1 FOR YOUR SAFETY
1.1 Intended use
– The cooling unit is intended exclusively for use in enclosed furniture with
ventilation openings to prevent liquids from entering the unit. The cooling
unit must never be used free-standing.
– The cooling unit is intended exclusively for operation indoors.
– The cooling unit is designed exclusively to keep milk and ready-to-drink
beverages cool for the preparation of beverages with a Franke coffee ma-
chine.
– Only use pre-cooled milk and pre-cooled ready-to-drink beverages.
– Remove the milk and ready-to-drink beverages when the cooling unit is
not in use. Store milk and ready-to-drink beverages in a suitable cooling
unit.
– Only use the cooling unit at ambient temperatures of 10–43 °C.
– Use only the recommended cleaners. Other cleaners may leave residues
in the milk and beverage system.
– Please also observe the Declaration of Conformity delivered with the de-
vice.
1.2 Non-authorized use
– Children under the age of 8 years are not permitted
to use the device.
– Children or persons who are challenged with respect
to physical, sensory or mental abilities must not use
the device except under supervision, nor should they
play with the device.

– Alcoholic, flammable, explosive substances or spray cans must not be
used or stored in the device.
– Do not place or use any electrical appliances inside the cooling unit.
– Do not use the machine:
– If you are not familiar with its functions.
– If the machine, power cord or connection lines are damaged.
– If the machine has not been cleaned or filled as specified.
1.3 General safety concerns
WARNING
Risk of fatal injury from electrocution
Damaged power cords, pipes or push-on fittings can lead to electrocution.
a) Do not connect any damaged power cords, pipes or push-on fittings to
the power grid.
b) Replace damaged power cords, pipes or push-on fittings.
If the power cord is permanently assembled, contact the service techni-
cian. If the power cord is not permanently assembled, order and use a
new, original power cord.
c) Ensure that the machine and the power cord are not near any hot sur-
faces such as gas or electric stoves or ovens.
d) Ensure that the power cord is not pinched and does not chafe on sharp
edges.

WARNING
Risk of fire and explosion
R600a refrigerant is highly flammable. If it escapes, it presents a fire and ex-
plosion risk.
a) When transporting and installing the cooling unit, make sure that no part
of the refrigeration circuit is damaged.
b) Installation may only be performed by an authorized Franke specialist.
c) The appliance must be installed in a room with sufficient space.
d) Make sure that the air vents of the appliance and the closed cabinet in
which the appliance is installed are never blocked or obstructed.
e) Maintenance work may be performed by qualified service personnel only.
f) Do not use the appliance if it exhibits any signs of damage.
g) To avoid damaging the refrigeration circuit, do not use mechanical de-
vices or any other means to accelerate the defrosting process.
h) Never use jets of water or harmful substances to clean the cooling unit.
i) Do not expose the cooling unit to sources of heat.
j) In case of malfunction, disconnect the cooling unit from the power sup-
ply.
k) In case of refrigerant leaks, avoid any naked flames. Move anything
flammable away from the appliance and ventilate the room immediately.
l) In case of fire, use powder extinguishers.

WARNING
Risk of fire
If the power cord is electrically overloaded, the heat generated can cause a
fire.
a) Never use power outlet strips or extension cords to connect the device to
the power supply.
CAUTION
Irritation from cleaners
Cleaning tablets, milk system cleaning agents, and descaler can lead to irrita-
tions of the skin or eyes.
a) Observe the hazard warnings on the label of the respective cleaner.
b) Avoid contact with your eyes and skin.
c) Wash your hands after coming into contact with cleaners.
d) Cleaners must not find their way into drinks.
CAUTION
Spoiled milk and ready-to-drink beverages
Spoiled milk and spoiled ready-to-drink beverages could represent a health
hazard.
a) Use only fresh, refrigerated milk and fresh, refrigerated ready-to-drink
beverages.
b) Observe the storage conditions for milk and ready-to-drink beverages.
c) Observe the shelf life of the milk and ready-to-drink beverages used.

CAUTION
Germs in unpasteurized milk
Germs in unpasteurized milk could pose a health hazard.
a) Do not use any unpasteurized milk.
b) Only use pasteurized or long-life milk.

NOTICE
Spoiled milk and ready-to-drink beverages
Insufficient cooling or hygiene can cause milk and ready-to-drink beverages to
spoil.
a) Only use pre-cooled milk and pre-cooled ready-to-drink beverages
(2.0−5.0 °C).
b) Only store milk and ready-to-drink beverages in the cooling unit when the
cooling unit is in operation. When the cooling unit is not in operation, e.g.
overnight, store milk and ready-to-drink beverages in a refrigerator.
c) Clean the machine and cooling unit once a day.
d) Only touch the suction hose, the inside of the container, and the con-
tainer lid after sanitizing your hands, or wear disposable gloves.
e) Place the container lid with the suction hose on a clean surface only.

NOTICE
Damage to the device
Connection lines could be damaged by tensile load.
Moisture entering the device can cause damage.
An unsuitable location can lead to damage.
a) Never pull on the connection lines.
b) Lay the connection lines in such a way that they do not form tripping haz-
ards.
c) Do not use jets of water or steam for cleaning.
d) Do not expose the device to the elements, such as rain, frost or direct
sunlight.
e) Place the device only on a level, stable surface.
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the compressor
If the ambient temperature is too low, the compressor oil may be too viscous,
resulting in the compressor being inadequately lubricated and being damaged
as a result.
a) Make sure that the permissible ambient temperature is maintained. De-
tails pertaining to climate classes can be found on the type plate and in
the technical data.

3 IDENTIFICATION
3.1 Position of type plates

The type plate is located in the center of the right-hand side panel of the cool-
ing chamber.

4.3 Function of the cooling unit
The cooling unit is designed to be installed in a cabinet underneath the coffee
machine and has the following functions:
– Keeping milk and ready-to-drink beverages cool
– Allowing the cooling temperature to be set
– Monitoring the fill level when using Franke containers for milk and ready-
to-drink beverages
4.4 Pump module functions

The pump modules have the following functions:
– Delivering various media, e.g. milk, cold brew coffee, etc.
– Enabling the drinks system to be assembled using a modular construction
– Enabling the CleanMaster to be connected for cleaning
– Switching between media (e.g. switching milks) or, if a Franke container
is empty, generating an "empty" message

4.5 Operation and care
NOTICE
Risk of damage to the compressor
If the ambient temperature is too low, the compressor oil may be too viscous,
resulting in the compressor being inadequately lubricated and being damaged
as a result.
a) Make sure that the permissible ambient temperature is maintained. De-
tails pertaining to climate classes can be found on the type plate and in
the technical data.
Cleaning
Regular cleaning is a prerequisite for the unspoiled, safe enjoyment of drinks.
You can find more detailed information on operating, configuring, cleaning
and caring for your cooling unit in user manual supplied with your coffee ma-
chine. In addition, the separate cleaning instructions describe the cleaning of
the removable components.
Clean the milk/drinks system daily or when prompted by the coffee machine.
Clean the cooling unit and components with warm water and a mild cleaner.
Use a dry cloth for drying or leave to air-dry. Do not use hot air.
Clean daily:
• Interior chamber, inside of the door, tray and lip seal
• Container(s)
• Suction hoses
• Plug-in couplings
4.6 Malfunctions
Error messages will appear on the coffee machine's display in the case of
malfunctions. The error messages contain information regarding the cause
and resolution of the malfunction.

4.7 Transport, storage, decommissioning
– Clean the device
– Secure the device against accidents and do not set it up in an inclined
position
– Use suitable packaging for transport and storage
– Comply with the ambient conditions provided in the technical data

4.8 Disposal
– Observe the information on the label when disposing of any unused
cleaning supplies.
The machine complies with European Directive 2012/19/EU regarding Waste
Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and must not be disposed of with
household waste.
Dispose of electronic parts separately.
Dispose of plastic parts in accordance with their marking.
When decommissioned, the cooling unit must not be disposed of as municipal
waste but has to be separated and taken to a refuse recycling center. This is
indicated by the symbol on the product label.
Use recycling centers that are certified according to applicable regulations.
If not correctly disposed of, the device can be harmful to the environment due
to specific substances it contains. The refrigerant inside the device must not
be allowed to contaminate the environment.
Incorrect or illegal disposal of the product will lead to severe administrative
and/or criminal penalties, as set out in applicable laws.
