Congratulations on the purchase of your new automatic
pool cleaner. This manual will guide you through the steps
needed to install and operate it. Please read it carefully.
Hose can trip or entangle swimmers. Do not
allow swimmers in pool while cleaner is operating.
PREPARE YOUR POOL
Before installing your Cleaner, clean your filter system and
empty all leaf baskets. A clean filter system is necessary for
proper operation of automatic pool cleaners. It will also
lessen the load on your pump and reduce electricity and
pump repair bills.
Prepare your pool as follows:
1. Manually vacuum the pool
2. Brush the walls and other parts of the pool surface to
lift off grime and algae.
3. Clean the filter and remove debris from the pump
strainer and skimmer baskets.
4. Chemically balance the pool water.
DECIDE ON THE SUCTION
CONNECTION
1. Decide on the suction connection you will use –
either a dedicated wall fitting or a skimmer.
2. Identify the filter valves that control water flow through
the intakes in your pool. When you install the Cleaner
you will adjust the valves (if your system has valves)
of your pump/filter to draw the water through the cho-
sen connection.
UNPACK AND ASSEMBLE YOUR
CLEANER (Figures 1 and 2)
Suction entrapment, injury, and drowning
hazard. If your pool has a dedicated suction port (“vac
port”) for vacuuming or for an automatic pool cleaner, it
must be covered when not in use. A spring loaded safety
cover (a “vac port fitting”) is included with your cleaner.
Install it on the suction port to prevent entrapment and
injury. If the cover provided does not fit, purchase one that
does from your local pool store and install it instead. The
cover should conform to IAPMO SPS4-99A.
1. Open the box and make sure that you have the follow-
ing items. Note that the Cleaner’s unique bumper and
roller assembly may have been attached prior to ship-
ment. If it is not attached, follow the instructions to
attach it yourself.
2. If not already done, attach the Bumper and Roller to
the flexible stalk protruding from the body of the
Cleaner (See Figure 1A).
3. Attach the Pipe and Nut Assembly to the top (thread-
ed) end of the Cleaner (See Figure 2A).
First place the collar of the Bumper and Roller assembly
over the threaded end of the Main Housing and then
screw on the Pipe and Nut Assembly as shown in Figure
2B. When the Pipe and Nut Assembly is installed, the
bumper and roller won’t swing loosely from the cleaner.
Hand tighten the nut as if you were tightening the lid on a
kitchen container; you will occasionally need to unscrew
the Pipe and Nut Assembly to perform routine mainte-
nance on the cleaner.

ATTACH ORIGINAL RECEIPT HERE FOR WARRANTY CONSIDERATION.
FLOTEC warrants to the original consumer purchaser (“Purchaser”) of its prod-
ucts that they are free from defects in material or workmanship.
If within twelve (12) months from the date of the original consumer purchase
any such product shall prove to be defective, it shall be repaired or replaced at
FLOTEC’s option, subject to the terms and conditions set forth below. Your orig-
inal receipt of purchase is required to determine warranty eligibility.
Exceptions to the Twelve (12) Month Warranty
Ninety (90) Day Warranty:
If within ninety (90) days from original consumer purchase any Drill Pump,
Pitcher Pump, or In-Line Water Filter Cartridge shall prove to be defective, it
shall be replaced, subject to the terms set forth below.
Two (2) Year Warranty:
If within two (2) years from original consumer purchase any 1/3 HP Submersible
Sump Pump, Model FP2800DCC, or Pool Cleaner, Models FPPC-5800,
FPPC-5850 and FPPC-5000 shall prove to be defective, it shall be repaired or
replaced at FLOTEC’s option, subject to the terms and conditions set forth below.
Three (3) Year Warranty:
If within three (3) years from original consumer purchase any 4” Submersible
Well Pump, or 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump, shall prove to be defective, it
shall be repaired or replaced at FLOTEC’s option, subject to the terms and con-
ditions set forth below.
Five (5) Year Warranty:
If within five (5) years from original consumer purchase any Pre-Charge water
system tank shall prove to be defective, it shall be repaired or replaced at
FLOTEC’s option, subject to the terms and conditions set forth below.
General Terms and Conditions
Purchaser must pay all labor and shipping charges necessary to replace product
covered by this warranty. This warranty shall not apply to acts of God, nor shall
it apply to products which, in the sole judgement of FLOTEC, have been sub-
ject to negligence, abuse, accident, misapplication, tampering, alteration; nor
due to improper installation, operation, maintenance or storage; nor to other
than normal application, use or service, including but not limited to, opera-
tional failures caused by corrosion, rust or other foreign materials in the system,
or operation at pressures in excess of recommended maximums.
Requests for service under this warranty shall be made by returning the defec-
tive product to the Retail outlet or to FLOTEC as soon as possible after the dis-
covery of any alleged defect. FLOTEC will subsequently take corrective action
as promptly as reasonably possible. No requests for service under this warran-
ty will be accepted if received more than 30 days after the term of the warran-
ty.
This warranty sets forth FLOTEC’s sole obligation and purchaser’s exclusive
remedy for defective products.
FLOTEC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL,
OR CONTINGENT DAMAGES WHATSOEVER.
THE FOREGOING WARRANTIES ARE EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ALL
OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTIES. IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT
NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL NOT EXTEND BEYOND THE
DURATION OF THE APPLICABLE EXPRESS WARRANTIES PROVIDED HEREIN.

quential damages or limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the

INSTALL YOUR CLEANER
Step 1: Connect the hose sections (Figures 3 and 4).
For best results and to retain your warranty, use only gen-
uine Flotec hoses.
Join the Flotec hose sections one to another by fitting the
male end to the female end of the added section (see
Figure 3). Make sure the connections are snug. The num-
ber of lengths that you will need depends on the size of
your pool.
The overall length of hose needed will be the distance
from:
(a) the point at which you will attach the hose to the suc-
tion connection, to (b) the furthest point in the pool from
(a), plus one hose length (Figure 4).
Step 2: Attach the female end of the hose to the
Cleaner (see Figure 5).
Step 3: Balancing the hose (Figure 6).
It may or may not be necessary to add weight to your
hose, depending on your pool’s size, shape, and depth.
Try the cleaner first without any hose weights. If the hose
is too buoyant, add the weight as shown in Figure 6.
Step 4: Attach the regulator valve (Figure 7, 8, and 9).
Before attaching the regulator valve to anything, take a
moment to familiarize yourself with it. During cleaner
operation, the valve will act both as a regulator and as a
gauge to provide information about the suction flow
through the Cleaner.
• Push the valve’s outer barrel towards the female (larg-
er) end of the valve. Notice the side openings that are
revealed, and how the base of the cylinder moves rela-
tive to the yellow band on the female end.

• During operation of the Cleaner, the recommended
suction level through the cleaner is indicated when the
base of the sliding cylinder aligns with or moves into
the yellow area. If the yellow band is completely cov-
ered, you may have excessive suction.
• We will come back to this when optimizing your
cleaner’s performance.
Now fit the female end of the regulator valve to the male
end of the hose.
Set aside the regulator valve cover for now.
Step 5: Attach the hose and cleaner to the filter sys-
tem (Figure 10).
Stop the pool filtration pump. Place the Cleaner in the
pool and allow it to sink to the bottom, pulling the
attached hose with it. Continue to feed the hose into the
water until all air is expelled and you are left holding the
regulator end of the hose.
Hazardous suction. Can trap hair or body
and cause death or serious injury. Make sure that your
dedicated wall fitting has a spring-loaded lid. When
attaching the cleaner hose to a dedicated wall fitting,
always install the regulator valve cover on the regulator
valve first and then install the assembled hose, valve, and
cover in the wall fitting. This will help prevent possible
injury from the pool pump’s suction should the hose
become detached from the regulator valve.

Dedicated Vacuum Port: Locate the valve cover that you
set aside earlier and attach it to the male end of the regu-
lator valve (Figure 11A). This is important.
Now connect the covered regulator on the end of the hose
to the short hose section included with your cleaner. Use
the male-male adapter to connect the short hose section to
the dedicated vacuum port (Figure 11B).
Skimmer (Figure 12): If you are attaching the hose by going
past the weir into the bottom of the skimmer, remove the
skimmer basket and find the opening at the bottom of the
skimmer. (Some skimmers have an additional opening in
the base with a moveable cover. If so, close it.)
Thread the hose through the mouth of the skimmer and
attach the male end of the regulator valve to the main suc-
tion intake/opening as shown in Figure 12.
NOTE: When attaching the hose to a skimmer, do not
attach the valve cover which you set aside earlier. Instead
attach the valve directly to the suction opening. This will
allow larger debris to pass through to the basket in the
pump strainer for collection and disposal.
Check the following:
• Does the regulator valve/cover end fit snugly into the
suction intake opening? If not, you may need to wrap
some electrical tape around the male end of the regu-
lator valve or use the adapter cone supplied as shown
in Figure 13.
• If you have a skimmer and a wall fitting for a suction
cleaner, you can usually adjust the flow through each
using a valve/s located near the filter. If you cannot do
this and water is drawn through both sources, you can
plug the open end of the regulator valve, then insert it
into the bottom of the skimmer, and attach the cleaner
hose directly into the dedicated wall fitting (see Figure
14). (A plug is not supplied. See your pool professional
or a hardware store.) This arrangement will provide
some skimming action through the skimmer, and will
regulate the flow through the cleaner.

Step 6: Start the filter system pump.
Start the pump and set the valves at the filter to draw most
of the water through the cleaner.
Close the main drain (floor drain) and any additional
skimmers.
Allow a few minutes to flush excess air from the system.
With water flowing properly through the system, the hose
and the Cleaner will start to jerk. Your cleaner should pull
itself against the pool bottom and move across it at a rate
of 15 to 25 feet per minute.
OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE
Hazardous suction. Can trap hair or body
and cause death or serious injury.
Do not fit parts to the suction intake while the filter
pump is running.
Be sure that you properly install the regulator valve
before you turn on the pump and fine-tune your cleaning
system. The valve acts as a safety device as well as regu-
lating suction through the cleaner.
Step 1: Check the Hose Length; Remove any Loops.
Using a pool brush and pole, gently pull the Cleaner to
the area of the pool furthest from the vacuum connection.
Make sure that any loops in the hose are pulled out.
The hose should be just long enough to allow the Cleaner
to clean this area. Remove or add a section of hose if
necessary.
Step 2: Adjust Filtration System Valves.
You may need to do some adjusting of the filtration system
valves to optimize the water flow through the Cleaner for
best cleaner operation.
NOTE: Optimizing the water flow does not mean maxi-
mizing the flow through the cleaner. In fact, to ensure a
random pattern of travel that will enable the Cleaner to
reach all areas of your pool, it is better to use less suction,
not more.
• Turn on the pump.
• If you have not already done so, close the valve that
controls the flow through the main drain in the floor of
the pool.
• If your pool has a skimmer as well as a dedicated wall
fitting, or more than one skimmer, adjust the filter
valve/s so that most of the water will be drawn through
the Cleaner. Make a note of which valves these are,
because if you have excessive flow through the clean-
er, you will need to reopen these valves somewhat in
order to adjust the flow (See NOTE, above).
• Now take a look at the regulator valve and determine
whether the base of the sliding barrel has moved into
the area of the yellow band.
NOTE: If the skimmer dimensions do not allow you to see
the yellow band on the regulator valve, as a TEMPORARY
MEASURE while you optimize your cleaner, do the
following:
•S
TOP THE PUMP and detach the valve from the skimmer.
• Separate the hose and attach the valve between two
hose sections.
• Reconnect to the skimmer with the last hose section.
• Have a helper hold the valve under water to prevent it
from sucking air.
• Start the pump and do the checks described above.
• Watch the sliding cylinder in the skimmer (or have
your helper watch it in the pool). If the base of the
sliding cylinder covers most or all of the yellow band,
this indicates at least maximum and probably exces-
sive flow through the Cleaner. Open a filter valve a lit-
tle at a time to allow some flow to bypass the cleaner.
Preferably the excess flow should be diverted to a
skimmer.
Aligning the sliding cylinder with the start or middle of the
yellow band on the valve body will assure good operation
of the Cleaner.
• Once you have correctly regulated the flow, STOP THE
PUMP, remove the valve from the hose, reconnect it to
the end of the hose and reinstall it in the skimmer. DO
NOT operate the cleaner with the regulator connected
between two hose sections.
• With correct flow through the cleaner, your Cleaner
should travel across the pool floor at 15 to 25 feet per
minute.

• If the transition from your pool’s floor to the wall will
allow it, your cleaner will climb up the wall, possibly
to the top, before turning towards the floor again. In
some cases, the cleaner will lose its grip on the wall
and fall back to the floor. This is normal – it is a char-
acteristic that assists the cleaner to form new cleaning
patterns, thus cleaning your pool more effectively. If
the cleaner hugs the walls or hugs the floor excessive-
ly, you need to balance the hose.
• When cleaning walls the Cleaner will occasionally
detach itself and fall to the pool floor. This is normal.
However, when the cleaner falls it should land on the
vacuum plate and then seal itself to the floor within 30
seconds. If the cleaner lands on a steeply sloped sec-
tion of the floor, the sealing process may take longer.
This too is normal.
Step 3: Balancing the hose using the weight
(Figure 16).
It is important to balance the hose so that it is only slightly
lighter than water. If the hose is too buoyant, the Cleaner
will be pulled upward and outward towards the perimeter
of the pool and will not clean the deep end properly. If the
hose is not buoyant enough, it will drag along the pool
floor and impede the cleaning action, particularly of pool
walls.
It may or may not be necessary to add hose weights,
depending on your pool’s size, shape, and depth. If you
have tried it with no hose weights and the hose is too
buoyant, add one weight (supplied) as shown in Figure 6,
Page 5. If the hose is still too buoyant, add a second
weight, as shown in Figure 16, to balance the hose. If nec-
essary, purchase a third hose weight to add between the
third and fourth hose sections.
NOTE: Small bubbles can accumulate on the hoses, par-
ticularly when they are new. The bubbles can affect hose
buoyancy. Try to eliminate bubbles blowing from the
return lines.
Step 4: Adjust Return Line Flow.
The water flow from the return lines can push the
Cleaner’s hose and cause it to turn away from an area in
the pool. The part of the hose near the surface of the pool
should be able to move back and forth in a reasonably
neutral manner and not be driven by currents in an unfa-
vorable direction.
• Try pointing the flow slightly downward and in differ-
ent directions to see what works best in your pool.
• If it is difficult to adjust your return line flow, carefully
loosen the nut of the return fitting and replace the eye-
ball component with the inflow diverters provided in
this package (they will fit many commonly used
fittings – (see Figure 17). Then secure the in flow
diverter using your fitting’s original nut. Finger tighten
only!
• If there is a location in the pool where the cleaner may
tend to become trapped, direct the flow to push either
the hose or the cleaner away from the area.
NOTE: When adjusting the direction of flow, you will
need to allow time for the body of pool water to settle into
the new pattern. Watch the hose floating on the surface. It
will gradually react to the adjusted flow.
MAINTENANCE
Empty the leaf basket (in the filter pump’s strainer) regular-
ly. Overfilled baskets make the pump work harder and
reduce the effectiveness of your cleaner.
Your Cleaner requires very little maintenance.
Check the following from time to time:
• Make sure that the flapper valve is working and is not
obstructed with debris. If necessary, it is quick and easy
to open up the valve chamber. Simply STOP THE PUMP,
unscrew the nut at the base of the connecting tube, and
lift the lid covering the chamber (see Figure 18).

• Check the flapper valve for wear. If it is worn, unclip it
from the steel pin and slide the ends of the flexible
tongues out of the retainer slots. Now replace them
with a new valve (Part No. 41101-0102). No tools or
special adjustments are required.
• Flush away any debris buildup in the regulator valve
by manually moving the outer barrel to open and
close the valve.
• Check the vacuum seal for wear. If the seal is thin and
too floppy, it will impair the correct random move-
ment of the cleaner and should be replaced (Part No.
41101-0122).
• Check the foot-pad for wear. If holes show up in the
foot-pad it is time to replace it.
• Check the bumper and roller for wear. For other
replacement parts, refer to the parts list and pictures
(Pages 12, 13 and 14).
• The Flotec hose is especially designed for use with
your Flotec cleaner. For proper performance and reten-
tion of your warranty, insist on genuine Flotec hose
sections.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Hazardous suction. To avoid possible injury
from pool pump suction, always stop the pump when
removing or installing any attachment to the vacuum
connection or when cleaning the unit.
1. If your cleaner is not performing as it should,
ALWAYS check the following:
• Is the filter clean?
• Is the filter pump strainer basket clean?
• Is debris blocking the passage through the cleaner
or jamming the valve? If so, STOP THE PUMP and try to
remove the debris from the bottom of the cleaner
using a finger. If this is not sufficient, simply
unscrew the nut and lift up the lid to reveal the
chamber and valve. Remove all debris and rinse the
chamber before replacing the lid and reattaching
the nut and connecting tube.
• Is the correct amount of water being drawn through
the cleaner? (i.e., How much suction is there?) With
the pump running, look at the position of the regu-
lator valve barrel relative to the yellow band. If the
barrel covers the yellow area, you have too much
suction. Adjust the valves of your filter system
accordingly.
NOTE: Optimizing the water flow does not mean maxi-
mizing the flow through the cleaner. Excessive suction
may make your cleaner hug the base of the pool walls. In
fact, to ensure a random pattern of travel that will enable
the Cleaner to reach all areas of your pool, it is better to
use less suction, not more.
• If suction through the cleaner remains inadequate
even after closing off alternate intake sources, your
pump and filter system may be too weak or you
may have a constriction in the hose or the filtration
system itself. You may need to consult your pool
professional about corrective action.
• Is debris constricting the flow through the hose
and/or regulator valve? This will make your cleaner
appear sluggish, even though the valve indicates
good suction. Stop the pump and detach the hose
and valve for inspection. Inspect the hose section
by section.
• Are there any leaks in the hose? Replace leaky sec-
tions with genuine Flotec cleaner hose sections.
2. If your Cleaner is not moving or is working slowly:
• Do the checks listed in (1) above to make sure that
the system is clean and an adequate amount of
water is being drawn through the Cleaner.
•STOP THE PUMP, remove the pipe and nut assembly,
open the lid of the Cleaner and make sure that the
flapper valve is properly clipped onto the steel pin.

•STOP THE PUMP and check that the flapper valve is
not worn or damaged.
•STOP THE PUMP and check that the foot-pad is not
worn through.
•STOP THE PUMP and check that the vacuum seal is
not wearing thin.
3. If air bubbles are noticeable at the return jets:
• Check for leaks in the hose.
• Is the water level below the level of the regulator
valve or another intake source? If so, raise the water
level until all intake sources are submerged.
• Make sure the the pump strainer lid is not leaking;
check the O-ring seal.
• Adjust the filter system valve to allow a small quan-
tity of water through the floor drain or another
intake source that may have been shut off com-
pletely. This will often eliminate the bubbles.
4. If the cleaner travels in a repetitive pattern and does
not visit sections of the pool:
• Check that the cleaner and hose are balanced. See
Figure 16, Page 9, for information on balancing the
hose.
NOTE: The closer that the weight is to the cleaner, the
smaller the patterns of travel over the pool floor and walls.
However, putting the weight too close to the cleaner may
make it nose-heavy.
NOTE: In larger pools, the buoyancy of the hose can make
the cleaner hug the walls too much. In this case, move the
weight closer to the joint of the third and fourth sections,
then observe the pattern of operation. If the cleaner is still
not getting to the deep regions of the pool, you should
purchase another weight (Part No. 41201-0238) and
attach it to the fourth section of hose. Then observe the
pattern again and adjust the location of the weights as
necessary.
• Are the hose sections straight? If the sections have
been coiled during storage, this will impair the
cleaner’s operation. Try to straighten the sections by
laying the lengths of connected hose out in the
warm sun. Never use the hand vacuum hose or
another manufacturer’s hose – use only genuine
Flotec hose.
• Are the hose and/or cleaner being affected by return
flow? Adjust the pool return jets to avoid unwanted
flow against the hose or cleaner. Of course, the
flow may also be directed in a particular direction if
it will help to position the hose or improve the trav-
el pattern of the cleaner.
• Try adding or subtracting a section of hose. This will
change the behavior of the cleaner and may be
necessary to break a repetitive pattern of travel.
• Is there too much or too little suction? Refer to the
suggestions under (1) above.
5. If the Cleaner is being trapped in a corner or near the
steps:
• Make sure that the bumper and roller are properly
attached.
• Adjust the return jet closest to the trap so that the
flow of water from it will help to move the hose or
the cleaner itself. This adjustment is best done a lit-
tle at a time.
• Add or subtract a section of hose. This will help the
cleaner avoid the trap or free itself if it gets trapped.
• Change the position of the hose weight to help
swing the cleaner out of the trap.
• Adjust the suction through the cleaner; try lower
and higher levels.
6. If the cleaner falls on its side:
• Check that the connecting tube swivels freely. If
not, flush the area around the swivel connection. If
necessary, replace the connecting tube (Part No.
41101-0126).
• Check that the float is attached, is not damaged,
and is not filled with water (Part No. 41101-0128).
7. Hopper bottomed and square bottomed pools:
• Due to the shape of the floor of these pools, the
cleaner may have a tendency to hug the perimeter
of the pool.
• To reduce adhesion to the floor, operate the cleaner
on a lower suction. This will make it easier for the
cleaner to move away from the perimeter.

de piscine neuf. Vous trouverez, dans cette Notice, toutes les
opérations que vous devrez suivre pour installer et utiliser
votre nettoyeur automatique. Lisez-la attentivement.
Le tuyau souple peut faire trébucher les
baigneurs ou s’enrouler autour d’eux. Ne permettre à personne
de se baigner dans la piscine pendant que le nettoyeur automa-
tique fonctionne.
PRÉPARATION DE LA PISCINE
Avant de procéder à l’installation de votre nettoyeur automa-
tique, nettoyez le système de filtration de votre piscine et videz
tous les paniers filtres à feuilles et à débris. Il est indispensable
que le système de filtration de votre piscine soit propre pour
que votre nettoyeur automatique fonctionne adéquatement. Un
système de filtration propre diminuera également la charge
imposée sur la pompe, vos factures d’électricité seront moins
élevées, de même que celles de réparation de la pompe.
Préparez votre piscine en procédant comme suit :
1. Nettoyez manuellement votre piscine avec l’aspirateur.
2. Brossez les parois et les autres parties de votre piscine de
façon à décoller la saleté et les algues.
3. Nettoyez le filtre du système et enlevez tous les débris des
paniers filtres du corps de la pompe et de l’écumoire.
4. Équilibrez chimiquement l’eau de votre piscine.
DÉCIDEZ QUEL ORIFICE
D’ASPIRATION VOUS UTILISEREZ
1. Décidez quel orifice d’aspiration vous utiliserez – soit un
orifice réservé à cet effet dans une des parois de la piscine,
soit celui de l’écumoire de la piscine.
2. Identifiez les robinets du filtre qui contrôlent les aspirations de
l’eau (retour) de votre piscine. Au cours de l’installation de
votre nettoyeur automatique, vous devez régler les robinets (si
votre système en comporte) qui contrôlent la circulation de
l’eau dans votre pompe et/ou dans votre filtre, de façon que
l’eau soit aspirée par l’orifice que vous aurez choisi.
DÉBALLAGE ET ASSEMBLAGE
DE VOTRE NETTOYEUR
AUTOMATIQUE (REPORTEZ-VOUS
AUX Figures 1 et 2)
Risques de se faire retenir par l’aspiration,
de blessures et de noyade. Si la piscine comporte un orifice
spécifique pour le nettoyage à l’aspirateur, (« vac port ») ou
pour un nettoyeur automatique de piscine, cet orifice devra
être bouché s’il n’est pas utilisé. Un couvercle de sécurité à
ressort (raccord d’orifice de nettoyage à l’aspirateur (« vac
port) ») est livré avec votre nettoyeur. Installez-le sur l’orifice
d’aspiration pour empêcher que les baigneurs soient retenus ou
blessés. Si le couvercle fourni ne s’adapte pas à cet orifice,
achetez-en un adéquat auprès du magasin de piscine local et
installez-le à la place de celui fourni. Le couvercle doit être
conforme à IAPMO SPS4-99A.
1. Ouvrez l’emballage d’expédition de votre nettoyeur automa-
tique et assurez-vous qu’il ne manque pas de pièces.
Veuillez noter que l’ensemble butoir et galet est peut-être
déjà posé sur votre nettoyeur automatique. S’il ne l’ait pas,
posez-le en procédant comme il est indiqué ci-dessous.
2. Si cela n’a pas encore été fait, posez l’ensemble butoir et le
galet sur la partie souple qui dépasse le corps de votre net-
toyeur automatique (reportez-vous à la Figure 1A).
3. Attachez l’ensemble tuyau et écrou sur la partie inférieure
(filetée) de votre nettoyeur automatique (reportez-vous à la
Figure 2A).
Posez tout d’abord la bague sur l’ensemble butoir et galet, par-
dessus l’extrémité filetée du corps principal, puis vissez
l’ensemble tuyau et écrou comme il est illustré à la Figure 2B.
Une fois l’ensemble tuyau et écrou installé, l’ensemble butoir
et galet ne pourra pas se balancer librement de votre nettoyeur
automatique.
Serrez à la main l’écrou comme si vous serreriez le couvercle
d’un contenant de cuisine; pour procéder à l’entretien péri-
odique de votre nettoyeur automatique, vous devrez occasion-
nellement dévisser l’ensemble tuyau et écrou.
Votre nettoyeur automatique est assemblé!

INSTALLATION DE VOTRE
NETTOYEUR AUTOMATIQUE
1 ° : Branchement des longueurs de tuyau souple
(reportez-vous aux Figures 3 et 4).
Pour obtenir les meilleurs résultats et pour que votre garantie
reste valide, n’utilisez que des longueurs de tuyau souple d’o-
rigine Flotec. Branchez les longueurs de tuyau souple Flotec les
unes dans les autres en raccordant l’embout mâle dans l’em-
bout femelle de la longueur que vous ajoutez (reportez-vous à
la Figure 3). Assurez-vous que les embouts sont ajustés serrés.
Le nombre de longueurs que vous aurez besoin dépendra de la
dimension de votre piscine.
La longueur totale de toutes les longueurs de tuyau souple dont
vous aurez besoin dépendra de la distance :
(a) du point à partir duquel vous brancherez le tuyau souple
dans l’orifice d’aspiration jusqu’au (b) point le plus éloigné de
votre piscine à partir du point (a), plus une longueur de tuyau
souple (reportez-vous à la Figure 4).
2 ° : Branchez l’embout femelle du tuyau souple sur
votre nettoyeur automatique (reportez-vous à la Figure 5).
3 ° : Équilibrage du tuyau souple (Figure 6).
Il se peut (bien que cela ne soit pas obligatoirement nécessaire)
que vous deviez poser des masses d’alourdissement sur le tuyau
souple, et ceci en fonction de la dimension, de la forme et de la
profondeur de votre piscine. Essayez tout d’abord d’utiliser votre
nettoyeur automatique sans y ajouter de masses d’alourdissement
sur le tuyau souple. Si le tuyau souple flotte trop, posez des mass-
es d’alourdissement, comme il est illustré à la Figure 6.
4 ° : Posez le régulateur d’aspiration automatique
(reportez-vous aux Figures 7, 8 et 9).
Avant de poser le régulateur d’aspiration automatique, prenez
quelques minutes pour vous familiariser avec son fonction-
nement. Pendant que votre nettoyeur automatique fonctionne,
le régulateur d’aspiration automatique agit en tant que régula-
teur et en tant que débitmètre afin de fournir les informations
nécessaires concernant la quantité d’eau aspirée par votre net-
toyeur automatique.
• Poussez le manchon extérieur du régulateur d’aspiration
automatique vers l’embout femelle (le plus grand) du régu-
lateur. Notez les ouvertures latérales que vous pourrez alors
voir et la façon dont la base du manchon se déplace par
rapport à la bague jaune, côté embout femelle.

• Pendant que votre nettoyeur automatique fonctionne,
l’aspiration d’eau recommandée dans votre nettoyeur
automatique est indiquée lorsque la base du manchon
coulissant s’aligne avec la partie jaune ou se déplace dans
la cette partie jaune. Si la bague jaune est complètement
recouverte, l’aspiration est peut-être excessive.
• Nous reparlerons de ce sujet sous la rubrique « Pour opti-
miser le rendement de votre nettoyeur automatique ».
Branchez maintenant l’embout femelle du régulateur d’aspira-
tion dans l’embout mâle du tuyau souple.
Pour le moment, mettez de côté le couvercle protecteur du
régulateur d’aspiration.
5 ° : Branchez le tuyau souple et votre nettoyeur
automatique sur le système de filtration (Figure 10).
Arrêtez la pompe du système de filtration de votre piscine.
Plongez votre nettoyeur automatique dans la piscine et laissez-
le tomber au fond. Il entraînera avec lui les longueurs de tuyau
souple sur lesquelles il est branché. Laissez le tuyau souple
tomber dans l’eau jusqu’à ce que tout l’air en soit chassé et
que vous n’ayez plus, dans les mains, que le côté régulateur
d’aspiration automatique branché sur le tuyau souple.
Aspiration dangereuse. Les cheveux ou le
corps peuvent être aspirés et causer la mort ou de graves
blessures. S’assurer que l’orifice de la paroi de la piscine
réservé à l’aspiration est muni d’un couvercle protecteur à
ressort. Avant de brancher le tuyau souple du nettoyeur
automatique dans un orifice d’aspiration de paroi réservé à cet
effet, toujours poser tout d’abord le couvercle protecteur sur
le régulateur d’aspiration, puis brancher l’ensemble tuyau sou-
ple, régulateur d’aspiration automatique et couvercle pro-
tecteur dans l’orifice d’aspiration de la paroi de la piscine
réservé à cet effet. Ceci empêchera que l’on puisse être blessé
par l’aspiration de la pompe de la piscine au cas où le tuyau
souple viendrait à se détacher du régulateur d’aspiration
automatique.

Orifice d’aspiration réservé à cet effet : Repérez le couvercle pro-
tecteur du régulateur d’aspiration automatique que vous avez mis
de côté plus tôt, puis branchez-le sur l’embout mâle du régulateur
d’aspiration (reportez-vous à la Figure 11A). Ceci est important!
Branchez maintenant le régulateur, qui se trouve sur le tuyau sou-
ple, muni de son couvercle protecteur dans la petite longueur de
tuyau souple livrée avec votre nettoyeur automatique. Utilisez
l’adaptateur mâle-mâle pour brancher la petite longueur de
tuyau souple à l’orifice d’aspiration réservé à cet effet (reportez-
vous à la Figure 11B).
Écumoire (Figure 12) : Si vous choisissez de brancher le tuyau sou-
ple dans l’écumoire, enlevez le panier filtre de l’écumoire et
repérez l’ouverture qui se trouve au fond de l’écumoire. (Certaines
écumoires comportent une autre ouverture au fond, laquelle est
munie d’un couvercle amovible. Dans ce cas, fermez le couvercle.)
Faites passer le tuyau souple par l’ouverture de l’écumoire, puis
branchez l’embout mâle du régulateur d’aspiration dans l’ori-
fice d’aspiration principal, comme il est illustré à la Figure 12.
NOTA : Si vous branchez le tuyau souple dans l’écumoire, ne
posez pas le couvercle protecteur du régulateur d’aspiration
que vous avez laissé de côté plus tôt. Branchez le régulateur
d’aspiration directement dans l’orifice d’aspiration. Les gros
débris seront alors aspirés et envoyés dans le panier filtre de la
pompe. Vous pourrez vider ce panier filtre plus tard.
Vérifiez ce qui suit :
• Est-ce que l’extrémité du couvercle protecteur et/ou le régu-
lateur d’aspiration reposent bien fermement dans l’orifice
d’aspiration de l’écumoire? Si non, vous devrez peut-être
enrouler du ruban adhésif isolant autour de l’embout mâle
du régulateur d’aspiration ou bien utiliser le cône d’adapta-
tion livré, comme il est illustré à la Figure 13.
• Si votre piscine comporte une écumoire et un orifice
d’aspiration de paroi permettant d’y brancher un nettoyeur
automatique, vous pourrez habituellement régler le débit
de ces deux aspirations à l’aide des robinets qui sont
habituellement situés près du filtre. Si vous ne pouvez pas
régler l’aspiration et que l’eau est aspirée par les deux ori-
fices, vous pourrez boucher le côté ouvert du régulateur
d’aspiration, introduire ensuite le régulateur d’aspiration
dans le trou qui se trouve au fond de l’écumoire, puis
branchez le tuyau souple du nettoyeur automatique directe-
ment dans l’orifice d’aspiration de la paroi de la piscine
