short. Handle the cord carefully for longer life.
9. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces. Do not wrap the cord around
the appliance.

OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a
safetyfeaturethisplugwilltinapolarizedoutletonlyoneway.Iftheplug
doesnottfullyintheoutlet,reversetheplug.Ifitstilldoesnott,contacta
qualiedelectrician.Donotattempttodefeatthissafetyfeature.
The CHI®Iron has been designed with an ALCI (Appliance Leakage Current
Interrupter) plug protective device that may make the appliance inoperable
under some abnormal conditions (such as, but not limited to, immersions of the
appliance). This protective device helps to prevent electric shocks. If the CHI®
Iron does not turn on when the button is turned On, be sure that the red reset
button on the plug is depressed. In the case of local electrical interruptions, be
sure to reset the plug before using it again. An appliance that does not operate
in the proper function condition is to be discarded or returned to a service center
forexaminationandrepair.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT ALCI SAFETY PLUG
1. “TEST” button ensures the ALCI plug device is operational.
2. “RESET” button clears the ground fault and restores the ALCI to
normal operation.
3. The ALCI should be TESTED every use.
4.WhenREDbuttonextendsOUT,theALCIhasoperated.Thisindicatesthat
the appliance is not in proper functioning condition and is to be discarded or
returnedtoasecureservicecenterforexaminationandrepair.
5. If there is any indication that the appliance does not operate in the proper
functioning condition, it should be returned to a service center for
examinationandrepair(See“LIMITEDWARRANTY”Section).

BASIC OPERATIONS
Plug the appliance into the correct power supply.

Use + or – buttons to manually adjust heat settings.
For access to preset settings press the mode button. Preset temperatures are
color coded based on hair type.
For Fine hair set to 370oF, Blue light
For Medium hair set to 395oF, Green light
For Coarse hair set to 425oF, Red light
This iron features rapid Infrared Ray heating from the Ceramic heater, and
uses the Ceramic coated plates to protect hair condition.
MAINTENANCE
Your appliance is virtually maintenance free. No lubrication is needed.
Keep heated surfaces clean and free of dust, dirt, and hair spray. If cleaning
becomes necessary, disconnect the appliance from the power source and
wipetheexteriorwithadampcloth.Ifthecordbecomestwisted,untwist
prior to use.
USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTION
Avoid any contact with skin, the surface is too hot!!
When in frequent daily use, set the iron on a damp towel, or in an iron
holder between applications. Do not set the iron on delicate cabinet surface
ornearanyammablematerials.
The ceramic plates may be cleaned of product build-up using rubbing
alcohol and a clean cloth. Be sure that the CHI®iron is turned off,
unplugged, and cool to the touch before cleaning. Do not use abrasive
cleansers or materials on the ceramic plates, as this will damage the
heating surface.
As with any electrical appliance, keep the CHI®iron away from water.
Never submerge the CHI®iron in water as it will damage the Iron, void the
warranty,andmaycauseinjurytopersonsortheriskofre.

When not used, keep the Iron unplugged. Do not leave it in hot and humid places.
If the cord of the Iron is twisted, untwist the cord before use.
Converters CANNOT be used. If you require a different voltage, please ask your
distributor for the correct CHI®Hairstyling Iron.
Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative.
If any malfunction occurs, do not attempt to repair it yourself. Call the service
center. (See “LIMITED WARRANTY” Section).
GROUND INSTRUCTIONS, SERVICING OF DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCES
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are provided instead of grounding.
No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for
groundingbeaddedtotheappliance.Servicingadouble-insulatedappliancerequiresextreme
careandknowledgeofthesystemandshouldbedoneonlybyaqualiedservicepersonnel.
Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must be identical to the parts they replace.
A double-insulated appliance is marked with the words “DOUBLE INSULATION or DOUBLE
INSULATED.” The symbol within a square may also be marked on the appliance.

comprised primarily of professional hairdressers that serves beauty industry
professionalsinthesalonenvironment.FaroukSystems,Inc.,therstinthe
industrytouseceramicionictechnology,wantsyoutobesatisedwithyour
appliance purchase and makes the following two (2) year limited warranty for
Farouk Systems, Inc. appliances purchased through a professional salon. This
warranty does NOT cover appliances purchased through any other outlet.
LIMITED TWO-YEAR WARRANTY FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT
What Does This Warranty Cover? Any malfunction or defect caused by faulty
materials or workmanship for any Farouk Systems, Inc. appliance that was
purchased through a professional salon or other authorized distributor.
How Long Does The Warranty Last? Two (2) years from the date of purchase.
Limitations. (A) THE DURATION OF ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, GOOD AND
WORKMANLIKE PERFORMANCE OF SERVICE, OR OTHERWISE, ON THIS PRODUCT ARE

What Will Farouk Do? Farouk Systems, Inc. will repair or replace your
appliance at no charge other than a $15.00 return shipping and handling fee. The
replacement or repaired appliance is warranted for the remainder of the original
two (2) year warranty period. If the tool sent in is no longer available, it will be
replaced with a comparable tool.
What Does This Warranty Not Cover? This warranty does not cover any steel
parts;plasticparts;excord;damagescausedbynegligence,misuse,tampering,
alteration, failure to follow safety, operation or maintenance instructions;
appliances purchased through any other outlet that is not a professional salon;
or alteration or removal of the serial number or other identifying marks on the
appliance or the packaging. Further, this warranty does not cover normal wear
and tear.
How to Get Your Appliance Repaired or Replaced?
Save your original receipt. Then Either:
(A) Return the appliance with the original receipt to the professional salon from
whichitwaspurchasedwheretheappliancemaybeexchangedatnocharge,
dependingontheretailer’sexchangepolicy(termsandconditionsmayvary
dependingonstore’sexchangepolicy);or
(B) Contact Farouk Systems, Inc. Customer Service at [phone] if
you have any questions regarding your tool. Send your tool, along with any
completed warranty card that accompanied the tool at time of purchase, the
original receipt indicating the location and date of purchase and a check or
money order made payable to Farouk Systems, Inc. for $15 to cover shipping
and handling, to the following address:

LES INSTRUCTION D’OPERATION DE L’APPAREIL
Cet appareil a un plot polarisé. Pour assurer votre sécurité, ce plot conviendra dans
la prise avec une seule manière. Si le plot ne convient pas totalement avec la prise,
reversezleplot.Sicaneconvientpasnonplu,contactezunélectricienqualié.
N’essayez pas de vaincre cette particularité de sécurité.
LeferàcheveuxCHI®a était désigné avec un plot ALCI (Interrupteur du circuit
de détection d’immersion) protectif qui peut bloquer l’opération de l’appareil
lorsdesconditionsanormaux(commel’immersiondel’appareilparexemple).
Cesystemprotectifaideàlimiterleschocsélectriques.SileferàcheveuxCHI®
ne fonctionne plus après l’allumage du bouton On, assurez-vous que le bouton
rouge de réinstallation sur le plot n’est pas pressé. Dans le cas d’une interruption
électrique locale assurez vous de réinstaller le plot avant la réutilisation. Un appareil
qui ne fonctionne pas proprement doit être retourné au centre de service pour
examinassionsetréparation.
UN MESSAGE IMPORTANT À PROPOS DE L’ALCI PLOT
DE SECURITE (ALCI c’est l’Interrupteur de la Fuite de Circuit dans l’Appareil)
1. Le « Test » bouton assure que l’ALCI plot est opérationnel.
2. Le « Reset » bouton efface le défaut et restaure l’ALCI à une opération normale.
3. L’ALCI doit être TESTÉ pendant chaque utilisation.
4. Quand le bouton ROUGE s’étend dehors, ca veut dire que l’ALCI a bien
opéré. Cela indique que l’appareil ne fonctionne pas proprement et que vous
devez vous débarrasser de l’appareil ou le retourner a un centre de service
desécuritépourexaminassionsetréparation.
5. Si vous trouvez n’importe quelle indication que l’appareil ne fonctionne pas
proprement, vous devez le retourner au centre de service pour
examinassionsetréparation(voyezlasection«GARANTIELIMITEE»).

l’appareilavecuntissuhumide.Silelestmaltourné,retournezleavantl’usage.

serviette mouillée, ou dans un porte-fer entre une application et une autre. Ne
pausezjamaisleferàcheveuxsurdessurfacesdélicatesouacotedesmatériaux
blâmables.
Les plaques céramiques peuvent être nettoyées en utilisant de l’alcool et un tissu
propre.Assurez-vousqueleferàcheveuxCHI®est éteint, débranché, et froid à la
touchée avant de le nettoyer. N’utilisez jamais des matières nettoyantes abrasives
sur les plaques céramiques, parce que cela endommagera les surfaces chauffantes.
Commeavectousappareilsélectriques,éloignezleferàcheveuxCHI®de l’eau.
Nejamaissubmergerleferàcheveuxdansl’eauparcequeçaval’endommager,
annuler la garantie, et peut causer des blessures sur les personnes, et même avoir

Si le mécanisme d’articulation devient desserré, et les plaques ne s’alignent pas
proprement,alorsl’articulationdoitêtreserrée.Débranchezleferàcheveux,et
laissez le refroidir. Enlevez prudemment les bouchons couvrant l’articulation.
Serrez les vices dans l’articulation jusqu’à ce que les plaques s’alignent. Replacez
les couvercles de l’articulation et utilisez normalement.Lors de non utilisation,
laissezleferàcheveuxdébranché.Nelelaissezjamaisdansdesendroitschaudsou
humides.Silelélectriqueestmaltourné,retournezleavantl’usage.
L’utilisation des adaptateurs N’EST PAS POSSIBLE. Si vous désirez un voltage
différent,veuillezdemanderàvotredistributeurleferàcheveuxcoiffantCHI®avec
voltage correcte.
Tout autre service doit être performé par un représentatif de service autorisé.
Si vous rencontrez des problèmes de mal fonctionnement, n’essayez pas vous-
même de réparer l’appareil. Appelez le centre de service clientèle. (Voyez la
section « GARANTIE LIMITÉE »).
INSTRUCTION DE SOUDAGE, SERVICE DE DOUBLE- ISOLATION
DE L’APPAREIL

soudage. Le non soudage veut dire qu’il est fourni dans un appareil à double-isolation, et aucun

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN
Éste aparato tiene un enchufe polarizado (una clavija es más ancha que la
otra). Como medida de seguridad ésta clavija se podrá conectar únicamente en
un enchufe polarizado en una sola dirección. Si la clavija no entra totalmente
en el enchufe, dele vuelta a la clavija. Si continúa sin entrar, contacte a un
electricistacalicado.Notratededesaaréstamedidadeseguridad.
La plancha CHI®ha sido diseñada con una clavija Interruptor de corriente
para fuga del aparato “ALCI (Appliance Leakage Current Interrupter)”, de
protección que puede volver inoperable el aparato bajo condiciones anormales
(como, pero no limitado a inmersiones del aparato). Éste sistema de protección
ayuda a prevenir electrocutaciónes. Si la plancha CHI®no enciende cuando
el interruptor se encuentra en posición de encendido, asegúrese que el botón
rojo de reinicio “reset” en la clavija no se encuentra oprimido. En el caso de
interrupciones locales de electricidad, asegúrese de reiniciar la clavija antes de
utilizarla nuevamente. Un producto que no opera de manera apropiada debe de
serdescartadoyregresadoalcentrodeservicioparareparaciónyexaminación.
MENSAJE IMPORTANTE ACERCA DE LA CLAVIJA DE
SEGURIDAD ALCI
1. El botón “TEST” asegura que el aparato con clavija ALCI se
encuentra operacional.
2. El botón “RESET” limpia la falta de tierra y repara la operación normal
de ALCI.
3. El ALCI debe de ser PROBADO (TEST) en cada uso.
4. Cuando el botón ROJO muestra OUT, ALCI ha operado. Esto indica que el
electrodoméstico no se encuentra en condiciones para funcionar y
ya no debe de ser utilizado o devuelto a un centro seguro de servicio para su
examinaciónyreparación.
5.Siexistealgunaindicacióndequeelaparatonooperademanerafuncional,
debedeserregresadoalcentrodeservicioparaexaminaciónyreparación
(Lea la sección “GARANTÍA LIMITADA”).
