Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a water heater that has not been
used for two weeks or more. Hydrogen gas can be explosive under these circumstances.
If the hot water hasnot been usedfor two weeksor more, prevent the possibility of damage or injuryby turning
on all hot water faucets and allowing them to run for several minutes. Dothis before using any electrical
appliance which isconnected to the hot water system.This simple procedure will allow any

WHEN USING THE WASHER
Never reach into the washer while it is moving.
Wait until the machine has completely stopped
before opening the lid.
Donot mix chlorine bleachwith ammonia or acids
such asvinegar and/or rust remover. Mixing
different chemicals can produce a
toxic gaswhich may cause death.
Do not wash or dry articles that have been
cleaned in,washed in,soaked in or spotted with
combustible or explosivesubstances (suchas
wax,oil,paint, gasoline, degreasers,dry-cleaning
solvents,kerosene,etc.).Thesesubstances giveoff
vapors that may ignite or explode. Donot add
these substancesto the wash water. Do not useor
placethese substancesaround your washer or
dryer during operation.
Thelaundry processcan reduce the flame
retardancy of fabrics. Toavoid such a result,
carefully follow the garment manufacturer's
wash and care instructions.
To minimizethe possibilityof electric shock,
unplug this appliance from the power supply
or disconnect the washer at the building's
distribution panel by removing the fuse or
switching off the circuit breaker before attempting
any maintenance or cleaning.
NOTE: Turning the Cycle Selector Knob to an off
position, or pressing PAUSEdoes NOT disconnect

Q:Which cycle isbest for heavily soileditems?
A:Whites or Colors cycleshave the greatest wash intensity.Thiscycleprovides the best overallcleaning. Casuals
should be usedfor wrinkle-free and permanent press items.
Q:How can Ireduce linting?
A:Sortwash loads by fabric type and whether they collect lint (velveteen,corduroy) or produce lint (terry cloth, chenille).
Wash small loadsfor a shorter amount of time.
Q:How much detergent do Iuse?
A: Forbest performance, always follow the detergent manufacturer's instructions on usage. Many detergents are
concentrated, soconsult the product label and follow the clearly marked lineson the detergent measuring cups.

The agitator cap fits into the top of the
agitator. If it accidentally comes off,
simply put it back on.

Separate for cleaning
Cleaning the Fabric Softener Dispenser (onsome models)
_1 Removethe dispenserfrom the top of the agitator.
_] Separatethe dispensercup from the cover bygrasping the top and pushingdown on the
insideof the cup withyour fingers. Dispensercup will pop free from the cover.
r-_] Toclean the dispenser,soak both the dispenser cup and the dispenser cover inthe
following solution:
•1 USgallon (3.8liters)warm water
•1/4 cup (60ml)heavy-duty liquid detergent
•1 cup (240ml)bleach
_]lf necessary,loosenbuildup with a clean,soft cloth after soaking. Donot usea stiff brush;
you may roughen the surface of the dispenser.
r-_ Rinseand reassembledispenser.Placedispenser back on the agitator.

Loading and using the washer.
Always follow fabric manufacturer's care label when laundering. GEAppliances.com
SortingWashLoads
Sort by color (whites,lights,colors),soillevel,
fabric type (sturdy cottons, easy care, delicates)
and whether the fabric produces lint (terry cloth,
chenille)or collects lint (velveteen,corduroy).
ProperUseof Detergent
Add detergent before adding items sothat the
detergent can work effectively. Usingtoo little or too
much detergent isa common cause of laundry
problems.
Forspots, apply pre-treatment to items as
recommended on the product label. Application
should be made in the basket to prevent overspray
which may cause the coloring on the lid or graphics
to fade.
Youcan use lessdetergent ifyou have softwater,
a smaller load or a lightly soiledload.
When using high efficiency or concentrated
detergents, consult the product label to determine
amount required for optimum performance.
Excessivedetergent will negatively impact wash
performance.
LoadingtheWasher
Loaddry items loosely inthe washer basket. When
loading wet items,make sureyou set the load/water
levelhigh enough to allow the items to move freely.
Water levelshouldjust cover the items. Toadd items
after washer has started, lift the lid and submerge
additional items next to the agitator.
•Donot wrap long items likesheetsor pants
around the agitator.
• Donot wash fabrics containing flammable
materials (waxes,cleaningfluids,etc.).
• Washer will not agitate or spin with the lid up,
however the timer will continue to run.
Care and cleaning of the washer.
Wash Basket: Leavethe lid open after washing to
allow moisture to evaporate. Ifyou want to clean
the basket, usea clean soft cloth dampened with
liquid detergent; then rinse.(Donot useharsh or
gritty cleaners.)
Fill Hoses: GErecommends changing the hoses
every 5years.
Exterior'. Immediately wipe off any spills.Wipe
with damp cloth.Try not to hit surface with
sharp objects.
Moving and Storage: Ask the servicetechnician to
remove water from drain pump and hoses.Seethe

information on how to reinstall the shipping rod
to keepthe tub stationary when moving the washer.

Separaci6nde cargas
Separe por color (blancos, claros, colores), nivel de
suciedad, tipo de tela (algodones rOsticos, limpieza
f6cil, delicados) ysi la tela produce pelusa (tela de
toalla, felpilla)o junta pelusa(terciopelo,pana).
Usacorrectodeldetergente
Agregue el detergente antes de colocar lasprendas
para que el detergente pueda funcionar en forma
efectiva. Usar muy poca o mucha cantidad de
detergente esuna causa com0n de problemas de
lavado.
Paratratar manchas, aplique pretratamiento alas
prendasseg0n se recomienda en la etiqueta del
producto. Laaplicaci6n debe realizarseen eltambor
para evitar una pulverizaci6nexcesiva que podria
provocar que loscolores de la tapa o de los gr6ficos
pierdan su intensidad.
