1. Introduction
Congratulationswithyourpurchaseofthis Silvershield Power
Manager.YourSIS-PMSisan advanced surge protectorwithpower
managementfeatures.Foursocketsareindividuallymanageablebythe
computervia USBinterface.
The socketscan be switched on/off byatimerschedule,byuseror
differentevents.It isalsopossibletopre-programtheuniteventtimer
schedule(hardwareschedule)and then disconnectSIS-PMS fromthe
managingcomputer.The devicecan be used asan advanced standby-
killer.
1.1. Features
•The mainrockerswitchenablesswitching allthe socketson and off

via the softwarecontrolwindow
•The unitcan be pre-programmedviahardware-based schedule.The
hardwareschedulewillwork evenwhen the managingcomputeris
switched off

peripheralson everyworking dayat8:50 AM” etc.
•The manageablesocketscan alsobe programmedwith Power
Manager softwaretoreactwheneveracertaineventoccurs
(Windowsorotherprogramsstart-up/shutdown),simpletypical
applicationscouldbe:“switchmyscanneron when Iwanttoscan”
or“switchmy printeroff wheneverI exit Windows”
•Realtime Voltagemonitor providesinformation aboutthe actual
statusofeachmanageablesocket(on oroff).Thisinformation can
be furtherutilized invariousways(e.g.tocheckthe proper
execution of the switching commands)

resourceand can be afterwardsaccessed and managed from
anywherewithinthe local area network orInternet(provided the

2.2. Indicators
•Main rockerswitch Z(see Figure#1 above)islit–thismeansthat
SIS-PMSisconnected tothe powersupplyand active
•Powerindicator (see Figure#1 above)islit–thismeansthatthe
non-manageablesockets(marked withthe sign )are
switched on
•The indicator Socket1(2,3,4) (see Figure#1 above)islit–this
meansthatthisparticularsocketisswitched on
2.3. Audiblesignals
•Long beep –willbe heardafterSIS-PMSissuccessfullyconnected
tothe computerUSBport afterthe self-test
•Shortbeep –willbe heardbyswitching the manageablesocketson
and off
•Continuousbeeps–hardwareevent scheduleislost –forexampleif
the powersupplywascutforalong time.Thesebeepscan be
stopped bypressing the Silencebutton (see Figure#1 above)
•Alarmbeep –willbe heardifthe managing command cannotbe
executed.E.g.ifthereisacommand toswitchthe socketon but
SIS-PMSisdisconnected fromthe powersupply.Thealarmwillbe
heardeverysecond during aminute,afterthatevery8seconds.Let
SIS-PMSexecutethe command (e.g.switchSIS-PMSon)togetrid
of the alarmbeeps

3. Installation
•Itisstronglyrecommended toavoiddamporwetplacesfor
installation.
•SIS-PMSshouldbe connected tothe European ACwall socketof
the standardDIN49 440.
3.1. Getting started
•Connect SIS-PMS tothewall socketfirst and then totheUSB socket
of the manageablecomputerorviceversa.
•SIS-PMScan nowbe switched on and off bymeansofthe Main
rockerswitch(Z).
•Two(the first and the last)socketsof SIS-PMSaremarked withthe
symbol .Thesetwosocketsareswitched on and offby
meansofthe Main rockerswitch(Z) and cannotbe managed bythe
computer–sotheyarecalled non-manageable sockets inthis
manual.
•IfSIS-PMS isswitched on then the red indicatorPOWERislit. In
thiscasebothnon-manageablesocketsarenow live and connected
tothe powersupply.
•The sockets: Socket 1, Socket 2,Socket3and Socket4 can be
managed orpre-programmed bycomputerviaUSB.Theyarecalled
manageable sockets inthismanual.

•The manageablesocketsof SIS-PMScan be programmed tobe on
oroff.Thecurrent statusofeachmanageablesocketisrepresented
bythe corresponding indicatorwhichwillbe litif sockethaspowerto
it.
•Ifthe Main rockerswitch(Z) (see figure#1 above)isturned off then
the manageablesocketscannot be switched on byeither Power
manager softwareorthe hardwareschedule.
•Assoonasyou turnthe Main rockerswitch(Z) onthen the Power
manager softwareorthe hardwareschedulewillbe able toturnthe
manageablesocketson and off.
•Toprotectthe connected devicesfrompossiblehigh current and
short circuitSIS-PMSisequipped withthe automaticcircuitbreaker.
NOTE: Ifthe totalpowerconsumption (orpeakpower) of the devices,
connected toSIS-PMSexceeds2200 Watts,the circuit breakermay
powerSIS-PMSoff.Inthiscase, please, removethe excessiveload first
and then pressthe Circuit breaker button torestorethepowersupply
(see figure#2 above).
3.2. PowerManager installation
•Insert the PowerManager CD intoaPCCD-ROMdrive.
Ifforanyreason the automaticsetup doesnotwork,thenopen CD-ROM
driveinthe MyComputer windowand launchSETUP.EXEfromthe CD
•Followinstructionsofthe installationsoftware

4. PowerManagersoftware
The PowerManager softwareisdesigned tosupportnotonlySIS-
PMS butalsootherproductsofSISfamily.
Afterasuccessfulinstallation asocketiconwillappearinyour
systemtray.
4.1. Managing SIS-PMS
Doubleclick on the socketicon inthe systemtrayorselectOpen
fromthe popup menu (see Figure#3 below).

Doubleclickovereachsocketwill switchiton and off(green color
meansthesocketisswitched off;redcolormeansthesocketisswitched
on).Click the Settingsbutton foreachsockettoaccessthe Settings
dialog box (seeFigure#5 below).

•It ispossibletogiveanametothe deviceand socket(forexample
Printer or Scanner)using the Rename button
•Check the Systemtray checkboxifyouwanttoputthe iconofthe
socketintothesystemtray.You canchoosethe icon fromdrop
down list box.Suchicon isafast waytoswitchthe deviceconnected
tothe socket on/off orcheck the devicestatus
•You can alsoassign ahotkeytoswitchthe socketon/off.Check the
SwitchON and SwitchOFF checkboxesand specifythehot keys
•Toswitchthe socket on/off on Windowsstartup (wakeup), check the
OnWindowsstartup checkboxand choosethe requiredaction
•Toswitchthe socketon/off onthe Windowsshutdown(sleep),check
the OnWindowsshutdown checkboxand choosethe required action

4.2. Setting up thehardwareschedule
Using the Hardwareschedule button availablefromthe Settings
windowyou can createthehardwaretimerschedule(see Figure#6
below). Toadd anewrecord, click the Add button.

•The window Add entry will appear(see Figure#7 below).Inthe
dialog box,specifythe required timeand the action

•Toremovethe record,selectitand clickthe Remove button (see
Figure#6 above).You can select multipleentriesusing Ctrl and Shift
keys.You can alsoremoveallentriesfromthe schedulebyclicking
the Clear button (see Figure#6 above)
•Torepeatyourevent(forexampleifyou wanttoperform thesame
eventseveryday) usethe Loop button (see Figure#6 above)and
specifythe loop timeperiod inthe Editloop period window(see
Figure#9 below)

•Afterthe schedulerecordhasbeen created,click the Apply button
(see Figure#6above)tosavethe hardwaretimerschedulechanges.
Incaseofincorrectentries,thesewillbe highlightedand an error
message willappear.Clickthe Apply buttonagainaftercorrectingall
the errors
•Use Sync button(see Figure#6above)tosynchronizedevicetimer
withPCclock.Notethataftersynchronization pastentrieswill be
removed fromthe schedule
HINT: Usethe popup menu (see Figure#6 above)whichcan be
activated bythe rightmousebutton click overthe table.
The following arethe rulesforcreating acorrect schedule:
•The neweventtimeshouldbe inthe future

•Therecan not be aduplicateentry
•The totalquantityof eventscan not exceed 16 persocket
•The totalquantityofeventsalsodependson the totalexecution
period ofthe schedule
•The intervalbetween the presentand the lastentry cannotexceed
180 days
•Withoutloopthe totalexecution period oftheschedulecannot
exceed 215 days
•Loop period can not exceed 180 days
NOTE: Ifthe deviceispowered offthe hardwarescheduleisstillin
the devicememory and willbe resumed whenthe powersupplyis
restored.Howeverthe wholeschedulewillbe then delayed withthe
powercutoff time.SIS-PMS willthen startbeepingindicating the
hardwarescheduleproblem.Press “Silence”button oncetoturnthe
beepsoff ifyou don’tcareaboutthe accuracyofyourschedule.You
can alsoadjustthe scheduleeliminating the delay.Everytimeyou
pressthe “Silence”button againafterthebeepswereoff,the schedule
willbe adjusted withone minute.Alternativelycreateand upload anew
scheduleusing the ‘Timer schedule’dialogbox.

4.3. Setting up thesoftwareschedule
Using the Softwareschedule button availablefromtheSettings
windowyou can createthe softwaretimerschedule(see Figure#10
below).
NOTE: the softwaretimerschedulewillonlybe executed ifthe
managing computerison and the PowerManagerislaunched.
