Congratulationson purchasing the SilvershieldPowerManager.
YourSiS-PMorSiS-PMS(hereinafterSiS-PM(S)) isanadvanced surge
protectorwithpowermanagementfeatures.Foursocketsare
individuallymanageablefromthe computervia the USBportinterface.
E.g.canbe switched on/off,bytimerschedule,ortriggered byuser
ordifferent events. Itisalsopossibletopre-programthe unit eventtimer
scheduleand then disconnectthe SiS-PM(S)fromthecomputer
(hardwareschedule)and useitelsewhere.Additionallythehardware
eventschedulewillwork even withthe managing computerswitched off.

•Two(the first and the last)socketsofthe SiS-PM(S) aremarked with
the symbol . Thesetwosocketsareswitched on and off by
meansofthe mainpowerswitchofthe SiS-PM(S) and cannotbe
managed bythe computer.Itissuggested tousethesetwosocketsto
powerup the managing computerand the hardwareschedule

•The manageablesocketsofSiS-PM(S)(markedwithSocket
numbers)can be connectedtoordisconnected fromthe powersupply
depending on the computer’sinitiated orpreprogrammed events.The
currentstatusofeachmanageablesocketisrepresented bythe

•SiS-PM-841 socketscan be controlled byPCand byotherexternal
devicewhichcan supportPM-interface,inparticular–CAS-441-PM,

9. Software installation
a.Insert CD withthe softwareintothe computersCD-ROMdrive;
b.If foranyreason the automaticsetup doesnotwork,then open
the CD-ROMdriveinthe Mycomputerwindowand launchSETUP.EXE
fromthe CD;
c.Followinstructionsofthe installationsoftware;
10 Power Manager Help
The Settingsdialogbox allowsyou tochange settingsforthe
devicesockets.Youmaychoosethe deviceand thesocketfromthe
"Device"and "Socket"drop downlist-boxes.
•Itispossibletonameandassign acertainicon tothe deviceand
socket (forexample“Printer”or“Scanner”) using the "Rename"button.
•Check the "Disabledevicebeeper"checkboxtodisablethe built-in
SiS-PM beeper.

•Check the "Showsocket switchicon"checkboxif you want toput the
icon ofthe socketintothe systemtray.Suchan icon isafastwayto
switchthe deviceconnected tothesocket on/off orcheck itsstatus.
•You can alsoassign ahotkeytoswitchthe socketon/off.Check the
"SwitchON"and "SwitchOFF"checkboxesand specifythe hotkeys.
•Toswitchthe socketon/off on Windowsstartup,check the "On
Windowsstartup"checkboxand choosethe required action.
•Toswitchthe socketon/off on Windowsshutdown,check the "On
Windowsshutdown"checkboxand choosethe requiredaction.
•Check the "When alarmgoeson startapplication"checkboxand
clickthe "Browse"button toselecttheprogramwhichwillbelaunched
whenthe powersupplytothe socketdoesnot matchthe required event
(i.e. the socket must be on, butthereisno powersupplied toityet).
•Check the "When alarmgoesoffstartapplication"checkboxand
clickthe "Browse"button toselectthe program,whichwill be launched
afterthealarmstate(see above)isresolved.
•Tomanage SiS-PM(S)fromthe LANand/orvia Internet, press the
button "Devicesharing...".Adialogbox"Devicesharing"willappear.
Setthe checkbox"Sharethisdevicevia network"ifyouwanttoenable
the network accesstothe device.Topreventunauthorized access to
the SiS-PM(S)enterthe access passwordinthe field"Password".Note:
toletSiS-PM(S) work via the network the port6100 shouldbe open.

Using the Timer schedule dialog boxyou can createthe hardware
timerschedule:
•Toadd anewrecord,clickthe "Add"button.Thedialog"Add entry"
will appear.Inthe dialog box,specifythe required timeintervaland the
action.
•Toedittherecord,selectitand clickthe "Edit"buttonorjustdouble
click onthe entry.
•Toremovethe record,selectitand clickthe"Remove"button.You
can selectmultipleentriesusing Ctrland shiftkeys.You can also
removeallentriesfromthe schedulebyclicking the "Clear"button.
•Torepeatyourevent(forexampleifyou wanttoperform the same
eventseveryday) usethe"Loop"button and specifythe loop time
period inthe "Editloop period"dialog.
•Afterthe schedulerecordhasbeencreated,click the "Apply"button
toapplythe hardwaretimerschedulechanges.Incaseofthe wrong
entries,theywillbehighlightedand anerrormessagewillappear.Click
the "Apply"button againaftercorrecting all the errors.
Hint: Usethe popup menu whichcan be activated byarightmouse
button clickon the table.
The following rulesapplyforcreating acorrect schedule:
