1 PREFACE
Using this manual
This manual is intended to be used as a work of reference for professional,
well trained and authorised users to be able to safely install, use, maintain
and repair the product mentioned on the cover of this document. The
gures referred to in the text, can be found in the back of this manual.
Pictograms and symbols
The following pictograms and symbols are used on the product and in this
manual.
Suggestions and recommendations to simplify carrying out
tasks and actions.
WARNING
Procedures, if not carried out with the necessary caution may
damage the product or cause personal injury.
Service and technical support
For information about specic adjustments, maintenance or repair jobs
which are not dealt with in this manual, please contact the supplier of the
product. He will always be willing to help you. Make sure you have the
following specications of the system at hand:
- product name
- serial number
These data can be found on the identication plate of the
connected equipment.
2 SAFETY
General
The manufacturer does not accept any liability for damage to the product or
personal injury caused by non-observance of the safety instructions in this
manual, or by negligence during installation, use, maintenance and repair of
the product mentioned on the cover of this document and any
corresponding accessories. Specic working conditions or used accessories
may require additional safety instructions. Immediately contact your supplier
if you detect a potential danger when using the product.
The user of the product is always fully responsible for observing the local
safety instructions and regulations. Observe all applicable safety instructions
and regulations.
User manual
• Everyone working on or with the product, must be familiar with the
contents of this manual and must strictly observe the instructions
therein. The management should instruct the personnel in accordance
with the manual and observe all instructions and directions given.
• Never change the order of the steps to perform.
• Always keep the manual with the product.
Pictograms and instructions on the product
• The pictograms, warnings and instructions attached to the product are
part of the safety features. They must not be covered or removed and
must be present and legible during the entire life of the product.
• Immediately replace or repair damaged or illegible pictograms,
warnings and instructions.
Users
• The use of this product is exclusively reserved to authorised, trained
and qualied users. Temporary personnel and trainees can only use the
product under supervision and responsibility of skilled engineers.
• The device is not intended to be used by persons (including children)
with physical, sensory or mental disability or without the necessary
experience and knowledge unless they are supervised or have been
given instructions on how the device can be used by a person who is
responsible for their safety.
• Always supervise children to prevent them playing with the appliance.
Intended use1
The product has been designed as optional remote control for the HF-series
air cleaners.Using the product for other purposes is considered contrary to
its intended use. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage or
injury resulting from such use. The product has been built in accordance
with state-of-the-art standards and recognised safety regulations. Only use
the product in technically perfect condition with its intended use and the
instructions laid down in the user manual.
Safety features
• All safety features must be correctly mounted and can only be removed
for maintenance and repair jobs by skilled and authorised service
engineers.
• The product must not be used if the safety features are not or only
partly present, or defective.
• The safety features should be regularly checked for their proper
functioning, and if required, be immediately repaired.
Modicaties
• Modication of (parts of ) the product is not allowed.
3 INTRODUCTION
The functionality of this remote is very simple. For optimal use do read and
follow these instructions very carefully.
Characteristics
• Manual ON/OFF switching of the connected DFI lters.
• Controls maximum 16 lters.
• LED lter indication.
• Push out openings for cable glands.
ATTENTION
The DFI settings need to be changed to use the RC-MSA.
4 GENERAL RC-MSA
The RC-MSA can switch up to a maximum of 16 DFI lters simultaneously.
The RC-MSA must here fore be connected to the DFI lter by using a 4-core
cable. This DFI need to be set as MASTER (see installation manual DFI) The
possible other connected DFI lters need to be set as SLAVE with their own
address (see installation manual DFI).
In order to switch ON the DFI lters the green button has to be pressed. All
correct connected DFI lters with the right settings (see installation manual
DFI) will start to operate. The green LED indicator will light up continuous.
De green LED indicator will start ashing if there is a problem with (one of)
the connected DFI lters and the lters will not start up (see trouble
shooting paragraph)
In order to switch OFF the DFI lters the red button has to be pressed.
5 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Remove the lid with the user interface. Take good care of this and
temporarily place it at a safe location. Use the bottom part of the enclose as
a template to draw the mounting holes at the wall and drill the holes.
Make sure there are no build in cables and/or tubes at this location that may
be damaged.
Choose the most convenient position for the cable gland. This gland can
be positioned along 3 sides of the enclosure. Carefully open the selected
position by pushing out the pre shaped circle and assembly a PG13,5
cable gland.
1. “Intended use”as laid down in EN-292-1 is the use for which the technical product is suited as
specied by the manufacturer, inclusive of his directions in the sales brochure. In case of doubt it is
the use which can be deducted from the construction, the model and the function of the technical
product which is considered normal use. Operating the machine within the limits of its intended
use also involves observing the instructions in the user manual.

Use screws with a size of 4 x 40 and matching wall plugs for mounting the
bottom part of the enclosure to the wall. Some walls do not need the use of
wall plugs and in that case the enclosure can be screwed to the wall without
the need for drilling.
Guide the cable from the DFI lter to the RC-MSA and install it in accordance
with national regulations.
6 CONNECTIONS
The electrical connections have to be made with a 4 core cable. There is no
need for an electrical screened cable.
For cable lengths till 50 meters the diameter of the cores should be 4 x
0,5sqmm. and for larger distances bigger cores need to be used like 4 x
1,0sqmm.
ATTENTION
Remove the CEE power plug before connecting the
RC-MSA cable.
Internal connections
Make the connections according to the drawing below
External connections
Remove the lid at the top from the DFI lter using a Torx tool T15. Enter the
cable through one of the pre-assembled cable glands. Connect the cable to
the terminal strip according to the diagram.
REMARK
See Installation manual DFI if more lters need to be connected
via the RS485 bus.
7 MAINTENANCE
The RC-MSA does not require special maintenance. The enclosure can be
cleaned with a mild detergent.
8 PROBLEM SOLVING
When the system is not working properly consult the following checklist to
see if you can solve the problem yourself. If this is not the case you need to
call help from educated, skilled and authorized technicians.
WARNING
Always check if the malfunction is from electrical or
mechanical origin. Activities or repairs to the electrical
system may only be performed by educated, skilled and
authorized service technicians.
Always switch OFF the DFI and remove power supply before starting the
repair. Read the repair regulations at the start of this manual.
REMARK
A nummer of problems listed in the table may also be caused
by connected devices in the system. In this manual the focus is
on the problems and solutions caused by Remote RC-MSA itself.
