JA WARNING IIIvlPORTANT SAFETYNOTICE
The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requires the Govemor of California to publish a list of
substances known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to wam
customers of potential exposure to such substances.
The fiberglass insulation in self-clean ovens gives off a very small amount of carbon monoxide during the cleaning cycle.
Exposure can be minimized by venting with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood.

iA WARNING i COOKTOPSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
i Never leave the surface units unattended at medium or i
high heat settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy
spillovers that may catch on fire.
Never leave oil unattended while frying. If allowed to
heat beyond its smoking point, oil may ignite, resulting
in fire that may spread to surrounding cabinets. Use a
deep fat thermometer whenever possible to monitor oil
temperature.
i To avoid oil spillover and fire, use a minimum amount of
oil when shallow pan-frying and avoid cooking frozen
foods with excessive amounts of ice.
Use proper pan size--select cookware having flat
bottoms large enough to cover the surface heating
element. The use of undersized cookware will expose
a portion of the surface unit to direct contact and may
result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of
cookware to surface unit will also improve efficiency.
Only certaintypes of glass,glass/ceramic,earthenware
or other glazed containers are suitablefor cooktop
service;others may break because of the sudden
change in temperature.
To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition of
flammable materials and spillage, the handle of a
container should be turned toward the center of the
range without extending over nearby surface units.
When preparing flaming foods under a hood, turn the
fan on.
If power is lost to an electric cooktop while a surface
unit is ON, the surface unit will turn back ON as soon
as power is restored. Inthe event of power loss, failure
to turn all surface unit knobs to the OFF position may
result in ignition of items on or near the cooktop leading
to serious injury or death.
[A WARNING JRADIANT COOKTOPSAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
(some models)
i Use care when touching the cooktop. The glass surface
of the cooktop will retain heat after the controls have
been turned off.
Do not cook on a broken cooktop. If glass cooktop
should break, cleaning solutions and spillovers
may penetrate the broken cooktop and create a
risk of electric shock. Contact a qualified technician
immediately.
i Avoid scratching the glass cooktop. The cooktop can be
scratched with items such as knives, sharp instruments,
rings or other jewelry and rivets on clothing.
Do not place or store items that can melt or catch fire
on the glass cooktop, even when it is not being used. If
the cooktop is inadvertently turned on, they may ignite.
Heat from the cooktop or oven vent after it is turned off
may cause them to ignite also.
UseCERAMABRYTE® ceramic Cooktop Cleanerand
CERAHABRYTE® Cleaning Padto clean the cooktop.
Wait until the cooktop cools and the indicator light
goes out before cleaning.A wet spongeor cloth on a
hot surface can causesteam burns. Some cleaners
can produce noxiousfumes ifapplied to a hot surface.
NOTE:Sugar spillsare an exception. They should be
scraped off while still hot using anoven mitt and a
scraper.Seethe Cleaningthe glasscooktop section for
detailed instructions.
Read and follow all instructions and warnings on the
cleaning cream label.
[A WARNING ! COIL COOKTOP SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
(some models)
i Do not immerse or soak the removable surface units.
Do not put them in a dishwasher. Do not self-clean the
surface units in an oven. Doing so may cause them to
fail, presenting a burn or fire hazard.
To avoid the possibility of a burn or electric shock, always
be certain that the controls for all surface units are at the
OFF position and all coils are cool before attempting to lift
4 or remove a coil surface unit.
i Be sure the drip pans are not covered and are in place.
Their absence during cooking could damage range
parts and wiring.
i Do not use aluminum foil to line drip pans. Foil can trap
heat or melt, resulting in damage to the product and a
shock or fire hazard.

[A WARNING [OVEN SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
Stand away from the range when opening the oven
door. Hot air or steam which escapes can cause burns
to hands, face and/or eyes.
Keep the oven vent unobstructed.
Keep the oven free from grease buildup. Grease in the
oven may ignite.
Placeoven racks in desiredlocation while oven iscool.
If rack must be movedwhile oven is hot,do notlet pot
holder contact hot heating element in oven.
When using cooking or roasting bags in the oven,
follow the manufacturer's directions.
Pull the oven rack to the stop-lock position when
loading and unloading food from the oven. This helps
prevent burns from touching hot surfaces of the door
and oven walls.
Do not leave items such as paper, cooking utensils or
food in the oven when not in use. Items stored in an
oven can ignite.
Do not use aluminum foil to line the oven bottom. Foil
may trap or reflect heat, leading to a shock or fire
hazard.
[,&WARNING
(Some models) ] SELF-CLEANING OVEN SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS
The self-cleaning feature operates the oven at temperatures high enough to burn away food soils in the oven.
Follow these instructions for safe operation.
Before operating the self-clean cycle, remove pans,
shiny metal oven racks and other utensils from the
oven. Only gray porcelain-coated oven racks may be
left in the oven. Do not use self-clean to clean other
parts, such as drip pans or bowls.
Beforeoperating the self-clean cycle, wipe grease and
food soilsfrom the oven. Excessiveamount of grease
may ignite, leadingto smoke damage to your home.
If the self-cleaning mode malfunctions, turn the oven
off and disconnect the power supply. Have it serviced
by a qualified technician.
Do not clean the door gasket. The door gasket is
essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to
rub, damage or move the gasket.
Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial oven cleaner
or oven liner protective coating of any kind should be
used in or around any part of the oven.

range without extending over nearby surface units.
Always turn the surface units off before removing
cookware.
Do not immerse or soak the removable surface units.
Do not put them in a dishwasher. Do not self-clean the
surface units in the oven.
Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats.
Do not flame foods on the cooktop. If you do flame
foods under the hood, turn the fan on.
To avoid the possibility of a burn or electric shock,
always be certain that the controls for all surface units
are at the OFF position and all coils are cool before
attempting to lift or remove a unit.
Clean the cooktop with caution. If a wet sponge is used
to wipe spills on a hot cooktop, be careful to avoid
steam burns.
Keep an eye on foods being fried at high or medium
high heat settings.
Foods for frying should be as dry as possible. Frost on
frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot
fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan.
Use little fat for effective shallow or deep fat frying.
Filling the pan too full of fat can cause spillovers when
food is added.
If a combination of oils or fats will be used in frying, stir
together before heating, or as fats melt slowly.
Use a deep fat thermometer whenever possible to
prevent overheating fat beyond the smoking point.
Carefully watch for spillovers or overheating of foods
when frying at high or medium high temperatures.
Never try to move a pan of hot fat, especially a deep fat
fryer. Wait until the fat is cool.

iron cookware are slow to absorb heat, but
generally cook evenly at low to medium heat
settings. Steel pans may cook unevenly if not
combined with other metals.
Forbest cooking results, pans should be flat on
the bottom. Hatch the sizeof the saucepan to
the sizeof the surface unit. Thepan should not
extend over the edge of the surface unit more
than 1".
Use only fiat-bottomed woks.
Wok Cooking
We recommend that you use only a fiat-
bottomed wok. Theyare available atyour local
retailstore.
Do not usewoks that have support rings. Use
ofthese types of woks, with or without the ring
in place, can be dangerous.
Placingthe ring overthe surface unit will

NOTE: Foods that spoil easily-such as milk, eggs, fish, stuffings, poultry and pork-should not be allowed to sit for
more than 1hour before or after cooking. Room temperature promotes the growth of harmful bacteria. Be sure that
the oven light is off because heat from the bulb will speed harmful bacteria growth.
The low temperature zone of this range (between 170°F and 200°F) is available to keep hot cooked foods warm.
Food kept in the oven longer than 2 hours at these low temperatures may spoil.

You may find that your new oven cooks differently than the one it replaced. Useyour new oven for afew weeks to become
more familiar with it. If you still think your new oven is too hot or too cold, you can adjust the thermostat yourself.
Do not use thermometers, such as those found in grocery stores, to check the temperature setting of your oven. These

The type of margarine will affect baking performance!
Most recipes for baking have been developed using high fat products such as butter or margarine (80% fat). If you
decrease the fat, the recipe may not give the same results as with a higher fat product.
Recipe failure can result if cakes, pies, pastries, cookies or candies are made with low fat spreads. The lower the fat content
of a spread product, the more noticeable these differences become.
Federalstandards require products labeled "margarine" to contain at least 80% fat byweight. Lowfat spreads,on the other hand,
contain lessfat and more water. The high moisture content ofthese spreads affects the texture and flavor of bakedgoods. Forbest
resultswith your old favorite recipes, usemargarine, butter or stick spreads containing at least 70% vegetable oil.
