SERIE SN
Evaporadores con movimiento de aire por convección natural
o gravedad destinados a cámaras frigoríficas para la conser-
vación de g neros delicados donde se requiera una tempera-
tura y grado higrom trico constante.
Pueden utilizarse hasta temperaturas de cámara de -10ºC
con desescarche el ctrico.
En este Manual se describen todos los pasos necesarios
para una adecuada instalación del evaporador y se describen
las principales operaciones de mantenimiento y limpieza.
Es necesario que el instalador siga los pasos descritos así
como toda la serie de recomendaciones y advertencias que
se dan con el fin de asegurar un óptimo funcionamiento del
evaporador dentro de la instalación de frío.
COLOCACIÓN EN LA CÁMARA
El evaporador se entrega embalado y flejado en una caja de
cartón que incluye la batería evaporadora, una bandeja con
lamas de PVC para recoger el agua condensada en la batería
y un canalón con la conexión del tubo de desagüe.
La gama SN se entrega con todos los elementos ya ensam-
blados en fábrica por lo que el montaje es rápido y sencillo.
¡PRECAUCION!
- E conveniente el u o de guante protectore reglamentario
durante todo el proce o de colocación del evaporador.
- No ujetar la batería por lo colectore , di tribuidore o tubo
de alida, porque e pueden doblar y dañar irrever iblemen-
te la batería.

SERIE SN
Evaporators with gravity or natural convection air movement
designed for preserving delicate products in cold-storage
rooms, specially when constant temperature and humidity
ratio are required.
They may be used at temperatures down to -10ºC with elec-
tric defrosting system.
This Manual explains all the necessary steps for a correct ins-
tallation of the evaporation unit and describes the main pro-
cedures for maintenance and cleaning.
It is necessary for the installer to follow the stated steps as
well as all the advice and recommendations given in order to
ensure an optimal operation of the evaporator within the cold
installation.
PLACING IN THE COLD ROOM
The evaporator is supplied packed inside a strapped cardbo-
ard box that includes the evaporating coil itself, a drip tray
made of PVC strips to collect the water dripping from the coil
and a gutter with a plastic drain pipe connection.
The SN range is delivered with all its components already assem-
bled from workshop, making the installation fast and simple.

bend damaging the coil beyond repair.
1 Retirar la caja de cartón y las maderas de refuerzo.
2 Fijar los cuatro soportes regulables a la altura deseada y
todos en la misma posición para que la batería quede hori-
zontal.
3 Colocar en el techo a las distancias de los anclajes cuatro
espárragos roscados M8 ó M10.
Al final del Manual se dan las dimensiones y pesos de todos los
modelos de la gama. El instalador debe tener en cuenta estos
datos para asegurarse de que la sujeción al techo se hace con
la fijación adecuada.
1 Remove the cardboard box and the wooden slats.
2 Fix the four adaptable brackets at the required height, all in
the same position to be sure the coil remains in a horizontal
position.
3 Fix on the ceiling, at the anchorage distances, four locking
screws M8 or M10.
At the end of this Manual a sheet with dimensions and weight
of all the models can be found. The installer must have in mind
these data to design an appropriate fixation to the ceiling of the
cold room.

7 Si la unidad lleva desescarche el ctrico, dejar una distancia
D hasta la pared al menos igual a L para permitir la sustitu-
ción de las resistencias.
8 Colocar el tubo de desagüe con una ligera caída. Es conve-
niente poner un sifón para evacuar la suciedad.
9 Realizar la instalación frigorífica según el esquema. Los
modelos SN 90 y SN 100 llevan distribuidor de líquido y
son los únicos que requieren ecualizador de presión.
7 If the unit incorporated electric defrost, keep distance D to
the wall at least equal to L to allow the replacement of hea-
ting elements.
8 Place the drain pipe with a slight downward slope. It is advi-
sable to place a siphon to evacuate the dirt.
9 Do the refrigerant installation as per the drawing. The models
SN 90 and SN 100 incorporates a liquid distributor and thus
they require an external pressure equalizer.
4 Elevar la unidad con una carretilla y atornillarla al techo.
5 Fijar los cuatro soportes regulables de la bandeja a la altura
deseada.
6 Dejar la suficiente inclinación en sentido longitudinal y trans-
versal hacia el tubo de desagüe.
4 Lift the unit with a forklift and fix it to the ceiling.
5 Fix the four drip tray adaptable brackets at the desired
height.
6 Leave enough longitudinal and transversal inclination
towards the drain pipe.

Para evitar que como consecuencia de una incorrecta realiza-
ción de las conexiones la batería resulte dañada es necesario
tener en cuenta las siguientes recomendaciones:
¡PRECAUCION!
- En todo el proce o de realización de la conexione frigorífi-
ca , no forzar el colector ni el di tribuidor obligándolo a un
de plazamiento de u po ición original que pueda doblar lo
tubo y provocar fuga o deterioro en la oldadura .
- No aportar exce ivo calor al oldar y no dirigir la llama del
oplete hacia el evaporador para no dañar o debilitar la ol-
dadura exi tente en e a zona, provocándo la aparición de
fuga inmediata o futura .
- Evitar a toda co ta la pre encia de humedad en el interior de
la tubería , la cual e perjudicial para todo lo elemento
de la in talación de frío. Hay que utilizar filtro ecadore
adecuado para eliminarla totalmente.
In order to avoid damage to the coil due to an incorrect installing,
thus running the risk of causing refrigerant leaks, it is imperative
to take into account the following recommendations:
WARNING!
- Throughout the connection proce it i important not to
force either the coil connection , header or liquid di tributor
an move them from their original po ition, a they might bend
and cau e leak or deteriorate the welding joint .
- Do not apply exce ive heat while welding and never point
the torch flame directly to the coil o a not to weaken or
damage the exi ting weld in thi area.
- Avoid at all co t the pre ence of humidity in ide the piping,
a it i harmful for all the element on the refrigeration in ta-
llation. To remove it completely, u e proper dry filter .

REFRIGERANT CONNECTIONS
IMPORTANT!
The evaporator is supplied with pressured dry air inside the
coil. In case there were no air inside, DO NOT CONTINUE
WITH THE INSTALLATION! and get in contact with the
Technical Service of FRIMETAL.
The SN series can have liquid distributor and header (models
SN 90 and SN 100), inlet and outlet connecting pipes or two
headers (models for glycol water as refrigerant). The way of
doing the refrigerant connections by means of an autogenous
welding is the same for all the cases.
1 Unscrew the stopper and the valve core placed on the hea-
der or on the outlet tube to let all the air out. Replace them
afterwards.
2Cut the butt end the inlet and outlet tubes with a pipe cutter.
3 Weld the coil inlet and outlet tubes by means of an autoge-
nous welding of propane and oxygen with a welding rod of
copper, phosphorus and silver alloy and placing a damp
cloth between the welding and the coil to avoid the trans-
mission of heat towards it.
4 When placing the expansion valve, follow up the recomend-
tions given by the manufacturer of the valve.
CONEXIONES FRIGORÍFICAS
¡IMPORTANTE!
El evaporador se suministra con aire seco a presión en el inte-
rior de la batería. Si no hubiera aire en el interior, ¡NO CONTI-
NUAR CON LA INSTALACIÓN! y ponerse en contacto con el
Servicio T cnico de FRIMETAL.
Los SN pueden llevar colector y distribuidor (modelos SN 90 y
SN 100), un tubo de entrada y otro de salida o dos colectores
(modelos con agua glicolada como refrigerante). El procedi-
miento para realizar la conexión frigorífica mediante soldadura
autógena es semejante en todos ellos.
1 Quitar el tapón y el obús de la válvula situada en el colector
o en el tubo de salida y sacar todo el aire del interior.
Volverlos a colocar posteriormente.
2Cortar el extremo de las salidas con un cortatubos.
3 Soldar los tubos de entrada y salida de la batería mediante
soldadura autógena de propano y oxígeno con varilla de
aportación de cobre, fósforo y plata, colocando un trapo
húmedo entre la soldadura y la batería, para evitar la trans-
misión del calor hacia la misma.
4 Al colocar la válvula de expansión, seguir las recomenda-
ciones del fabricante de la misma.

DESCONGELACIÓN ELÉCTRICA (1)
(1) SOLO PARA MODELOS CON ESTA OPCIÓN
Las resistencias son de 230V. En caso de tener línea trifásica
de 400V, se deberán conectar en estrella Y, cuyo diagrama se
adjunta.
La descongelación el ctrica incorpora los siguientes elemen-
tos:
1 Resistencias blindadas en acero inoxidable con los extremos
vulcanizados, introducidas por la parte inferior de la batería.
2 Caja de conexiones a la que van conectadas las resisten-
cias con protección IP-55 situada al mismo lado al que van
las conexiones frigoríficas.
Para sustituir una resistencia, proceder como se explica a con-
tinuación:
3 Quitar la tapa de la caja de conexiones, desconectar de la
regleta los cables de la resistencia a cambiar y sacarlos de
la caja.
4 Empalmar un cable de una longitud algo mayor que la del
evaporador en cada extremo de la resistencia. Esta acción
no es indispensable, pero ayudará posteriormente a la intro-
ducción de la nueva resistencia.
5 Extraer la resistencia por el lado opuesto de la batería.
6 Cortar los cables por el empalme mediante una herramien-
ta de corte, retirar la resistencia vieja y unir los cables a los
extremos de la nueva resistencia. Introducir la nueva resis-
tencia en la batería a la vez que se tira de los cables por el
extremo opuesto.
Una vez que la resistencia queda introducida en la batería, se
quitan los cables empalmados y se conecta en el terminal de
la misma manera que estaba la antigua.
Para terminar, aplicar masilla o silicona a los prensaestopas
para asegurar la estanqueidad de la caja de conexiones.
ELECTRIC DEFROSTING (1)
(1) ONLY FOR MODELS WITH THIS OPTION
The heating elements operate at 230V. In case there is a stan-
dard current line of 400V three phase, they must be connected
in Star Y, as on the diagram below.
The electric defrosting system incorporates the following
parts:
1 Heating elements encased in stainless steel tubes with
both ends vulcanised, inserted at the bottom of the coil.
2 Junction box with IP-55 protection to which all the heaters
are connected. It is placed at the end side of the coil where
the refrigerant connections are situated.
The steps for the replacement of a heating element are the
following:
3 Remove the junction box lid, disconnect from the terminal
strip the wires of the heater to be retired and pull them out
of the box.
4 At both ends of the heater attach a wire a bit longer than the
length of the evaporator. This action is not essential but it
will help afterwards to introduce the new heater inside the
coil.
5 Take out the heater pulling at the opposite end of the coil.
6 Cut the extended wires through the knot by means of a
pair of scissors or other cutting tool, put aside the old hea-
ter and tie the wires to the ends of the new heater.
Introduce the new heater in the coil and at the same time
pull from the wires at the opposite side.
Once the heater is introduced in the coil, cut and retire the
extended wires and make the connection on the terminal strip
in the same position than the old heater.
It is advisable to seal the packing glands with putty or silicone
to ensure total waterproofing on the junction box.

LIMPIEZA
Para la limpieza utilizar agua y un detergente o desengrasante
muy diluido que no sea abrasivo para la pintura ni ataque a los
materiales utilizados en el evaporador.
La bandeja y canalón pueden limpiarse con un trapo o espon-
ja humedecida mientras que la batería se debe limpiar median-
te un chorro a presión aplicado por la zona de las aletas y pro-
curando que el agua penetre en el interior de la batería todo lo
posible para que la eficacia de la limpieza sea máxima. Evitar
dirigir chorros de agua hacia las cajas de conexiones el ctri-
cas, en los modelos que las lleven.
Es importante que las lamas de PVC de la bandeja est n limpias,
tanto por higiene como para facilitar la evacuación del agua con-
densada de la batería y evitar estancamientos de la misma.
MANTENIMIENTO GENERAL
Verificar periódicamente que todos los tornillos y remaches uti-
lizados est n bien apretados y en buen estado, así como los
anclajes al techo, los cuatro soportes que sujetan la bandeja a
la batería y los dos soportes que sujetan el canalón a la bande-
ja recogegotas. Reapretarlos o cambiarlos en caso contrario.
En los modelos con desescarche el ctrico, comprobar que
est n bien conectados y apretados los cables en la regleta de
la caja de conexiones. En caso contrario, reapretarlos o susti-
tuir los conectores tipo “faston” por otros nuevos.
Verificar tambi n que las cajas no est n rotas o deterioradas y
que los prensaestopas sean estancos, impidiendo la entrada
de agua a la caja. Si fuera necesario, reapretarlos o sustituirlos
y sellar con masilla o silicona.
ADVERTENCIAS
El evaporador es sólo un elemento en una instalación comple-
ta de frío y su funcionamiento se controla externamente. Es
responsabilidad del instalador el colocar los controles necesa-
rios que impidan que el aparato pueda funcionar fuera de los
límites de presión y temperatura especificados en su placa de
características. Una instalación o utilización del evaporador
que no se ajuste en su totalidad a dichos límites o a lo especi-
ficado en este Manual supone una automática anulación de la
garantía concedida por FRIMETAL y la exención de las res-
ponsabilidades que puedan derivarse.
Todas las operaciones de instalación y mantenimiento deben
ser realizadas por personal t cnico cualificado y se ha de tener
en cuenta la normativa vigente.
Es necesario comprobar que las condiciones ambientales
como nivel salino, grado de humedad, presencia de humos u
otros agentes corrosivos así como productos de limpieza o
desinfección que se puedan utilizar no corroan los materiales
que componen el evaporador, fundamentalmente el cobre y
aluminio de la batería. En caso de duda, consultar con el
Departamento T cnico de FRIMETAL las diferentes opciones
que existen en cuanto a tratamientos de protección. En cual-
quier caso, la garantía nunca cubrirá los gastos ocasionados
por problemas de corrosión.

CLEANING
For cleaning, use a soft solution of water and detergent or
grease-remover, not abrasive for the paint and which does
not damage the materials used on the evaporator.
The gutter and drip tray can be cleaned with a wet cloth or
sponge while the coil must be cleaned by means of a water
jet applied on the fins area trying to get the water into the coil
as much as possible to optimize cleaning. Avoid pointing the
water jet to the electric junction boxes.
It is also important to keep clean the PVC strips of the drip
tray both for hygiene and to facilitate the water evacuation,
avoiding the formation of water pools.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Check periodically that all the bolts, nuts and rivets are tight
and in good condition as well as the fixations of the evaporator
to the ceiling, the four brackets that fasten the drip tray to the
coil and the two brackets that support the gutter to the drip
tray. Tighten or replace them when needed.
In the models with electric defrosting, check that the connec-
tions of the wires in the terminal strips inside the junction box
are properly connected and tight. Replace or tighten the faston
terminals when needed.
Check that the junction box is not broken or in bad condition.
Also check the waterproofing of all packing glands and repla-
ce or tighten and seal with putty or silicone if needed.
ADVICE
The evaporator is only one element in a complete cold installa-
tion and its functioning is controlled externally. It is the installe-
r’s responsibility to position the necessary controls to prevent
the evaporator from operating beyond the limits of pressure
and temperature specified on its data plate.
Any installation or use of the unit in conditions that do not
comply entirely with the specifications of this Manual will auto-
matically void the guarantee given by FRIMETAL and the
exemption of the responsibility that may result.
All installation and maintenance operations must be carried out
by qualified technical personnel and abided by current stan-
dards and regulations.
It is necessary to check that the environmental conditions in
the cold room such as salt and humidity level, presence of
ammonia or other corrosive agents as cleaning or disinfecting
products that may be used, do not damage the materials which
the evaporator is made of, mainly copper and aluminum from
the coil. If in doubt, consult the Technical Department of FRI-
METAL about the different options there are as regards protec-
tive treatments. In any case, the guarantee will never cover the
expenses caused by corrosion.
