DESCRIPTION
Model MI-21 is an impedance meter with a test frequency of 1 kHz. It has the function to calculate the minimun
power needed by an amplifier in order to determine the measured impedance.
Loudspeaker systems can be checked and measurements in 70 and 100 V loudspeaker lines can be made.
With 3 meter scales: 200 Ω, 2 kΩ and 20 kΩ. Easy to read LCD display.

1.- LCD display.
2.- Z-W: button for alternating between the value of the measured impedance (Z) and the estimated power
equivalent (W).
3.- Selector for the desired full scale for the impedance measurement. 2 OFF positions are also
incorporated.
4.- 100 V/70 V: button for changing the impedance calculation parameters depending on whether it is
measured in 70 or 100 V line.
5.- COM: common terminal.
6.- Ω: positive measurement terminal.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
To measure the impedance in a loudspeaker or speaker line, the steps below must be followed:
- Connect the measuring cables in the banana plugs, place the red probe in the positive terminal (Ω) and
the black probe in the negative terminal (COM).
- Place the positive and negative terminals from the impedance meter in the connection terminals on the
loudspeaker or the speaker line that you want to measure. The result will appear on the display.
- Switch the MI-21 impedance meter on using the circular switch on the front panel, move it to one of the
3 possible positions: 200 Ω, 2 kΩ or 20 kΩ.
- Check that the Z-W selector is in the Z position to measure impedance.
Note: it is recommended the highest full scale (20 kΩ) be used and, if the measurement is not very
precise, lower the full scale to get a more precise measurement.
- To show the value of the estimated power with the current measurement, press the Z-W button.
Press it again to go back to the impedance measurement. Select 100 V/70 V depending on the type of
speaker line you are going to measure.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When a message appears on the display showing low batteries, it is recommendable to replace them. Follow
the steps below:
- Move the selector on the front panel to the OFF position and disconnect the cables used for measuring.
- Unscrew the case on the back panel of the impedance meter and replace the 9 V battery with a new one.
