2.3 Installation tips
• Make sure that air circulates freely around the device. Air inlet openings are on the sides, and the hot air outlet opening is on the top. Do
not obstruct these openings. The base of Flex Power 2120 also acts as a radiator. It must never be in direct contact with the support without
using the stands.
3. Chassis mounting:
3.1 Mounting on a flat surface
Focal Flex Power 2120 mixer amplifier is factory-fitted with 4 stands. They protect the support surface and prevent the chassis from sliding
accidentally.
For mounting on a 19" rack, four self-adhesive stands are also supplied instead of the factory-fitted stands.
If necessary, provide for the ventila-
tion of the rack. The following instructions must be followed (positioning tips) when choosing the location.

4. Connections
4.1 Sound level remote control (VCA)
3.2 Mounting in a rack
The chassis requires a 2 rack locations.
• Use the brackets and accessories supplied for rack mounting.
• To fix the chassis in the rack, use four screws with washers (not supplied) to avoid scratching the front panel of the brackets.
Note: Preferably choose neoprene washers as they prevent the nuts from becoming loose in case of vibrations or during transport.
Caution: To be able to transport the chassis once mounted in the rack, the rear of the chassis must be supported mechanically in the
rack.
Controller (0-10 V)
• Single VCA to control the right and left channels simultaneously (mono or stereo mode).
• Controller.
• Dual VCA to control the right and left channels independently.

4.2 Input 1 description
The balanced (mic or line) and unbalanced (line) audio sources can be connected to the MIC/LINE INPUT 1 Euroblock terminals.
The functions are selected on DIPSWITCH 1.
•DIP A: 48V: On/Off. This function is used to connect a static microphone requiring a 48V Phantom power supply.
• DIP B: Mic/Line. This function is used to select the input 1 level for a microphone (MIC) or a music source (LINE) like CD, DVD, MP3,
computer, TUNER, satellite terminal, cassette deck, etc.
• DIP C: Voice Boost speech filter. On/Off: Activating DIP B in Mic mode automatically activates a circuit that filters signals below 180
Hz and above 15 kHz (-6 dB) to give priority to speech. The Voice Boost speech filter can be activated to enhance voice intelligibility (+ 5
dB at 3.7 kHz).
• DIP D: VOX: On/Off. Input 1 can be given priority using the automatic Vox. When a signal is detected, input 1 is given priority and all the
others are cut off (except for the auxiliary input on the front panel). To activate this function, the DIP Switch must be set to ON. The "VOX"
gain potentiometer is used to set the "Priority" input sensitivity.
4.3 Inputs 2, 3 and 4 description

f. Low and high impedance mixed connection
Flex Power 2120 is capable of simultaneously feeding a low impedance enclosure (4Ω/8Ω) and a set of high impedance enclosures (25V, 70V
or 100V) on a single channel.
To activate the ZONE 1 amplification output in mixed mode, proceed as follows:
1. Set the "LINE 25/70/100V" switch to ON mode.
2. Connect the loudspeaker cables to the "0V" and "25V" or "70V" or "100V" outputs and simultaneously to the "4Ω/8Ω" and
" " outputs of the SPEAKER ZONE 1 (Left) Euroblock terminal. Make sure the polarity of the enclosures is correct: the "25/70/100V" ter-
minal is the positive pole to be connected to the enclosure's "+" (red) connector, the negative "0V" terminal to the "-" (black) connector.
The negative "0V" terminal to the "-" (black) connector. The "4Ω/8Ω" terminal is the positive pole to be connected to the enclosure's "+" (red)
connector, the negative " " terminal to the "-" (black) connector.
3. Repeat this operation for the "LINE 25/70/100V" switch and the SPEAKER ZONE 1 (Right) Euroblock terminal.

4.7 STANDBY REMOTE connection (standby control)
Astandby control can be activated using a dry contact (switch) connected to the STANDBY REMOTE input. This is a safety function to cut off
the public address system in the event of an emergency or for putting the system automatically on standby, when connected to a timer (power-
saving mode with consumption lower than 2 W in standby mode).

5. Setting procedure
5.1 Output level setting
1- Set the Left and Right potentiometers on the front panel to the maximum position to take full advantage of the amplifier's dynamic range.
This control can be used when the sound level is intentionally limited by the installer. The overall sound level can be modulated using the
VCA (remote volume control).
2- Flex Power 2120 has a sufficient power reserve for the amber LEDs to flash briefly.
3- If the LED remains amber too often, the limiter comes into action, and the sound can then deteriorate.
5.2 Input level setting (input 1 to 4)
Flex Power 2120 is equipped with a line preamp and a mic preamp with a wide dynamic range that must be adjusted independently.
1- Connect a standard source (like CD) and choose a high dynamic range.
2- Set the input volume (Level) on the facade of each input as desired. The LED can turn amber briefly on a very high peak level. If the LED is
regularly red (risk of saturation and sound deterioration), decrease the volume.
3- If a microphone is used, connect it to the dedicated inputs (mic).
4- Position the microphone.
5- Set the mic input sensitivity (mic gain) at the rear of the device until the desired volume is obtained. Follow the same procedure as in point 2.
5.3 Signal and clipping LEDs: state of inputs 1 to 4
• LED off: no signal or volume at 0.
• LED green or briefly flashing amber: optimal usage range.
• LED amber steady: risk of clipping and distortion. Decrease the volume.
5.4 Vox sensitivity (Input 1) and priority
1- Connect a microphone to input 1.
2- Use the microphone in real configuration: speak normally close to the microphone.
3- Increase the Vox button sensitivity on the rear panel until the Vox priority input is activated while speaking.
4- If the Vox input is activated undesirably, decrease the sensitivity.
5.5 Setting the tone
Flex Power 2120 has Bass/Mid-range/Treble tone controls to adapt the sound according to the acoustics of the room and/or the enclosures,
or according to the type of tone desired.
