1. Honeywell Zellweger IR-148 Description
The Honeywell Infrare Gas Monitor (Mo el IR-148) etects solvents an gases such as
HCFCs, HFCs an PFCs. IR-148 can have 1, 4 or 8 sampling points. This InfraTox river
reports gas values, alarms an troubles from IR-148 having either 1 or 8 sampling points.
The serial river can emulate a client or a server. The Fiel Server an IR-148 evice are
connecte using a RS-485 network.
As a Client: The river listens passively for messages from the Honeywell Zellweger IR-148 t
an stores ata extracte from the messages. The river cannot poll the IR-148 evice for
ata. The river recor s some a itional ata age information (which is store in the
Fiel Server’s Data Arrays) because messages o not always contain information about all
sensors an epen ing on the IR-148 operational mo e (e.g. Locke mo e.), may never
contain information other than for one sensor.
As a Server: The Server si e of this river has been evelope primarily to test the Client si e
river as part of Fiel Server’s QA program. The river sen s messages reporting the state of
the samples. The Server river can also be locke to report the status/value of one particular
sample channel.
It is possible to connect two Honeywell Zellweger units (IR-148) on one RS-485 network
provi e that one unit is configure as a single point unit (IR-148 1 point) an the other as an 8
point unit (IR-148 8 point). At this stage only one evice with 8 points has been teste .
To allow for the possibility that the evice is connecte on a RS-485 network with other evices
(such as the relay mo ule option) messages that are not 49 bytes long an which o not begin
with 0xB1 will be ignore . The Driver will, however, provi e statistics for the ignore as well as
the processe messages.

4. Configuring the FieldServer as a Honeywell Zellweger IR-148 Client

Configuration Manual. The information that follows escribes how to expan upon the factory
efaults provi e in the configuration files inclu e with the Fiel Server (See “.csv” sample files
provi e with the Fiel Server).
This section ocuments an escribes the parameters necessary for configuring the Fiel Server
to communicate with a Honeywell Zellweger IR-148 Server having one or eight sensors.
4.1. Data Arrays/Descriptors
The configuration file tells the Fiel Server about its interfaces, an the routing of ata

5.3.3. Map Descriptor Example 1 Server using Data Array:
The following Map Descriptor enables this Driver to sen ata for all 8 sensors to the No e (DEV1) connecte at the Fiel Server. See Appen ix A for the Data Array format. The Driver can sen Gas value messages, Alarm messages, Trouble messages an lock point messages. The river can also be locke to sen ata for only one particular sensor. In this example, if a vali (1-8) sensor number is inserte at offset 0 in the Data
Array DA_CTL_R1, the river will only sen ata for that particular sensor. To isable the lock, insert an invali (0 or >8) number.

Some configuration errors might pro uce an error every time a poll is generate . This will fill the
error buffer quickly an not a any clarity. For this reason the river suppresses subsequent
similar messages. Thus it is possible for the same error pro uce by multiple Map Descriptors
to pro uce only one error message. Subsequent error messages can be seen on the river
message screen.
Note : In the actual message you will see that % has been replace by an integer, %s by text
in icating a ata array name or map escriptor name an %x by two hex characters.
