel appliances
or moisture producing equipment.
• Locaons with direct exposure to oil mist or steam.
• Locaons near vehicle exhaust.
• Locaons where machines that generate high frequency
harmonics are used.
• Locaons where cosmec or special sprays are oen used
• Locaons that can be subjected to direct salty atmospheres.
• Locaons where large amounts of snow may accumulate.
A snow stand should be used to elevate the unit above the
typical snow line. A snow hood may be required to protect
the top of the unit.
• Locaons where the system is exposed to chimney smoke.
• Locaons where animals or pets may be fenced in.

Unit must be transported and stored vercally.

• Ensure that the heat pump cannot fall over during transport.
• Ensure that the heat pump cannot be damaged during
transportaon.

The distance between the unit and the house wall must be at
least 14 inches. Clearance above the unit should be at least
40 inches. However, free space in front must be 40 inches
for future servicing. Noce the locaon of the controls and
the compressor towards the right side of the unit. See the
illustraon below for further details.

