1 For your safety
PostBase Dynamic Scale is a dynamic scale for the PostBase Vision franking ma-
chine. The Dynamic Scale complies with the pertinent safety regulations for office in-
formation equipment.
For your own safety, please observe the following instructions:
General safety tips
• For safe handling of the franking system, carefully read the safety instructions and
warnings in the manuals for your franking system before installing and using the
Dynamic Scale. Make sure you have understood all instructions.
• Do not use attached parts like the hood as ‘handles’ during transport. The best way
to handle the components is to hold them at the lower part of the housing on both
sides.
• The Dynamic Scale is intended exclusively for operation with the PostBase Vision
franking machine. It is not permissible to operate the Dynamic Scale without the
PostBase Vision franking machine.
Prevention of electrical hazards
• Operate the Dynamic Scale only on a grounded single-phase power outlet. Make
sure your office power supply conforms to the power requirements indicated on the
type plate.
• Be extremely careful when handling liquids.
Prevention of mechanical hazards during operation
• Keep long hair, fingers, loose clothing pieces, neck ties, scarves, jewelry and the
like away from moving machine parts.
• Do not touch the moving transport elements (conveyor belts) when letter transport
is in progress. Do not attempt to block these.

Functions The franking system with Dynamic Scale supports all
functions available in the basic version, and also ena-
bles you to process mixed letter mail from a stack.
Dynamic weighing and franking In order to process your mixed letter mail, activate
dynamic weighing when selecting the product from the
product calculation menu – easily, without entering any
further settings for the Dynamic Scale.
Place the letter stack on the Ramp plus, the Feeder plus
separates the mail pieces from the stack, moistens and
seals the envelope flaps (if the sealing function is acti-
vated) and transfers them to the Dynamic Scale.
The Dynamic Scale (suitable for mail pieces up to 1 kg /
2 lb) determines the format and weight of each mail
piece during transport from the Feeder plus to the frank-
ing machine, and transfers both values to the franking
machine. On the basis of the set mailing data and the
current weight and format information from the Dynamic
Scale, the PostBase Vision sets the corresponding
postage for franking.
With products for which no dynamic weighing is availa-
ble, use the static scale integrated in the franking
machine or enter the weight by hand.
Equipment / options For information on the equipment variants and options
available in your country, please read the Reference
Guide of your PostBase Vision.
The ‘differential weighing’ option is not available for the
PostBase Vision franking system with Dynamic Scale.

4.2 Setting a product for dynamic weighing
• Tap the postage button in the Home
screen.
PostBase Vision opens the Product Calcula-
tion menu and requests all necessary infor-
mation on the mail piece in turn.
• Tap each of the desired settings.
For products where dynamic weighing is
available, PostBase Vision will open a setting
menu during the course of the product set-
tings, for selecting the scale.
• Select DYNAMIC SCALE, in order to deter-
mine the format and weight for each mail
piece, and calculate the postage.
• If necessary, set further mailing data / addi-
tional data.
• Return to the Home screen by pressing the
CONFIRM buttton.
Note: If, during the course of the product set-
tings, the ‘Scale Selection’ adjustment menu
does not appear, you can only weigh your
mail pieces with the static scale. In this case,
the Dynamic Scale only facilitates the letter
transport.
‘Dynamic’ being displayed in the mailing data
list in the Home screen indicates that
dynamic weighing is active. In place of the
postage, the system displays Auto.
Only once the batch processing has started –
when the Dynamic Scale has determined the
weight and format of a mail piece – does the
postage appear.
