About This Manual
This manual describes basic functions, theory of electrical and mechanical operations, maintenance and repair procedures of the printer. The instructions and procedures included
herein are intended for the experienced repair technicians, and attention should be given to the precautions on the preceding page.

1.1 Overview
This chapter explains the troubleshooting of this product.
1.2 Self-diagnostic Function
With the self-diagnostic function, the scanner self-checks the operating status of each
component, and if any error is detected, displays its definition, as indicated in Table
1-1, with the LED of the Start button.

Red LED ON Fatal error
Cause: The Lamp is dead.
The Carriage does not return to the home position.
The Main Unit is faulty.
Action: Switch power OFF to stop operation.
Recover: After eliminating the error cause:
Switch power ON again.
Send the initialization command (ESC @).
Disconnect and connect the USB connector.
Receivable command: [ESC F, ESC f, ESC @]

1.3 Troubleshooting
This section explains troubleshooting from the viewpoint of superficial phenomena.
Here, problems are classified on a unit level according to the superficial phenomena at
their occurrence. Referring to Table 1-2, find out the corresponding phenomenon and
check according to the corresponding reference table.

2.1 Overview
This chapter explains the procedures for disassembling the major units and parts of the
product. Unless otherwise explained, reassembly should be carried out in the reverse
order of the disassembly procedure. When you have to remove any units or
components that are not described in this chapter, refer the exploded diagram in the
Appendix.
Before starting disassembly, always read the precautions described in the next section.
2.1.1 Precautions
Before starting the disassembly or reassembly of the product, always read the
following precautions given under the headings "WARNING" and "CAUTION".
The following figure shows the definition of the scanner orientations explained in the
disassembly procedure.

2.1.2 Used Tools
To protect this product from damage, use the specified tools indicated in the following
table.
W ARNING
Before disassembling or reassembling this product, always
disconnect the Power Cable and Interface Cable. However,
when you have to work with power ON for voltage
measurement, etc., use extreme care not to get an electric shock
and do the work in accordance with the procedure given in this
manual.
To prevent your hands from being cut by sharp edges, always
wear gloves before starting disassembly/reassembly.
When touching any internal components, use a static electricity
discharger such as anti-static wrist straps, and handle them
carefully to protect the microprocessors and circuits.
C A U T I O N
When transporting this product, always make sure that the
Carriage has returned to the home position (front), and lock
the Carriage Unit.
Provide sufficient work space for disassembling and
reassembling.
Always use only the recommended tools for disassembly,
reassembly and adjustment.
Be sure to tighten the screws to the specified torque.
Use the specified grease for lubrication. (Refer to Chapter 4 for
details.)

2.2 Disassembly Procedure
This section illustrates how to remove the main components of this product. Unless otherwise specified, the reassembly procedure is omitted here since the product can be reassembled
in the reverse order of the disassembly procedure. For the engagement of the main components, refer to the general exploded views in the Appendix.
The following flowchart shows the disassembling procedure step-by-step. When disassembling any unit, refer to the corresponding page number shown in the following figure.

2.2.1 Removal of TPU Unit
1. Disconnect the Inverter Cable from the Main Unit.
2. Open the TPU Unit.
3. Hold and lift both the left and right ends of the TPU Unit, and remove the TPU Unit.

2.2.2 Removal of Upper Housing
1. Open the TPU Unit. (Refer to 2.2.1)
2. Remove the two screws (CBB M3x6) that are securing the Upper Housing.
3. Using the flat-blade screwdriver, disengage the four hooks that are securing the Upper
Housing.

4. Lift the rear side of the Upper Housing. In this state, slide it to the front to disengage
the two hooks and remove the Upper Housing.

2.2.3 Removal of I/F Board
1. Remove the Upper Housing. (Refer to 2.2.2)
2. Disconnect the CR Motor Connector Cable and Panel FFC from the I/F Board.
3. In the order shown in Figure 2-10, unlock the Harness Locking Mechanism and
disconnect the Carriage FFC from the I/F Board.
4. Remove the three screws (CBP M3x8) shown in Figure 2-11, and remove the
following parts.
1. Shield Plate for I/F Board (Upper side)

3. Shield Plate for I/F Board (Lower side)

2.2.4 Removal of Carriage Unit
1. Unlock the Carriage Lock at the bottom of the Main Unit.
2. Remove the Upper Housing. (Refer to 2.2.2)
3. Remove the I/F Board. (Refer to 2.2.3)
4. Move the Carriage Unit to the center.
5. Remove the two screws (CBP M3x8) that are securing the FFC Stop Plate.

6. Remove the Ferrite Core from the Lower Housing (note that the Ferrite Core is secured
by a double-faced tape).
7. Twist and lift the FFC Stop Plate to the outside. Slide it to the rear as-is, and remove it
diagonally upward.

Reinstall so that the Boss of the Lower Housing matches the notch of
the FFC Stop Plate. (Refer to Figure 2-13.)
