ThankyouforchoosingNeON.ItcombinesanUSBaudiointerfacewithfullyfunctionalMIDIcontrol
features–allinaportablekeyboard.NeONhas25velocitysensitivekeys,4controlbuttonsthatallow
youtocontroltheoctaverange,selecttheMIDIchannelandassigncontrollernumberstothewheels.It
alsofeaturesUSBconnection,oneMIDIoutput,oneSustainPedalinput,oneExpressionPedalinput,a
smallcasethatisnotwiderthan19ʺandmuchmore.

1) Unpacking your NeON
YourNeONcartonshouldcontainthefollowing;

Ifanyoftheabovelisteditemsaremissing,pleasecontacttheretaileryoupurchasedtheproductfrom.
YoumightwanttokeeptheNeONcartonandpackingmaterialsforeasyshippingortransport.
2) Before you connect your NeON Keyboard
Youareprobablyeagertopluginyourkeyboardandgetstarted,butbeforeyoubegin,pleasereadyour
computer’smanualoninstallingUSBdevices.
ThereisnoneedtoshutdownthecomputertoinstallUSBdevices.
1.FindtheUSBportonyourcomputer.USBportsareusuallylocatedbythePS/2orserialportsintheback.
USBportoncomputer
2.PlugintheappropriateendofaUSBcable(calledSeriesAplug)totheUSBportofyourcomputer.
NoticethatUSBportsofyourcomputerandNeON’sUSBportaredifferent.

3) Using External Power Supply
Werecommenda9V500mADCoutadaptor.JustpluginthepowersupplytothesocketlabeledDC9V
500mAandswitchthepoweron.Otheradaptorswith9VDCoutspecificationcanbeusediftheyare
ratedatgreaterthan500mAoutput.
NOTE:Donotleavetheadapterpluggedinforextendedperiodsiftheunitisnotinuse.
4) System Requirements
NeONdoesnotdependonCPUresourcesbutyourcomputerspecificationsareimportanttomakefull
useofNeON’sprofessionaldigitalaudio/MIDIfeatures.
IMPORTANT:IfpowerisonlysuppliedthroughtheUSBcable,itishighlyrecommendedthatyouuseatleasta
300Wpowersupply.IfyouusetheNeONwithalaptop,werecommendthatyouusetheincludedexternalpower
supply.

5. PC Installation
1.InserttheNeONdriverCDintheCD‐ROMdrive.WerecommendyoutocopytheNeONdriver
foldertoyourharddrive.Donotmoveordeleteanyofthesefiles,notevenaftertheinstallation.
Run“setup.exe”fromthisfolder.
2.Click“Next”andfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.

5.Checkingyoursystem.Goto:ControlPanel>SoundsandAudioDevices>Audio.Pleasecheckif
youraudiodevicesareinstalledproperly.

6. NeON Panel for PC
ThepanelallowsyoutoeasilyconfigurethesettingsofNeONtoyourneeds.Aftersuccessfully
installingtheNeONdriversyouwillseetheESIpaneliconinthesystemtrayofthetaskbar.

Thedefaultsettingforinputis“LINEIN”.Youneedtoclickanother buttontoselect
MIC/Hi‐Zinput.ThiswillclosetheNeONpanelwindowbutitwillnotshutdownthepanel.You
canalwaysrelaunchthepanelbyclickingontheicon.

ReturnallNeONconfigurationsettingstofactorydefault.
2.File‐AlwaysOnTop
SettheNeONpaneltoappearalwaysoverotherwindows.Ifthisisnotselected,theactivewindowsof

ShutdowntheNeONpanel.

Youcanmovebothfadersatthesametime,clickthespacebetweenfadersandmove.

AdjustinputmonitoringlevelofNeON.YoucanselectinputtypebetweenMIC/HI‐ZandLINEINwith
button.ActiveInputshowslikethis. Setthelevelusingthemouse,mousewheel,or
cursorkeys.ThenumberonthebottomindicatestherelativelevelindB.
2.Output
AdjustoutputlevelofNeON.Therearetwokindsofoutputs–WDMOUTandH.POUT(Headphone
Out).WDMOUTisthesamethatWindowswaveout.IncaseofH.POUT,thenumberonthebottom
indicatestherelativelevelindB.That’swhyitindicatesthelevelin%.Setthelevelusingthemouse,
mousewheel,orcursorkeys.
3.(Monitor)Button
Ifthisbuttonison,youcanhearthesoundsourcethrough“linein”jackinrealtime.
4.(Mute)Button
Selectmutebuttontomuteeachsource.
5.Button
Ifthisbuttonisturnedon,youcanget+20dBgainforMIC/Hi‐Zinput.

NeONcomesbundledwiththefullversionofTracktion‐professionalrecordingandMIDI
productionsoftwarebyMackie.AfterlaunchingTracktion,select‘Settings’then‘audiodevices’tab.
ChooseNeONasplaybackandrecorddeviceasshownbelow.
Note: NeON driver CD includes Ultimate Audio Tools (UAT) bundle software. They are located in ‘ESI’ folder of
the driver CD. Only applications listed in the NeON box work with NeON. Other applications are for other ESI
products sharing the same universal ESI driver CD.
6) ASIO Control Panel
Ifyoucanclick“controlpanel”buttoninyourASIOapplication,youcanseethepanelabovethat
allowsyoutoselectthebuffersize/latency.Youalsodeterminetousetheinputornot.Onsome
systems,notusingtheinputcanreducetheoutputlatency.Asmallerbuffersizegivesyoushorter
latency,butthatgeneratesmoresystemloadonyourcomputer.Youmustconfigurethelatencyto
yourneedsandyoursystemperformance.

1) Compatibility
NeONonlyworkswithOS10.2orlaterversionsofMacOSX.IfyouhaveearlierversionsofMacOS,
pleaseupgradebeforeusingtheNeON.
