Solar Animal Repeller
Intended use
This product is intended for use as an animal repellant, through the
use of background noise and/or flashing light. Any use of the
product for other or additional purposes is considered improper
use. No claims can be made for problems cause by improper use
or failure to comply with the operational and safety instructions
included in the operational manual. The product is not intended
for commercial use.
Mechanism
The solar animal repellent registers the body heat of animals that
move in the detection range of the motion sensor. As soon as an
animal is registered, the device produces a very high pitched tone,
which is uncomfortable for animals. As different animals can have
different hearing ranges, the frequency of the signal can be ad-
justed. Nocturnal animals can also trigger an automatic flashing light.
To be able to repel lots of different animals, you can adjust the
settings to combine any of the signal frequencies with the flashing
light.

7GB/IE
WARNING: Frequencies from 16 Hz to a maximum of 20kHz
can generally be heard by humans. However, with increasing age,
humans‘ ability to hear higher frequencies is reduced. You should
work on the assumption the programmes 1, 2 and 5 release
frequencies, which can be heard by humans.
Thus you should set up the device so that it is out of the hearing
range of humans.

Before use
Replacing/inserting
rechargeable batteries
The batteries 15 are already installed in the device on delivery.
Replace the rechargeable batteries when you notice the

12 GB/IE
operational period of the item has noticeably decreased over
time, despite full exposure to solar radiation.
Open the battery cover and remove the old batteries 8.
Then remove the fixing screws of the battery compartment lid.
If necessary, remove the old rechargeable batteries and insert
three new batteries. Clean the battery and battery compart-
ment contacts if necessary. Only use NiMH rechargeable bat-
teries of type AA 1.2V, 800mAh. When inserting, ensure the
correct polarity has been used. This is indicated in the battery
compartment.
When closing the battery compartment, ensure that the seal is
in the correct place 9.
Charge indicator
The charge level of the rechargeable batteries is shown on the de-
vice on the charge indicator 6(a red LED on the motion sensor)
when it is switched on.
LED is illuminated: fully charged batteries
LED is flashing: the batteries are empty and must be
charged

13GB/IE
Charging the batteries
The batteries are delivered fully charged. In direct sunlight the
rechargeable batteries are charged by the built-in solar cell 10 .
They can also be charged using the enclosed USB charging cable.
Charging the batteries with the solar cell
The product‘s solar panel 10 converts sunlight into electrical en-
ergy and stores it in the batteries.
To ensure optimal battery charging, position the device in a
place, which is exposed to direct sunlight. To fully charge un-
loaded batteries, the solar panel must be exposed to at least
8 hours of direct sunlight.
Charging the batteries with the USB charging cable
Especially during the darker times of the year, depending on the
length of time for which the device is activated each day, you may
find that sunlight does not provide the batteries with enough en-
ergy. However, you can charge the batteries using the enclosed
USB charging cable 13 and your computer or a standard USB
adapter (not included in delivery). This charging process must be
carried out indoors because the splash protection no longer works
when the charging socket is open.

14 GB/IE
Switch the device to Programme 0 during the charging pro-
cess to prevent disturbances from visual or acoustic signals.
Remove the rubber plugs from the USB charging socket 12 .
Plug the USB charging cable‘s 13 round plug into the USB
charging socket and connect the USB plug of the charging ca-
ble to your computer with a USB port. Alternatively, you can
use a USB adapter, which can be bought from a retailer.
Depending on the current charging state of the batteries,
charging takes approx. 5–10 hours. During the charging pro-
cess, the charge indicator 6flashes.
Start-up
The product is protected against splash water and is thus suitable
for outdoor use. Ensure that all seals (under the battery compart-
ment cover 8and on the USB charging socket 12 ) are posi-
tioned correctly. There are two possible installation options:
Installation on the ground, using
the ground spike
The enclosed ground spike 14 comes in two parts, but for low
installation heights, one part can be used on its own. Never
place the device directly onto the ground: it can be flooded in
heavy rain.

15GB/IE
Push the point of the ground spike into soft earth. Never use
force.
Push the open end of the ground spike in the device‘s ground
spike holder 11 .
Point the device, so that the motion sensor 5is pointed to-
wards the area you wish to monitor. Make sure that the area
you wish to monitor is not blocked by objects, such as trees or
garden furniture.
Installation on a wall using a screw/peg
Use the enclosed peg 17 (Ø 6mm) and the screw 16 to install
the device on a wall. This installation material is intended for a
normal wall. If the wall you wish to install the device on has a
different consistency, check with a specialist to find out which
material is suitable for installation on your wall.
Ensure the screw 16 is a maximum of 1.5m above the ground.
Allow the screw to protrude approx. 1cm from the wall and
use the loop 7to hang the device on the screw.
Operation
The device has two adjustment options:

16 GB/IE
Adjusting the motion sensor
The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted using the sensitivity
controller 2. This affects the range and the size of the animal that
can be detected:
To detect small animals the size of a rodent (e.g. mice) turn the
sensitivity controller to the „max.“ position. The range for detecting
small animals like these is approx. 2m.
If you only want to detect larger animals (e.g. dogs or foxes) and
not smaller animals, turn the sensitivity controller anticlockwise to-
ward the „min.“ mark. The motion sensor‘s 5range for detecting
large animals is approx. 2m.
Adjusting the signal frequency
The device has 5 different programmes to repel animals.
Programme 0 The device is switched off. The charging
function using the solar panel 10 or the USB
charging cable 13 is activated.
Programme 1 13.5kHz–17.5kHz (against rodents like
mice or rats)
Programme 2 15.5kHz–19.5kHz (against dogs and foxes)
Programme 3 19.5kHz–23.5kHz (against dogs, cats and
birds)

17GB/IE
Programme 4 Flashing light
Programme 5 All programmes are used.
