IMPORTANT SAFETY REGULATIONS
Regulations regarding fire hazard,
electric shock and injuries of persons!
Keep these safety warnings.
The SM-250 is an active monitoring system for floor monitoring or fullrange active speaker applications. The aligned electronics
and connections have been integrated into the speaker enclosure. Also, the entire power electronics have been accommodated inside
the unit. One power cord will suffice.
This user manual helps you in understanding and using the functions and options of this active speaker much more quickly. If any-
thing remains unclear do not hesitate to contact your dealer or us. We also always welcome your suggestions for improvement and
objective criticism. We want to ensure a safe and smooth operation. Therefore, please note the following safety information:
1. Read these instructions before operating this device.
2. In order to reduce the chance of injuries close supervision is necessary when any ap-
pliance is used by or near children.
3. Do not use this device near water (e.g. sink, swimming pool or wet surfaces).
4. This device can generate high volume which can lead to permanent hearing damage.
Do not expose yourself to such high levels for a longer period of time. Should your hear-
ing be impaired or should you feel a ringing in your ear seek medical treatment immedi-
ately.
5. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with manufacturer’s
instructions.
6. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other
apparatus that produce heat.
7. Please ensure that the electrical power supply corresponds with the voltage indicated
on the device.
8. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of
time. Never pull on the cable itself - pull only on the connector housing.
9. Make sure that the device does not fall over or fall down. Also, no liquids should pen-
etrate the ventilation slots or get inside of the device.
10. Refer all servicing to qualified servicing personnel as soon as:
A. the mains cord or socket is damaged, or
B. foreign object or liquid have penetrated the inside of the device, or
C. the device has been exposed to rain, or
D. the device does not operate as usual, unusual changes in performance, or
E. the device has been dropped or the housing is damaged.
12. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Instead, leave all servicing and repairs to
qualified and authorized personnel.
13. WARNING - Do not place any object on the device’s power cord and make sure to
lay cables in such a way that they cannot be damaged and do not represent a trip haz-
ard. Only use intact cables and distributor panels. Power cords with an insulated protec-
tive earth conductor are prohibited.
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an
equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the
system enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude
to constitute a risk of electric shock.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle,
as marked on the speakers, is intended to alert the
user to the presence of important operating and
maintenance instructions in this owner’s guide.

Operating and Installation Instructions
1. Protection and maintenance
In order to ensure smooth operation never expose the system to extreme sunlight, high temperatures, moisture or dust over long
periods of time. Do not operate under excessive vibration and never remove the protective speaker grille. In case of a defect please
contact MUSIC STORE service and do not open the device!
2. Avoiding interactions
Do not operate the device near a radio or television. This could lead to hum and other unwanted noises. When connecting other
equipment avoid ground loops. Should you still hear a humming noise, you can prevent this by pressing the SHIELD switch located
on the control panel.
3. Connections
Before connecting the passive speaker to the electricity grid, please ensure that the electrical power supply corresponds with the
voltage indicated on the device (+/- 10% tolerance is allowed). Only turn the device on after you have plugged in the power cord.
Also, turn the device off before unplugging the power cord. Any further connection of cables should be done when the device is
switched off. The mixer should be turned on before turning on the device. This prevents annoying and dangerous switch-on noises.
4. Cables
When connecting a mixer to the device please make sure to only use intact and screened cables. Cables without electrical screen-
ing can cause problems due to signal or hum interferences. When connecting satellites to the bass speaker please use SPEAKON
cables of good quality. Check your cables’ condition regularly.

6. Connections and setup
The Active System
1. Connections
Use the included power cord to connect the device to a power source. Adjust the control knob MASTER VOLUME accordingly.
Microphones and instrument with a low input level can be connected to the combo jack MIC/INST. This jack fits XLR (microphones)
as well as jack plugs (e.g. guitars). The volume of the channel can be adjusted via the GAIN control knob. The RCA jacks TAPE L/R
can be used for CD’s, DAT’S or tapes. The GAIN control knob adjusts the volume of these parameters.
The LINE IN and LOOP THRU jacks connect mixers, monitors (Line Out or Monitor Out) and instruments with a higher input level.
Both jacks are connected in parallel and only differ in their shape. To connect a passive speaker you can use the Speakon jack
EXTERNAL SPEAKER. Please note that only one speaker at 8 Ohms impedance can be connected. Connection of a 4 Ohms speaker
or multiple 8 Ohms speakers is not allowed.
The desired sound adjustments can be made via the control knobs LOW and HIGH. The position of the MASTER VOLUME knob
defines the overall volume. The overload indicator PEAK lights up in order to indicate distortions within the preamp and works
independently from the MASTER VOLUME knob. The LOW CUT switch has to be activated when an active speaker is operated in
combination with an active bass cabinet. The reproduced bass frequencies coming from the active bass are now suppressed by the
LOW CUT switch.
2. Setup
The active speaker can be used as a floor monitor or as a fullrange active system. For both applications, the sides of the device
have rubber feet. A speaker flange is located on the longside for use on a pole socket.
The active monitor is equipped with a 12“ speaker and a 3/4“ (60x40) compression driver with tweeter.
The power output of the power amp is 200 W RMS at 4 Ohms.
