Safety Information
A Warning identies conditions and procedures that are dangerous to
the user. A Caution identies conditions and procedures that can cause
dameage to the Product or the equipment under test.
 Warning
To prevent electrical shock, re, or personal injury:
• Read all safety information before you use the Product.
• Do not alter the Product and use only as specied, or the
protection supplied by the Product can be compromised.
• Comply with local and national safety codes. Use personal
protective equipment (approved rubber gloves, face protection,
and ame-resistant clothes) to prevent shock and arc blast
injury where hazardous live conductors are exposed.
• Do not exceed the Measurement Category (CAT) rating of the
lowest rated individual component of a Product, probe, or
accessory.
• Before each use, examine the Product. Look for cracks or
missing pieces of the clamp housing or output cable insulation.
Also look for loose or weakened components. Carefully
examine the insulation around the jaws.
• Use caution around bare conductors or bus bars. To prevent
electrical shock, do not touch the conductor.
• Hold the Product behind the tactile barrier.
• Do not touch voltages >30 V ac rms, 42 V ac peak, or 60 V dc.
• Do not use the Product around explosive gas, vapor, or in
damp or wet environments.
• Do not use the Product if it is altered or damaged.
• Do not make connections on hazardous live conductors in
damp or wet environments.
• Limit operation to the specied measurement category, voltage,
or amperage ratings.
Measurement Considerations
Observe the following guidelines when making measurements (see
Table 1):
• Center the conductor inside the Product.
• Make sure the Product is perpendicular to the conductor.
• For optimal reading, make sure the conductor is positioned between
the alignment marks on the jaws of the Product.
• Avoid taking measurements close to other current-carrying
conductors.
Symbols
The table below is a list of symbols used on the Product and in this
document.
Symbol Description
WARNING - RISK OF DANGER. Consult user documentation.
WARNING. HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE. Risk of electric shock.
Consult user documentation.
Double Insulated
Application around and removal from uninsulated hazardous live
conductors is permitted.

Measurement Category III is applicable to test and measuring circuits
connected to the distribution part of the building’s low-voltage MAINS
installation.

Measurement Category IV is applicable to test and measuring
circuits connected at the source of the building’s low-voltage MAINS
installation.
Conforms to European Union directives.
Certied by CSA Group to North American safety standards.

This product complies with the WEEE Directive marking
requirements. The afxed label indicates that you must not discard
this electrical/electronic product in domestic household waste.
Product Category: With reference to the equipment types in the
WEEE Directive Annex I, this product is classed as category 9
“Monitoring and Control Instrumentation” product. Do not dispose of
this product as unsorted municipal waste.
Operation
To use:
1. Connect the clamp cable to the current inputs on the measurement
instrument. The instrument automatically recognizes the clamp and
selects the default range of the instrument for the probe.
2. Make sure the measurement instrument is set to the correct range.
3. Connect the jaws around the conductor to be measured.
 Warning
To prevent electrical shock, re, or personal injury, hold the
Product behind the tactile barrier. See Table 1.

 Warning
To prevent electrical shock, re, or personal injury:
• Before each use, examine the Product. Look for cracks or
missing pieces of the clamp housing or output cable insulation.
Also look for loose or weakened components. Carefully
examine the insulation around the jaws.
• Do not use the Product if it is altered or damaged.
If the Current Clamp does not work or perform properly:
1. Inspect the jaw mating surface for cleanliness. If any foreign material
is present, the jaw will not close properly and measurement errors
will result.
2. Verify that the function selection and range on the measurement
instrument are correct and adjusted to the sensitivity of the Current
Clamp.
Cleaning
Periodically wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Caution
To avoid damaging the Current Clamp, do not use abrasives
or solvents to clean the clamp.
Open the jaws and wipe the magnetic pole pieces with a lightly oiled
cloth. Do not allow rust or corrosion to form on the magnetic core ends.
