SECTION 1 - INSTALLATION
1.2 SITING
The griddles can be installed n a table, c unter t p
r alternatively up n a purp se-made stand.
The unit can be p siti ned t within 75mm f a
c mbustible wall at the back and sides. There sh uld
be a minimum vertical clearance f 900mm ab ve t p
edge f appliance flue t any verhanging
c mbustible surface.
Important
If unit is t be installed with ther matching appliances
f the Falc n 350 series, the instructi ns f r all units
must be c nsulted t determine the necessary
clearance t any c mbustible rear wall r verlying
surface. S me appliances require greater clearances
than thers, and the largest figure qu ted in the
individual Instructi ns will theref re determine
clearance f r c mplete suite f adj ining appliances.
1.3 VENTILATION
Adequate ventilati n, whether natural r mechanical,
must be pr vided t ensure sufficient fresh air f r
c mbusti n and f r rem val f c mbusti n pr ducts,
which may be harmful t health. Rec mmendati ns
f r ventilati n f r Catering Appliances are given in
BS.5440:2. Further, t ensure sufficient r m venti-
lati n, guidance n the v lume f ventilati n air
required f r different kinds f catering equipment is
given in the table. F r multiple installati ns the
requirements sh uld be added. Installati n sh uld
be made in acc rdance with l cal and/ r nati nal
regulati ns applying at the time, and a c mpetent
installer must be empl yed.
The appliance flue discharges vertically thr ugh grille
at rear f h b. There must be n direct c nnecti n f
the flue t any mechanical extracti n system r
utside air. Siting appliance under a ventilated
can py is the ideal arrangement.
1.4 GAS SUPPLY
The inc ming service must be f sufficient size t
supply full rate with ut excessive pressure dr p.
A gas meter is c nnected t service pipe by Gas
Supplier. Any existing meter sh uld be checked,
preferably by Gas Supplier, t ensure that the meter
is f adequate capacity t supply the unit, and ther
ass ciated equipment. This is particularly imp rtant
when a number f units are being installed.

with IGE/UP/2. The size f the pipes fr m the meter

1.10 BURNER ADJUSTMENTS
1.10.1 Aeration Adjustment - Natural Gas
Burners are fitted with fixed inject rs. Aerati n
adjustment is set by manufacturer by means f a
screw in burner thr at. After setting pressure, flame
c ne height sh uld be appr ximately 12mm.
1.10.2 Low Flame Setting
The gas c ntr l is pr vided with a l w flame setting.
L w flame adjustment has been set and sealed by
manufacturer by means f a bypass screw in gas tap
t appr ximately ne third full rate.
SECTION 2 - ASSEMBLY and
COMMISSIONING
2.1 ASSEMBLY
Place unit in p siti n, and level using feet adjusters.
If unit requires t be m unted up n a stand, refer t
details supplied with stand.
Rem ve any packing material and ensure that
burners are c rrectly l cated ver inject rs.
2.2 CONNECTION TO GAS SUPPLY
The unit is furnished with a c mpressi n elb w fitting,
terminating in an R

thread f r c nnecting t mains.
The gas supply piping and c nnecti n t unit must be
installed in acc rdance with the regulati ns listed n
the c ver f this manual.
On Natural Gas appliances, the adjustable g vern r
must be fitted in supply, being securely fixed in a
p siti n enabling adjustment t be made during
c mmissi ning. DO NOT fit a g vern r t Pr pane
m dels.
A gas is lating c ck must be fitted in supply, in a
p siti n readily accessible t perat r.
2.3 CONNECTION TO AN ELECTRICITY SUPPLY

2.4 CONNECTION TO A WATER SUPPLY

2.5 PRE-COMMISSIONING CHECK
2.5.1 Setting Gas Pressure (Natural Gas Only)
C nnect a suitable pressure gauge t test p int
l cated behind facia panel. Light burners in
acc rdance with pr cedure detailed in User
Instructi ns and set gas pressure as specified in
Secti n 1.9.
2.5.2 Aeration Adjustment
Check by bserving thr ugh inspecti n aperture and
wind w, that burner c ne lengths are in acc rdance
with Secti n 1.10.1.
2.5.3 Low Flame Check
Check by bserving thr ugh inspecti n aperture and
wind w, that flame reduces when c ntr l is turned t
l w flame setting in acc rdance with Secti n 1.10.2.
Further bserve that flame is stable.
2.5.4 Gas Tightness
After installati n, the engineer resp nsible sh uld
check gas tightness and ensure unit perates
satisfact rily bef re hading ver t user.
2.6 INSTRUCTION TO USER
After installing and c mmissi ning the appliance,
hand the User's Instructi ns t the user r purchaser
and ensure that the pers n(s) resp nsible
understands the instructi ns f r lighting, cleaning
and c rrect use f the appliance. It is imp rtant t
ensure that l cati n f gas is lating c ck is made
kn wn t user, and the pr cedure f r its perati n in
an emergency be dem nstrated.

SECTION 3 - SERVICING
and CONVERSION
Important
BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SERVICING, TURN
OFF ISOLATING COCK AND TAKE STEPS TO
ENSURE THAT IT CANNOT BE INADVERTANTLY
TURNED ON.
AFTER ANY MAINTENANCE TASK, CHECK THE
APPLIANCE TO ENSURE THAT IT PERFORMS
CORRECTLY AND CARRY OUT ANY NECESSARY
ADJUSTMENTS AS DETAILED IN SECTION 1.

3.1 CONVERSION PROCEDURE CHECK LIST

3.2 REMOVAL OF CONTROL PANEL

Rem ve spillage tray.
Pull ff gas c ntr l kn b.
Und fixings in upper flange f facia panel and all w
panel t dr p d wn. Withdraw panel sufficiently t
enable spark igniter leads t be disc nnected at rear
bef re rem val.
Note
When re-fitting spark electr de terminal, ensure it is
turned away fr m manual igniti n h le in bulkhead.
3.3 BURNERS
Burners sh uld be cleaned peri dically t maintain
maximum perf rmance.
3.3.1 Main Burner
T gain access t burner, rem ve griddle plate.
Rem ve burner by lifting it slightly at rear.
Carefully m ve it back t clear inject r. Inject rs
may als be rem ved at this stage if required.
Refer t Secti n 3.4.
Clean burner with a wire brush. P rts may be cleared
with a suitable metal br ach, shaking debris clear,
r if p ssible bl wing it away with c mpressed air.
When replacing burner, ensure that rear l cating pins
are pr perly l cated.
Check flame c ne lengths in acc rdance with
Secti n 1.10.1.
Replace all parts in reverse rder and check f r gas
tightness.
3.3.2 Pilot Assembly
T rem ve, pr ceed as f ll ws:
a) Rem ve griddle plate, burner and facia panel as
previ usly described.
b) Release therm c uple fixing nut and rem ve
therm c uple fr m assembly.
c) Release pil t pipe fixing nut fr m pil t assembly.
Take care n t t l se inject r rem ved with nut.
d) Und fixings which secure pil t assembly and
rem ve with electr de and igniti n lead.
Replace spark electr de if required and re-assemble
in reverse rder.
3.4 INJECTORS
3.4.1 Main Injector
Lift ff griddle plate and rem ve burner as detailed
ab ve. Inject rs may n w be unscrewed.
S ak it in a suitable s lvent t rem ve any debris and
wipe with a s ft cl th. D n t use metal bjects t
clear inject r h le.
Check face-t -face seals are clean bef re re-fitting.
3.5 THERMOCOUPLE
T rem ve, pr ceed as f ll ws:
a) Rem ve griddle plate, burners and c ntr l panel as
detailed in the relevant secti ns f this d cument.
b) Und tubing nuts at b th pil t end and gas c ntr l.
c) Man euvre therm c uple clear.
When fitting a new therm c uple, c il excess in a
similar manner t riginal. Take care n t t bed tubing
t less than a 12mm radius.
3.6 PIEZO IGNITER/SPARK ELECTRODE
3.6.1 Piezo Igniter
T rem ve, pr ceed as f ll ws:
a) Rem ve facia panel.
b) Pull ff igniter lead and, fr m inside, rem ve nut
which secures igniter t facia panel.
Replace parts in reverse rder and check that pil t
ignites fr m spark. Refer t User Instructi ns f r
lighting pr cedure.

3.6.2 Spark Electrode
a) Rem ve griddle plate and facia panel.
b) Release therm c uple tubing nut and rem ve
therm c uple fr m pil t assembly.
c) Rem ve spark igniti n lead fr m electr de by
releasing M4 securing nut.
d) Release tubing nut which secures electr de t
pil t assembly and rem ve electr de.
Replace parts in reverse rder.
Note
When re-fitting spark electr de terminal, ensure it is
turned away fr m manual igniti n h le in bulkhead.
3.7 GAS TAP

as detailed in Secti n 3.2 and pr ceed as f ll ws:
a) Und nut securing burner feed pipe t c ntr l.
b) Release pil t tubing nut fr m c ntr l and ease pil t
tube clear f l cati n.
c) Rem ve fixings which secure c ntr l t fl at rail.
d) Man euvre c ntr l t enable therm c uple
rem val.
e) Withdraw c ntr l.
When replacing c ntr l, ensure sealing gasket is in a
serviceable c nditi n and check gas tightness.
T clean and lubricate tap, pr ceed as f ll ws:
f) Und screws that fix fr nt securing plate and at the
same time, h ld plate against internal spring
pressure.
g) Carefully withdraw plate, c mplete with perating
spindle.
h) Withdraw exp sed r d, spring, brass washer and
sealing washer. Take care n t t l se any f these
small parts.
j) Withdraw plug and clean it with a s ft rag.
Als clean mating h le in c ntr l b dy.
Sparingly re-grease plug with an appr ved heat
resistant grease.
Re-assemble strictly in reverse rder. Take care with
central pin assembly.
i.e. Fit spring t pin first, then brass washer and finally
rubber sealing washer.
When inserting assembly int plug, ensure sealing
washer fits snugly int recess at b tt m f h le in
plug.
When re-assembling perating spindle, ensure that
niting pin engages in the plug sl t.
Adjusting Low Flame Setting
L w flame setting is adjustable by means f a screw
n c ntr l fr nt. Refer t Figure 1 and Secti n 1.10.2.
If it is necessary t adjust flame, ad pt the f ll wing
pr cedure:
k) Turn adjusting screw fully cl ckwise, then unscrew
appr x.

n) Observe that flame is stable and if required,
carefully adjust screw within the limits given f r
satisfact ry perati n. Turning screw in an
anti-cl ckwise directi n will increase flame and
vice-versa.
On tw burner m dels, b th burners require
adjustment.
When replacing c ntr l, ensure sealing gasket is in a
serviceable c nditi n and check gas tightness.
Take care n t t bend therm c uple tubing t less
than 12mm radius.
3.8 GOVERNOR
This applies t Natural Gas appliances nly.
The type f g vern r used is maintenance free.
Check that blue dust cap c vering vent is fitted and in
g d c nditi n. This pr tects breather h le.
SECTION 4 - SPARES
When rdering spare parts, always qu te appliance
type and serial number. This inf rmati n will be f und
n the data plate, l cated at unit rear.
In additi n, the serial number is als printed n an
identificati n label n the unit fr nt.
