SECURITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
ELECTRICAL SECURITY
Check that the current in the mains connection where the machine is to be installed corresponds to the
power supply of the machine.
To avoid damaging the equipment, electrical shocks, fire or physical injury when you connect or disconnect
the equipment from the power supply, pull the plug firmly out of the mains socket holding the plug, never the
cable.
Always do this with dry hands.
Keep the power supply cable far from sources of heat. Do not put heavy objects on top of it or change it.
Clean dust and dirt off the power supply cable regularly.
Do not open the machine; you could get an electric shock.
CAUTION
While installing the machine, make sure it is switched off and unplugged.
Do not open the machine. Touching the internal parts is dangerous and you could receive an electric shock.
The machine must not be splashed or dripped on. Never place recipients with liquid inside on the machine.
Do not place anything inside the machine.
LOCATION
Place the equipment on a horizontal surface with enough space around it to allow ventilation.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive dust.
Do not place the machine near magnetic fields or static electricity.
Do not use surfaces which vibrate or receive impact.
Do not pile machines on top of one another.
VENTILATION
Never block or cover the ventilation slits on the machine.
Do not expose it to direct sunlight or place it near sources of heat.
PERIODS OF INACTIVITY
When the machine is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
If you are using an adapter, take into account that it will continue using electricity even if the machine is
switched off. If it is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
THE ENVIRONMENT
To save energy, switch the machine off when you are not going to use it for a long time. The machine could
contain substances that are harmful to the environment or human health. To minimize the effect of these
substances the machine must be correctly managed and recycled when you decide to dispose of it.
When you dispose of it remember: it cannot be thrown into a conventional rubbish bin.
If it contains or uses batteries, these must be disposed of separately.
The machine (without batteries) must be disposed of correctly. Put it in a container specially intended for the
collection of electronic and electrical appliances, at the dump or hand it over to the dealer when you purchase
similar equipment, so that the dealer can dispose of it correctly (at no added cost).

SIGNIFICANCE OF HE SYMBOLS ON HE MACHINE*
The symbol formed by the expression “Class 1 laser product” written in a rectangle
indicates that visible or invisible laser radiation could be produced. Avoid direct exposure
to the laser.
The symbol formed by a ray of lightening inside a triangle shows that the machine has
connection terminals or a circuit with areas with a current which could cause an electric
shock, even in normal working conditions.
The symbol formed by an exclamation mark in a triangle shows that the instruction manual
must be referred to for information on how the machine works and its use.
The symbol formed by one square inside another square shows that the machine has
double electrical insulation.
The European Community symbol shows that the machine complies with the current
European Union legislation, as well as its transposition to local legislation.
The symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out and over a horizontal line shows that when the
product is disposed of it must be done properly, placing it in a special selective electronic
and electrical equipment container or through a dealer when purchasing a similar product,
at no additional cost. It also shows that the machine was put on the market after 13th
August 2005 (European Community Directive 2002/96/CE of Electrical and Electronic
recycling, and its Spanish equivalent R.D.208/2005).
In accordance with what is set out in the aforementioned decree, FONESTAR is registered
in the RAEE (Registro de Aparatos Eléctricos y Electrónicos) in a special section REI
(Registro de establecimientos Industriales), with the entry number 001851.
The symbol RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) shows that the product has been
designed and manufactured restricting the use of certain dangerous materials (Directive
2011/65/EU on the restriction of certain dangerous substances in electrical and electronic
appliances, and its transferal to the Spanish regulations, R.D.219/2013).
*It is possible that some of these symbols do not appear on the machine.

DESCRIP ION
- 2-channel multizone mixer/preamplifier with 6 output zones.
- Two operating modes: as auxiliary line switching unit with one amplifier per zone or as 100 V line switching
unit with one background music amplifier and another for paging in all zones.
- Message recording/playback with selectable playback mode.
-With the possibility of remote paging through the microphone with zone selector model M-203 (up to 6
microphones with zone selector).
CON ROLS AND FUNC IONS
FRON PANEL
1.- ZONE 1 to ZONE 6: activation or deactivation controls for each of the output zones. If the LED indicator
is alight, it shows that the corresponding zone is active.
2.- APE, CD, UNER: background music input selector, for choosing between the TAPE, CD or TUNER
inputs.
3.- OU PU LEVEL: output signal level LED indicators. For regulating the individual volume controls for the
inputs or the MASTER output volume control so that the level does not exceed the green indicators.
The red LED indicators show saturation or a distorted signal that could damage the amplifier or speakers.
4.- POWER: LED power indicator.
5.- MIC: integrated microphone for recording messages.
6.- AC IVE: LED indicator that lights up if the recording module and message playback are operational.
7.- PLAY: for playing the selected message using the PLAY MESSAGE contact closure on the back panel.
8.- S OP: for stopping recording or the playback of internal messages.
9.- REC: for recording the message through the integrated microphone. The message number is selected
with the REC MESSAGE selector on the back panel.
10.- MICRO: volume control for the MICRO microphone input.
11.- MUSIC: TAPE, CD or TUNER auxiliary audio input volume control.
12.- REBLE: for strengthening or weakening the treble frequencies ±5 dB.
13.- BASS: for strengthening or weakening the bass frequencies ±5 dB.
14.- MAS ER: master output volume control.
15.- ON/OFF: amplifier on/off switch.

BACK PANEL
1.- AC socket: for connecting the AC power supply cable.
2.- IN COM ZONE: background music line signal or background music amplifier input.
3.- RELAY ZONE CONSOL OU : output control relays. During message sending from the remote microphone
M-203, a voltage of 24 V DC is activated between the negative terminal and the active zones (1 to 6).
4.- MIX MUSIC-PAGE OU : joint background music and paging line output.
5.- MUSIC OU : background music line output.
6.- PAGE OU : line output for paging from the remote microphone model M-203.
7.- PLAY MESSAGE: message playback selector. It short-circuits the COM and Nº 1 terminals to select pre-
recorded message number 1 or the COM and Nº 2 terminals to select pre-recorded message number
2. Press the PLAY key to start playback.
The messages will only be played through the PAGE OUT paging output.
8.- REC MESSAGE: selector for the message to be recorded. Allowing you to select the message that is
going to be recorded by the message recorder on the front of the system.
9.- MESSAGE 1 IME/CON INUOUS: message reproduction mode selector: once or continuously (until
the STOP button is pressed).
10.- ALARM/NORMAL: message playback zone selector. In NORMAL mode the message is only transmitted
through the active zones. In ALARM mode the message is transmitted through all zones at maximum
volume although they are deactivated.
11.- MESSAGE VOL. REC: message recording volume control.
12.- MESSAGE VOL. PLAY: message playback volume control.
13.- PHAN OM: 48V phantom power supply switch. This switch has two positions:
a. PHAN OM +48V: in this position, an electret condenser microphone that needs 48 V phantom power
supply can be connected to the MIC. input.
b. MIC: in this position, a 30 – 600 Ω dynamic low impedance microphone that does not need phantom
power supply can be connected to the MICRO input.
14.- VOLUME CHIME: chime volume control.
15.- PRIORI Y: priority terminals. By closing these contacts the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER) level
is weakened and the chimes are activated. Microphone paging and message playback have priority.
16.- OPEN RELAY IN: paging line signal or paging amplifier input.
17.- ZONE 1-6 OU : zones 1 to 6 outputs. For connecting the corresponding speakers or amplifiers to each
zone. Euroblock connectors.
18.- UNER/CD/ APE: signal source inputs, 2 x RCA connectors, to be selected with the TUNER/CD/TAPE
control on the front panel.
19.- MICRO: microphone input with XLR connector. It accepts balanced and unbalanced 30 – 600 Ω
microphone signals and balanced electret condenser microphones that need 48 V phantom power,
present in pins 2 and 3 of the XLR connector.
The microphone connected to the MICRO input will only be sent to the active zones through the MIX
MUSIC-PAGE OUT output.
In the switching unit in 100 V line of the system setup the microphone audio is transmitted through the
background music amplifier.
CAU ION: when you connect or disconnect an unbalanced microphone, the switch needs to be in the

MIC position. If the switch is in the PHANTOM position it could cause damage in the microphones.
When you use microphones that do not need phantom power supply, make sure that the switch is in the
MIC position, as the voltage in pins 2 and 3 of the XLR connector can damage the microphones.
20.- MICRO GAIN: gain control for the MICRO input.
21.- CONSOL GAIN: gain control for the remote microphone model M-203.
22.- CONSOL VOLUME: volume control for the remote microphone model M-203.
23.- CONSOL: input connector for the microphone with zone selector model M-203, R -45 connector. The
microphone model M-203 input is only sent through the PAGE OUT paging output. A maximum of 6
microphones model M-203 can be used.
INS RUC IONS FOR USE
CONNEC ION OF HE M-203 MICROPHONE
A control cable type Cat. 5 is used to connect the microphone model M-203. This cable is connected to the
CONSOL output on the MXZ-2036 mixer and to the LINE IN input on the first M-203 microphone. In the case
of needing more than one microphone, these are connected in cascade from the LINK OUT output on the first
to the LINE IN on the second and so on consecutively.
CHIMES
Chimes can be used in two ways:
-Chimes can be reproduced remotely through the microphone model M-203. Select the zone or zones where
you want to send the announcement with the ZONE 1 to 6 buttons. Then, press the TALK button that will
activate the chimes and open the microphone to give the announcement in the selected zones.
-In order to reproduce chimes from the amplifier, they must be activated on the back panel using the
PRIORITY contact closure. By closing these contacts the chimes are activated and the level of the auxiliary
input (TAPE, CD or TUNER) is weakened in the selected zones. These inputs will continue to be weakened
while the contacts are closed.
PRIORI Y IN HE INPU S
The priority function automatically weakens the input levels with less priority so that the announcement or
message transmitted by those with more priority can be clearly heard.
The input signal for microphone M-203 has maximum priority over the rest of the inputs and is activated
when the TALK button on the microphone is pressed. When priority is activated, the MICRO inputs, messages
1 or 2 and the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER) are automatically weakened so that the message can be
heard clearly.
Message 3 is found in the next priority level, and is activated by pressing the ALARM button on the M-203
microphone for approximately two seconds. This input has priority over the MICRO inputs, messages 1 or 2
and the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER), which will stay weakened while the message is active or the
PRIORITY contact closure is closed.
The following priority level is formed by the PRIORITY contact closure (which activates the chimes) and
messages 1 or 2. These inputs have priority over the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER) which will stay
weakened while the message is active or the PRIORITY contact closure is closed.
MESSAGE PLAYBACK
In order to reproduce messages 1 or 2 select the message that you want to play on the back panel using
contact closure. Then press the PLAY MESSAGE button on the front panel to play it and the STOP button if
you want to stop playback.
Note: For message playback the NORMAL/ALARM selector must be in ALARM mode.
To play message 3 keep the ALARM button on the M-203 model microphone pressed down for 2 seconds.
The message is only transmitted in the selected zones if the mixer is set in NORMAL mode, or ALARM mode
is set in all zones. The message will be played continuously until the ALARM button is pressed.

CONNEC ION
Make the connections with the amplifier and all the system components switched off and disconnected from
the power supply.
The system can operate as an auxiliary line switching unit, which would require one amplifier per zone, or as
a 100 V line switching unit, with one amplifier for background music and another for paging.
Once the connections have been made according to your needs, connect the system to the mains and switch
it on. After use, do not forget to switch it off and disconnect the system from the mains.
EXAMPLE OF CONNEC ION AS 100 V LINE SWI CHING UNI
In this setup an amplifier is needed for background music and another for paging. The power of each amplifier
must be equal to the power of the set of speakers installed in all the zones.

This product has been tested and has passed the corresponding quality control prior to being put on the market.
FONES AR guarantees the suitability of the product for its specified use during a period of 2 years from the delivery date and commits itself
to repair or substitute the goods as expressed in the Spanish law ‘La Ley General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real
Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre.
The lack of conformity in the first six months after purchase, due to a manufacturing defect, will be rectified with no more than showing the
proof of purchase. After six months FONES AR reserves the right to demand proof of the product being sold with that problem.
This warranty does not include damage produced by: inappropriate use or negligence, accidents, worn out parts due to use, breakages,
burns, spilt liquids or other substances, excessive humidity, battery deterioration and internal manipulation of the device, the software or its
components by unauthorized persons, and in general any use that is unrelated to the nature and purpose of the product.
If any service is needed during the warranty period because of lack of conformity, please contact the business or distributor where the
product was purchased in no more than 2 months after being conscious of the problem. It is only necessary to contact FONES AR if it is
impossible or imposes an undue burden for them to solve it.
To benefit from this warranty it is necessary to show the proof of purchase with the date clearly visible, with no corrections or crossing out.
This document adds information, and never decreases the consumers’ rights, which in all cases are protected by the Spanish law ‘La Ley
General para la Defensa de los Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre.
