X825 V2.0 is the latest version of X825, updated from X825 V1.5, X825 V1.2 which release at April 1st 2020.
The X825 expansion board provides a complete storage solution for newest Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, it
supports up to 4TB 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drives (HDD) / solid-state drive (SSD). Only 2.5 inch SATA
interface HDD/SDD hard disk is suitable for X825 Board;
You can use X825 V2.0 to DIY your family NAS via RaspNAS or OpenMediaVault etc.
Wiki: https://wiki.geekworm.com/X825_V2.0
Features
1. Supports up to 4TB 2.5-inch SATA hard disk drives (HDD) / solid-state drive (SSD) (Theoretically it can
work with 6TB or 8TB as well. But actually we do not test the X825 board with 6tb or 8tb HDD, you can
have a try.)
2. Ideal storage solution for Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
3. UASP supported by X820 V2.0 for Raspberry Pi 4, NOT support TRIM
4. Use a shorter USB 3 connector to reduce the overall height
5. Use new 4 pieces of test pins to power each other with raspberry pi 4, no additional wire required
6. Blue indicator indicates drive status
7. USB 3.1 Gen1 to SATA 6Gb/s Bridge Controller
8. Since X825 V2.0 use a shorter USB 3 connector, thereby reducing the overall height, so only compatible
with X825-C8 metal case. One X825-C8 case can assembly raspberry pi 4 model b board, X825 V2.0 and

About Power
1. You can power the device via DC JACK of X825 V2.0 or TYPE C of Raspberry pi 4 if you don’t use the
X735.
2. Remove the 4-Pin external switch connector in V2.0, please use the X735 to get the safe software
shutdown & PWM fan control function(only X735 V2.5), and removes the on-board button switch also.
3. X825 V2.0 use a shorter USB 3 connector, thereby reducing the overall height, so only compatible with
X825-C8 case. X825-C8 compatible with Pi 4 & X825 V2.0& X735. The X825-C6 or X825-C7 case only
support X825 V1.5.
4. USB 3.0 high-speed transmission will interfere with the Raspberry Pi's 2.4G WIFI signal,if you find the
2.4G signal is unstable, please try to use Ethernet or WIFI 5G AP. (Please refer to:
https://wiki.geekworm.com/X825#Document)
Power Supply Requirement
Power supply: 5Vdc +/-5% , 4A; DC jack - 5.5x2.5mm

FAQ
Q1: Why system crashes while using USB Boot, and shows drive was removed?
A: Please try to format the HDD/SSD especially when using a new HDD/SSD.
When you find that HDD/SSD is not recognized, please also try formatting the HDD/SSD to check.
Q2: Don't detect HDD/SDD?
A: This is a complicated question, but we can check it from these points. Please refer to How to check the
X825.
The power supply is very important to X825, some low quality power supply will damage your board or not
recognize the HDD/SDD.
Q3: Do I need an external power source supplying for X825 board?
A:
1. When use the X825 V2.0 with X735 and Raspberry Pi 4, you power via DC jack or Type-C or Micro USB of
X735 board. Recommend DC jack or Type-C.
2. When use the X825 V2.0 with Raspberry Pi 4 only, you can power ①Via DC Jack of X825 V2.0②Via
Type-C port of Raspberry Pi 4.
Q4: Does the X825 support USB boot?
A: Please refer to Does the X825/X855 support USB boot.
Q5: Why X825 cannot recognize the HDD when doing big data transfer?
A: This situation do not related with the hardware, please try to check and update the firmware. We have
test continuous copy of data that has exceeded 15GB in windows.
Q6: What is the polarity of the X825 DC 5V in port ?

https://geekworm.com Support: [email protected]
- 11 -
A: For the DC port, the inside the +5V, the outside is GND.
Q7: Why Raspberry Pi freezes when X825 is connected?
A: Please try to format the disk and test again.
Q8: Why Wi-Fi is not available?
A: USB 3.0 devices might generate radio frequency interference that can cause Wi-Fi and other wireless
devices operating in the 2.4GHz band to have issues communicating with your Raspberry Pi4. To avoid
interference on the 2.4GHz band using Wi-Fi, try using the 5GHz band instead. If problem still exists, please
turn off Wi-Fi and use the wired network instead.
