General safety information
Warning!
Danger of electric shock!
The DALI signal is not transmitted with
safety extra-low voltage (SELV)! Before
establishing the electrical connection,
ensure that the DALI lines are discon-
nected and secured against being
switched on again. All cables, materials
and devices used must be suitable for
mains voltage.
Warning!
Fire hazard!
The gateway must not be connected
directly to the mains voltage. This could
start a fire. It would definitely damage
the gateway and possibly other DALI
devices.
Attention!
When installing, always observe the
national installation and accident pre-
vention regulations.
Preconditions
- The DALI Casambi Gateway functions
only in Casambi Evolution networks.
You can update Classic networks in the
Casambi app to an Evolution network.
- To set up and operate the gateway you
need the app provided by Casambi as
well as a DALI control with integrated
power supply for the DALI bus. According
to the installation location, you need
a suitable mounting enclosure and, if
necessary, a strain relief.
Function
- The DALI Casambi Gateway converts
wired DALI signals into Casambi Blue-
tooth wireless signals. Luminaires or
sensors/switches with Casambi can thus
be integrated into DALI networks. They
are shown in the DALI control as DALI
devices with an address. The gateway
does not need a DALI address for itself.
- A broadcast command to all luminaires
is possible. In this case the gateway
requires an address and up to 249 lumi-
naires can be reached.
- With Casambi Bluetooth you can use
all luminaires and devices, they do not
have to be DALI devices or luminaires.
You can set the addressability of a lumi-
naire for DALI commands and the com-
mand hierarchy in the Casambi app.
- The gateway supports Device Type 6
(dimming) and 8 (colour control) as
well as Casambi sensors and switches/
push-buttons.
- The maximum number of individu-
ally controllable luminaires / devices
depends on the DALI system, i.e. 64
luminaires / devices; with DALI Broad-
cast you can address up to 249 lumi-
naires simultaneously.
- General information on DALI is available
at www.digitalilluminationinterface.org.
- The DALI Casambi Gateway complies
with Directive 2014/53/EU.
Radio operation is implemented on
frequency bands 2402 – 2480 MHz with
maximum transmission power of 4 dBm.
See the Casambi website
(www.casambi.com) for the complete
EU declaration of conformity text
Intended use
- The gateway is only suitable for dry
indoor areas.
- In outdoor areas, install the gateway
in a housing with the required protec-
tion rating.
Restrictions
For installation within arm's reach, the
gateway must be installed in a suitable
housing.
Mounting location
- The gateway must not be completely
covered with metal. Metallic environ-
ments weaken the Bluetooth wireless
signal or suppress it completely. Installa-
tion in sub-distribution units or similar
is therefore not recommended.
- The distance between the gateway
and luminaire should not exceed the
distance specified in the drawing. Spa-
tial conditions influence the range; it
is advisable to test connectivity of the
network on location.
- You can install the gateway in a suit-
able surface-mounted or recessed hous-
ing, for example a switch box. Outside
of arm's reach, installation without a
housing is also possible.
Commissioning/configuration
Warning!
Fire hazard!
The gateway must not be connected
directly to the mains voltage. This could
start a fire. It would definitely damage
the gateway and possibly also other
DALI devices.
- The two connection pairs DA1 and
DA2 are connected in parallel and can
be used for through-wiring.
1. Connect the gateway to the DALI bus.
2. Set up the Casambi network with
the gateway and the desired Casambi
devices/luminaires.
3. Settings:
- Scope: Define luminaires/devices that
are addressed via DALI.
- Define the prioritisation (DALI - Casambi
command hierarchy DALI - Casambi)
4. Set up the devices/luminaires in the
DALI system.
Cleaning
Always clean carefully using a soft
cloth and a commercially available,
ph-neutral, alcohol-free, non-abrasive
cleaning agent.
Disposal
According to the EU directive
WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electro-
nic Equipment) the device must not be
disposed of via unsorted waste. It must
be conveyed to the local facility for the
disposal or recycling of electronic
products.
