Overview
The Aero SmartClick Switch Station provides battery-free, wireless control of
lighting, combined with simple installation and long-term maintenance-free
reliability.
Unison Aero SmartClick stations require no wiring connections and use no
batteries. The kinetic energy of depressing either the ON or OFF side of the
switch generates enough power to transmit the switch event. The UA1001
offers a single rocker switch and the UA1002 offers a dual rocker switch. Either
station can be assigned to a controller exactly the same way. For the dual
switch models, each switch is separate from the other and can be assigned to
the same controller or independent controllers.

Preparation
The SmartClick Switch Station can be mounted in a standard electrical switch-
box or on any surface such as a wall, cubicle, or desk using the optional wall
mount plate. The station should be installed in the room where the Aero
controllers are controlling the light fixtures or circuits. Consideration should be
made for locating the controllers, switches, and sensors based on the
construction materials in the space and furniture that may disrupt the
transmissions. Installation should follow local codes and standard practices.
It is recommended that stations and sensors be placed with in 50 feet (15m) of
the controller for optimal performance.
Installing the Station
The SmartClick Switch Station can be surface mounted using screws,
double-sided tape, or Velcro®, or it can be flush mounted in a standard back
box. Mounting hardware or tape is not supplied. The ON side of the station
should be mounted at the top. The arrow on the station must be installed
directed up.

Surface Mount Using Screws
Use the appropriate screws and anchors for surface or back box mounting.
Screws and anchors are not included.
Step 1: Attach the station to the mounting plate.
Step 2: Align the mounting plate in position and mark the four mounting holes.
Step 3: Drill the required mounting holes.
Step 4: Install anchors (if required).
Step 5: Attach the mounting plate to the wall (hardware provided by others).
Step 6: Attach the faceplate (not included).
Surface Mount Using Tape or Velcro
You can use double-sided tape or Velcro to attach the station. Attaching
material is not included.
Step 1: Attach the station to the mounting plate.
Step 2: Attach two 1.5 inch (4cm) strips of tape or Velcro to the back of the
mounting plate, ensuring they do not extend beyond the edge.
Note:
The single gang mounting plate is provided with the station.
A two gang (UA2MP) or three gang (UA3MP) mounting
plate is available separately.

Step 3: Do one of the following:
• If using double-sided tape, remove the protective film to reveal the
sticky surface.
• If using Velcro, attach the opposite Velcro material to its mating
strips and then remove the protective film to reveal the adhesive.
Step 4: Press the station into place.
Step 5: Attach the faceplate (not included).
Flush Mount in a Back Box
Step 1: Insert the station into the back box.
Step 2: Secure with two screws (hardware provided by others).
Step 3: Attach the faceplate (not included).
Linking to a Controller
After the SmartClick Switch Station has been installed, it must be linked to the
Aero controller. Refer to the Unison Aero 902 MHz User Programming Guide
for linking and programming instructions. ETC documentation is available for
free download at www.etcconnect.com.
Note:
If line voltage wiring is installed in the back box, proper
voltage barrier is required between the wiring and the back
box.
