The sole purpose of this unit is for the prevention
of scale buildup in tankless, storage tank and
solar hot water systems and is not intended for
any other use.
It is very important that all persons who are
expected to install or operate this system and/or
water heater read these instructions along with
those instructions provided with the tankless
water heater.
Please read all instructions before beginning your
installation.
It is highly recommended that this installation be
completed by a licensed contractor.
TOOLS NEEDED:
Because any approved piping material PVC,
copper, PEX, flex lines, etc. can be used with
this unit, the tools needed will vary with each
installation and the piping material used. Only
common tools generally carried and used by a
licensed contractor for the piping material being
used will be required.
DO NOT:
• Overtighten fittings.
• Install with water pressure above 75 PSI.
• Install in direct sunlight.
• Allow to freeze.
• Install using water above 80oF.
• Install within a re-circulating system.
• Install near another heat source.
• Use Pipe Dope or other liquid sealant.
• Install above equipment that will result in
damage to the equipment or area adjacent to
the heater or to lower floors of the structure.
• Use with water that is of unknown or unsafe
water quality.
DO:
• Use only Teflon Tape for sealant.
• Install in a vertical and upright position.
• Allow a minimum of 3 inches below the bottom
of the unit for future filter replacement.
• Install on the cold water feed to the heater only.
• Follow the arrows for the correct direction of
flow (Diagram 1A, see page 2).
BEFORE BEGINNING YOUR INSTALLATION:
• If installing on an existing tankless water
heater that has been in service for 3 months
or longer, de-scaling the heater, using the
manufacturer’s recommended de-scaling
procedure is highly recommended.
• If there is not a convenient water supply shut
off valve already in place, it is recommended
to install a full flow shut off valve prior to the
inlet “IN” side of the unit to be used for future
filter changes.
BEGINNING INSTALLATION:
• Locate an area on the wall suitable to bear
the weight of the unit near the tankless water
heater for mounting, keeping in mind the need
for future filter changes.
• Install the mounting bracket on the head of the
unit, using the 4 screws (included). For your
convenience, the mounting bracket can be
installed with the flow going in either direction
(Diagram 1A & 1B, see page 2). Determine the
direction of flow you require before installing
the mounting bracket. The flow will go into
the inlet “IN” side and exit the “OUT” to the
heater (Diagram 2A, see page 2).
• Securely install the unit with the mounting
bracket to the wall or other secure location.
To mount, use appropriate screws, fasteners,
bolts, etc. (not included) depending on the
need for your particular installation.
INSTALLATION:
• Install on the cold water feed line going to
the tankless unit before the line goes into the
tankless water heater.
• Run the water to the “IN” inlet side of the unit.
The water will exit the outlet “OUT” side and
direct this water to the home for usage.
• Complete your installation using approved
methods and materials.
Use these instructions for guidance and good
practice.
