IMPORTANT NOTE: Please read the instruction manual carefully before operating
the equipment. It is possible to maintain the performance of the splicer &
cleaver for a long time with proper cleaning and maintenance.
This Help Guide refers to the more common problems experienced.

All of the above errors can occur if the electrodes have not been stabilised or
calibrated to the ambient conditions. An electrode stabilisation should be carried out at
the beginning of every splicing session and any time the ambient conditions change.
Note these errors can also be caused if the bres are not prepared correctly.

If you are seeing this error – and your bre is clean – then you may have the wrong
splice mode selected, e.g. splicer is set to single mode but you are using multimode
bre. If you are not sure of the bre type then set the splicer to Full Auto.

Clean the sheath clamp pads, v-grooves and v-groove clamps – the bre is probably
breaking when they are clamped onto a small piece of debris.

Swap the standard sheath clamps that are tted to the splicer with the additionally
supplied loose tube sheath clamps. Also make sure that you are stripping the bres
far enough back.

This error message means that the bres are not moving with the sheath
clamps.
The two most probable causes are:
1. The bre is snapping after it has been placed in the unit.
2. The bre is loose tube or pigtail bre type.
The solutions:
By far the most common cause of problems when splicing is dirt. It is good practice
to get into a routine of regularly cleaning the splice area (see “Cleaning before Splice
Operation” in the Quick Reference Guide).
