SAFETY NOTICE
The author and the publisher are not liable for
any physical damage or personal injury
resulting from failure to comply with these
instructions or for what has not been
explained in these instructions.
Maintenance must be carried out by suitably
qualified persons, who use appropriate tools
with regard to the complexity of the
maintenance.
These instructions describe everyday basic
maintenance and do not cover major repairs.
We recommend that you carry out proper
maintenance in an authorised service centre.
Repairs and maintenance work may be
dangerous. This security notice describes
only some of the potential risks and is
intended to alert the user to the dangers of
maintenance.
Personal protection:
Wear suitable protective equipment: safety
glasses, mask, protective gloves, helmet,
footwear, work clothes, etc. Always carry out
work in the presence of another person.
Unstable vehicles:
Never work under or near a vehicle that has
been lifted only with a jack. When working
under or near a raised vehicle, always make
sure that the jack is used in combination with
suitable stands or other suitable supports,
which combined with the jack and racks
support the specific weight of the vehicle.
Make sure that the vehicle is properly
positioned and secured on level ground, and
that other forces that could move the vehicle
during maintenance and cause serious or
even fatal injury do not influence the vehicle.
Hot parts:
Some parts, such as brake drums, gear units,
and bearings can become extremely hot
during use.
Pressurised hydraulic and air systems:
Before performing maintenance on a
hydraulic or air system, which is under high
pressure, pay particular attention to avoid
accidents and injuries or damage when the
pressure is released in the system itself.
Risk of fire, smoke, toxic gases and irritant
substances:
All fuels are highly flammable and oil vapour
can be very explosive. Only use suitable and
recognised cleaning fluids to clean and
degrease parts and follow the instructions on
the packaging. Avoid contact with skin and do
not breathe in vapours, smoke or toxic gases.
It is forbidden to smoke, use open flames, or
cause sparks if there is a possibility of
explosion or fire and in the presence of
flammable vapours, fuels, oils, paint, solvents,
dust, dry straw, etc. A suitable fire
extinguisher, depending on the degree of risk,
must always be within reach.
Asbestos:
The brake pads of the embedded axles do not
contain asbestos particles. Coatings without
asbestos were used before the EU
regulations prohibited its use. If you are in
doubt about the presence of asbestos (for
example, when performing maintenance on
older types of axes), treat the brakes and
brake pads as if they contain asbestos,
because asbestos dust can cause serious
health problems.
Environment:
Respect the environment and do not deposit
various oils, lubricants and used chemical
products in the wild. In accordance with the
Hazardous Waste Regulations, ensure that
hazardous waste is delivered to a suitable
collection or recycling centre for hazardous
waste.
