Safe Servicing Practices for All Appliances
Avoid personal injury and/or property damage by observing important Safe Servicing Practices.
Following are some limited examples of safe practices:
1. DO NOT attempt a product repair if you have any doubts as to your ability to complete the repair in a safe and satisfactory manner.
2. DO NOT exceed maximum recommended wattage on light bulb replacements. Doing so could blow fuses and/or damage trans-
formers.
3. Before servicing or moving an appliance:
•Remove power cord from the electrical outlet, trip circuit breaker to the OFF position, or remove fuse.
•Turn off water supply if applicable.
•Turn off gas supply if applicable.
4. Never interfere with the proper operation of any safety device.
5. Use ONLY REPLACEMENT PARTS CATALOGED FOR THIS APPLIANCE. Substitutions may defeat compliance with safety
standards set for home appliances.
6. GROUNDING: The standard color coding for safety ground wires is GREEN, or GREEN with YELLOW STRIPES. Ground leads are
not to be used as current carrying conductors. It is EXTREMELY important that the service technician reestablish all safety grounds
prior to completion of service. Failure to do so will create a hazard.
7. Prior to returning the product to service, ensure that:
•All electrical connections are correct and secure.
•All electrical leads are properly dressed and secured away from sharp edges, high-temperature components, or moving parts.
•All non-insulated electrical terminals, connectors, heaters, etc. are adequately spaced away from all metal parts and panels.
•All safety grounds (both internal and external) are correctly and securely connected. All panels are properly and securely reas-
sembled.
•All mounting hardware, mounting brackets, and anti-tip devices are properly installed and engaged.
Service Tips - Develop Good Work Habits
Consistently following a standard routine when servicing appliances will insure that you do not waste time searching for a complex
solution to a simple problem. One of the most common mistakes made by service technicians is failing to verify the incoming power
supply to the appliance.
Many times electronic controls and other components are replaced unnecessarily because the incoming power supply was not verified.
When testing the electrical supply, the test should be performed at the terminal block where the power cord or house wiring attaches to
the appliance. Verify that there are 240 volts between L1 & L2 and that there is 120 volts from L1 to Neutral and also from L2 to Neutral.
You should also check the power supply while the appliance is operating or “under load”. The power supply may show good with the
product sitting idle but fail when certain components are turned on. This can be caused by a weak connection in the customer’s house
wiring, or a faulty circuit breaker or fuse.
Another common mistake is failure to verify all component part wire harness connections. It is essential that all component connections
are checked visually and with the appropriate circuit tester. Many times components are assumed to be faulty because they do not
operate or there is an error code displayed by the electronic control system. Often the failure is caused by a loose or miswired connec-
tion which can cause the same error code as a defective component part. Newly installed appliances may have loose connections
resulting from shipping and handling conditions or improper installation. Check the wiring connections before you order replacement
parts.
When the repair has been completed, the product should be thoroughly tested to verify that the service corrected the problem and that
all of the other features and functions of the product are in proper working order. The extra time taken to do this will create consumer
confidence in your efficiency and professionalism as well as possibly saving an expensive callback.

Before Servicing
1. Disconnect the power supply cord, and then open the unit.
2. Whenever troubleshooting is performed, the power supply
must be disconnected. It may be necessary to connect the
power supply after the unit is opened, in this event:
•Disconnect the power supply cord and then open the
unit for servicing.
•Ensure that the leads remain isolated from other compo-
nents and the unit chassis by using insulation tape.
•After that, reconnect the power supply cord.
After Testing
1. Disconnect the power supply cord, and then open the unit.
2. Reconnect the leads.
3. Reassemble the unit.
4. Reconnect the power supply cord.
5. Run the unit and check all functions.
After Repairing
1. Reconnect all the leads removed from components during
testing. Reassemble the unit.
2. Reconnect the power supply cord. Run the unit and check all
functions.
3. Before performing servicing procedure, test all the connec-
tions to the component.

disposal of the freezer due to flammable
refrigerant and gas. All refrigeration
products contain refrigerants, which
under the guidelines of federal law must
be removed before disposal. It is the
consumer's responsibility to comply with
federal and local regulations when
disposing of this product.

Grounding Instructions
The refrigerator must be plugged into its own dedicated 115 Volt,
60 Hz., 15 Amp, AC only electrical outlet. The power cord of the
appliance is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for your
protection against electrical shock hazards. It must be plugged
directly into a properly grounded three prong receptacle. The
receptacle must be installed in accordance with local codes and
ordinances. Consult a qualified electrician. Avoid connecting
refrigerator to a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFI) circuit. Do not use
an extension cord or adapter plug.
If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by an autho-
rized service technician to prevent any risk.
•Never unplug the refrigerator by pulling on the power cord.
Always grip the plug firmly, and pull straight out from the
receptacle to prevent damaging the power cord.
•Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning and before replacing
a light bulb to avoid electrical shock.
•Performance may be affected if the voltage varies by 10% or
more. Operating the refrigerator with insufficient power can
damage the compressor. Such damage is not covered under
your warranty.
•Do not plug the unit into an electrical outlet controlled by a
wall switch or pull cord to prevent the refrigerator from being
turned off accidentally.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
The circuit boards and all the wire connectors to be connected
on the boards are ESD sensitive. Take the following precautions
when servicing or handling the circuit boards and wire connec-
tors.

•Use appropriate personal grounding equipment such as wrist
straps.
•Connect the wrist straps properly with the grounding source.
•The parts to be replaced must remain fully enclosed within
ESD packs until assembled.
•Allow only trained or escorted people in the servicing area.
•Visually check all the grounding cords.
•Use shielded packaging for shipping or storing ESD sensitive
items outside the servicing area.
•Handle unpacked ESD sensitive items only when grounded.
•Do not drag test equipment as it might develop ESD.
To move ESD sensitive parts or assemblies inside a servicing
area, use one of the following:
•Static dissipative containers
•Static shielding containers
•Conductive containers or board carriers.

Installation and Commissioning
Handling
1. Move the refrigerator only as shown in below picture, on a
handcart with cushion.
2. Remove all packing materials and bottom cushion, and then
move into the room for placement.
3. After moving the refrigerator into appropriate location, wait
for 2 hours before power on.
Installation Location
Select a location for installation with appropriate ventilation to
facilitate heat dissipation, which helps enhance the performance
of the refrigerator and reduce energy consumption.
Adjustment to Level Door
Use adjusting washers in the hinges under the doors, to make the
heights of the left and right doors equal and consistent.
Levelling of Refrigerator
If the refrigerator cannot be placed steady, adjust the footing to
level it.

Theory of Operation - 3-Way Valve
The 3-way valve regulates refrigerant flow to the fresh-food evap-
orator and the freezer evaporator, to control temperature as per
requirement. It is operated by the main control board. The valve is
composed of a magnetic coil and a valve body.
The 3-way valve coil controls the valve opening and closing
according to the 12 VDC pulses from the main board. It is difficult
to measure this current using a volt meter as it comes too quickly.
The 3-way valve coil has a resistance value of approximately 46
ohms that can be measured between the coil pins.
The valve body contains a cam, rotor and magnet. The rotor and
cam are grooved to rotate with the magnet. Refrigerant flows
through the entire valve body when the compressor is operating.
The pulses of the valve coil cause the magnet to rotate inside the
valve body. As the magnet rotates, it moves the cam at the
bottom of the valve. The cam opens or covers the ports to the
capillary tubes.
Connections
Three copper tubes are connected to the 3-way valve:
1. A tube connecting from the filter drier to the inlet on the valve
2. A capillary tube connecting the fresh-food evaporator and
the valve
3. A capillary tube connecting the freezer evaporator and the
valve.
Testing 3-Way Valve
The valve returns to “home” at the end of every freezer defrost
cycle and whenever the refrigerator is reconnected to power.
To test the valve:
1. Disconnect power from the refrigerator for at least 10
seconds, and reapply power.
2. Place a finger on top of the valve to feel the valve move as it
returns to home position.
If movement is present, the main board and valve coil are
operating correctly.
Theory of Operation - Fan Motor
The speed of the motor is controlled by the program. When the

Inside Fresh-food Compartment
Door Seal
Door seal is installed into the door liner groove.
1. Open the refrigerator door.
2. Hold the door seal and pull out as shown in Figure 1.
Light Assembly
Light inside the fresh-food compartment is located in the ceiling
of the chamber.
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Open the snaps of the lamp cover using a flat-head
screwdriver as shown in Figure 2 and remove the cover.
4. Open the snaps of the LED light using a flat-head
screwdriver as shown in Figure 3 and take the light assembly
out.
5. Disconnect the wire connector and remove the LED light.
Air Duct
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove the crisper support by removing 4 screws as shown
in Figure 4.
NOTE
TO REINSTALL OR REPLACE PARTS,
REVERSE THE REMOVAL PROCEDURES
IN PROPER ORDER.

6. Remove screw cap using a flat-head screwdriver.
7. Remove the screw using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
See Figure 5.
8. Hold the air duct on both sides, as shown in Figure 6 and
pull the air duct out from the fresh-food compartment.
9. Unplug the fan and temperature sensor wires and take the
air duct out from the fresh-food compartment. See Figure 7.
Fan Motor
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove air duct. See section Air Duct.
6. Cut the sealing tape and remove the foil as shown in Figure 8.
7. Remove the upper cover of the air duct, using a flat-head
screwdriver as shown in Figure 8.
8. Remove the 3 screws shown in Figure 9, using a Phillips-
head screwdriver.
9. Take the fan motor out.
NOTE The fresh-food fan has a 2-speed motor. See
Theory of Operation - Fan Motor.

Fresh-food Temperature Sensor
1. Disconnect power and open the fresh-food door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove air duct. See section Air Duct.
6. Remove fan motor. See section Fan Motor.
7. Remove the cover by opening the snaps on all sides. See
Figure 10.
8. Take the temperature sensor out.
Fresh-food Defrost Sensor
The defrost sensor is located on the upper side of the evapo-
rator, on the copper tube leading to the evaporator inlet.
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove air duct. See section Air Duct.
6. Cut the plastic band which fixes the sensor, using a cutting
plier. See Figure 11.
7. Take the defrost sensor out.
Evaporator
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove air duct. See section Air Duct.
6. Separate the defrost sensor from the evaporator. See above
section.
7. Cut the welding on inlet and outlet tubes at the locations
shown in Figure 12.
8. Remove the evaporator.
NOTE
DO NOT BREAK THE WELDING OF THE
EVAPORATOR, IF REMOVING ONLY THE
DEFROST SENSOR.

Deodorizer
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove the refrigerator shelves.
3. Remove the crisper boxes.
4. Remove crisper cover.
5. Remove the crisper support by removing 4 screws as shown
in Figure 4.
6. Release snap using Phillips-head screw driver and remove
deodorizer. See Figure13.
Rollover Beam
1. Disconnect power and open the refrigerator door fully.
2. Remove screws mounting rollover beam using phillips-head
screw driver. See Figure 14.
3. Hold the hinge and gently pull out. See Figure 14.
4. Hold the rollover beam and push it up. See Figure 15.
5. Release the snap using flat-head screw driver on both top
and bottom of the rollover beam. See Figure 15.
6. Mark and disconnect the wires connecting the rollover
beam. See Figure 16.

Inside Freezer Compartment
Freezer Partition
1. Disconnect power and open the freezer door fully.
2. Remove upper drawers, lower drawers, and glass cover.
3. Remove 3 screws using Phillips-head screwdriver as shown
in Figure 17.
4. Push the freezer partition with a little force from the left
freezer compartment to the right freezer compartment as
shown in Figure 17.
5. Pull the freezer partition out.
Air Duct
1. Disconnect power and open the freezer door fully.
2. Remove upper drawers, lower drawers, and glass cover.
3. Remove freezer partition. See section Freezer Partition.
4. Hold the air duct as shown in figure 18. Slightly pull the air
duct.
5. Disconnect the fan and temperature sensor wire connectors.
6. Carefully pull the air duct out from the freezer.
Fan Motor
1. Disconnect power and open the freezer door fully.
2. Remove upper drawers, lower drawers, and glass cover.
3. Remove freezer partition. See section Freezer Partition.
4. Remove air duct. See section Air Duct.
5. Remove one screw in the front of the cover of the freezer air
duct using a Phillips-head screwdriver as shown in Figure 19.
6. Open the snaps on all sides using a flat-head screwdriver
and remove the cover of the freezer air duct. See Figure 20.
NOTE The freezer fan has a 2-speed motor. See
Theory of Operation - Fan Motor.
