operating and maintenance procedures, parts list and diagram. Keep your invoice with this

Safety Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: When using tool, basic safety precautions should always be followed to re-
duce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment.
Read all instructions before using this tool!
1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. Observe work area conditions. Do not attempt to cut thin or cracked ice surfaces. It
may weaken the area where you are standing and you may fall through.
3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area or allowed to
play with this tool.
4. Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to
inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.
5. Use the right tool for the job. Do not attempt to force a small tool or attachment to
do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applications for which this tool
was designed. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was
intended. Do not modify this tool and do not use this tool for a purpose for which it
was not intended.
6. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
7. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer
performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect
tool cords periodically and, if damaged, have them repaired by an authorized
technician. The handles must be kept clean, dry, and free from oil and grease at all
times.
8. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool
when you are tired.

9. Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its
intended function. Check for alignment and binding of moving parts; any broken parts
or mounting fixtures; and any other condition that may affect proper operation. Any
part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified
technician.
10. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories
intended for use with this tool. Approved accessories are available from Harbor
Freight Tools.
11. Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning
labels if taking prescription medicine to determine if your judgment or reflexes are
impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not operate the tool.
12. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.
13. Use tools with both hands when required. Many tools such as this one, require the
use of both hands when operating. This helps maintain tool stability and keeps hands
away from the working area of the tool.
Product Specific Safety Precautions
1. Avoid accidents from the razor sharp Cutting Tips (3). When not using the Ice Auger,
always place the Cutting Tip Cover on the sharp Cutting Tips. Always collapse
the Ice Auger and place in its carrying case when transporting.
2. Completely dry off the Ice Auger before storing. Otherwise, the operational parts of the
unit will rust.
3. This tool should only be used by those individuals who are knowledgeable as to the
safe practices of ice fishing, and the inherent demands of traversing frozen bodies of
water.
4. Always wear an approved life jacket when traversing frozen bodies of water.
5. Only use this tool for it intended purpose of cutting through ice.
Warning:The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be under-
stood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure that all the parts are included. See Parts Diagram on
page 5. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number
on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.

Operation
Warning: Never stand on, or attempt to cut through, thin ice. The ice could break through
causing you to fall in the water.
1. Remove the Ice Auger from its Carrying Case (9).
2. Snap off one end of the Safety Clip (7). See photos on page 3 and below.
3. Loosen Wing Nut (6) enough to allow the Crank Handle (1) and the Auger Shaft (2) to
pivot on their hinge and lay straight.
4. Securely retighten Wing Nut (6).
5. Remove the Cutting Tip Cover (10), then lift the Ice Auger and hold vertical to the ice.
6. Hold the Handles with both hands and begin to turn clockwise. Turn slowly at first until
the auger engages the ice.
7. When finished drilling, collapse the Ice Auger, dry off, Put the Cutting Tip Cover (10)
on and store in its Carrying Case (9).

Maintenance
1. Wash off and dry the Ice Auger after each use, and before storing.
2. Periodically tighten the Cutting Tip Bolts (4).
3. When the Cutting Tips (3) become dull, have them sharpened by a qualified service
technician. Remove Tip Bolts (4) to remove Cutting Tips (3).
