FaceCam 1000 TATTOO supports UVC (USB Video Class which can plug
and play in Windows 7/Vista/XP SP2 or Mac 10.4.9 and above without
using a device driver.
1. Make sure your PC OS system is Wi dows 7/Vista/XP SP2 or Mac 10.4.9 a d above.
2. Plug i the FaceCam 1000 TATTOO to a USB port.
3. FaceCam 1000 TATTOO is ow ready for use with a y applicatio . It ca work properly
with a y video chat software that supports a video feature. If you use Mac OS, you ca
use iChat for o li e chatti g.
Image Capture under Windows XP SP2 and Vista:
1. Double-click o the My Computer ico . Or click Start  My Computer
2. Now look for a d double-click o “USB Video Device”, the you ca start to capture still
images.
NOTE
To check if Wi dows XP system is SP2 (Service Pack 2).

will display a dialog box to ask you “Do you
wa t to ope the image from web cam?” Press
“Yes” to ope the image. A y hacker ca ot tur o your webcam because they ca ot
press “Yes”. This keeps your web cam safe.

d. Right-click o a ame i your Messe ger List a d choose “View Webcam”.
e. Your frie d will the receive a i vitatio message. Whe your frie d clicks YES,
the video chat will start.

NOTE
Make sure you already co ected the camera to the computer before ru i g a y video

This simple applicatio makes it easy for you to capture still images a d videos directly from
your webcam. You eve have the optio to shoot a picture of you i which your face is
morphed by the o e i the template you have selected. The program also provides
templates a d layouts for you to customize your photos a d pri t them out or se d them by

Edit Module
Provides fu ctio s for you to e ha ce your captured photos a d videos, a d
save the modified files to your local disk.
Capture Module
O the Capture Preview scree , you ca view live video from the webcam. The Capture tools
display i this sectio let you capture media files.
Full Screen
Display the curre t video or live preview full scree . Press ESC butto to exit full
scree mode.
Setting
Adjust your capture setti gs such as image a d video formats, quality, devices,
umber of photos i burst, etc.
Webcam setting
View a d modify your webcam setti gs/properties. The optio s here will vary
depe di g o your device.
Co sult the device docume tatio for details o the available optio s.
Connect/Disconnect
Co ect or disco ect your camera.
Take Picture
Capture a still image from the webcam.
Burst
Capture multiple images i quick successio . Click the "Setti gs" ico to defi e
the umber of images to capture i each burst.
Snapshot
Click to start the auto-s apshot process with V-sig gesture. If the program
detects the V-sig gesture after taki g a picture with people's face, it will
co ti ue to detect whether there is bli k i the picture or ot. If a bli k exists,
a me tio message will pop up a d ask you to save or ca cel the picture.
Record Video
Begi capturi g video from your camera. The butto will cha ge to "Stop
Recordi g" while capturi g. Click it agai to stop capturi g. The recordi g time
will show at the top of the capture preview sectio .

Record Audio
Click this butto to capture audio from your camera. The butto will cha ge to
"Stop Recordi g" while capturi g. Click it agai to stop capturi g. The recordi g
time will be show at the top of the capture preview wi dow.
Live Annotation
Add a otatio s to the live video. After a otatio s have bee added, you ca
click "Take Picture" to save them as a still image; or you ca also click "Record
Video" before you start to record the e tire a otatio process as a video clip.
Preview Media Files
Lau ch the Photo Viewer or Media Player to view the selected photos or videos
from the curre t album.
Find Target
Go to the locatio where you archive your captured files.

Zoom In

Rotate Left 90
Rotate the active photo 90-degrees cou ter-clockwise.
Rotate Right 90
Rotate the active photo 90-degrees clockwise.
Flip
Create a mirror image of the photo.
Undo
U do the last actio . You ca use this comma d to correct a mistake.
Redo
This comma d reverses the last U do comma d.
Resize
Resize the active photo. A wi dow will appear where you ca type i the values
for photo width a d height, or choose to Keep Aspect Ratio.
Crop
Remove u wa ted area from the image. Use the Crop Tool to defi e a
recta gular or square area. O ce the area is defi ed, the area outside the
selectio will tur dark. Click the Crop butto located u der the Preview area to
apply the crop operatio .
Q1: My computer cannot detect the web camera when connected with an
extended USB cable.
Solutio :
• Co ect the web camera directly to a USB port o your computer. Make sure the
web camera is co ected to the USB port at the back of your computer. Some USB
ports at the fro t of computers may ot supply sufficie t power for your web
camera.
Q2: Insufficient system resources reserved for the USB port, causing the system
to be unable to function.
There are too ma y devices i the system, causi g IRQ problems with the system's USB
co troller.
Do the followi g:
 Remove some USB devices from the system.
 Restart the system.
 The computer reallocates resources.
Q3: The web camera does not light up or the computer restarts for no apparent
reason.
You may have a USB device drawi g too much power from your computer. This ca happe
especially whe co ecti g USB devices to a passive or self-powered USB hub. A USB Hub
Power Exceeded dialog box appears.
Try the followi g:
 Co ect the web camera directly to your computer's USB port.
 Use a USB hub with a exter al power supply.

simply a d easy-to-use program will work with your webcam applicatio s a d video chat
messe gers, allowi g you to apply frames, effects, themes, a d e ha ceme ts to your
video.
This ma ual walks through the program’s mai fu ctio s as well as how to use it together
with webcam applicatio s a d video chat messe gers.

1.1 Start Magic-i Visual Effects
Before lau chi g the program, please make sure a webcam applicatio (such as ArcSoft
WebCam Compa io ™) or a video chat program is lau ched. There are several ways that
you ca lau ch Magic-i Visual Effects:
• Double-click the Magic-i Visual Effects ico o the desktop or right-click the ico a d
select "Open".
• Click Start -> All Programs -> ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effects 2 -> Magic-i Visual Effects

• Double-click the Magic-i Visual Effects ico located i the system tray.
• Right-click the Magic-i Visual Effects ico i the system tray a d select "Launch
Magic-i Visual Effects".


 Note: For more information about the right-click menu, please refer to "Chapter 3
Supplementary Tools".
1.2 Exit Magic-i Visual Effects
• Click the "Close" butto i the upper right-ha d cor er of the applicatio wi dow to
mi imize the program to the system tray. Magic-i Visual Effects co ti ues to ru i
the backgrou d, allowi g you to still preview real-time video effects withi other
applicatio s.

2. Apply Magic-i Visual Effects to Webcam Applications
Before usi g Magic-i Visual Effects, please make sure that:
• A webcam applicatio or video chat messe ger is lau ched.
• The Magic-i Visual Effects is lau ched.
2.1 Before You Start
Before applyi g a y visual effect, you should set releva t parameters for your webcam.
1. Click to go to the Webcam Settings sectio .
2. Drag the slide bars or i put a value to the Value Field to cha ge the setti gs, i cludi g
Bright ess, Co trast, Hue, Saturatio , Sharp ess, Gamma, White Bala ce; or click the
"Auto" butto i each setti g to have the program automatically set the most
calculated value. You ca also select "Mirror Flip" to horizo tally flip the selected
object.
3. You ca also ma age your perso al webcam profiles with the followi g tools:
Current Profile
Select a profile from the profile list to use as curre t webcam setti gs.
Save As
Click this butto a d i put a ame i the dialogue to save the curre t setti gs as a
profile.
Delete
Delete the curre t profile.

Default
Reset all the setti gs to default value.
2.2 Apply Different Visual Effects
Each Magic-i Visual Effects fu ctio (Face Tracki g, Digital Zoom, Filter, Frame,
Theme, Avatar, E ha ce, Masque, etc.) ca be applied to your webcam
applicatio s or video chat messe gers such like Microsoft Wi dows Live Messe ger,
Yahoo Messe ger or Skype.
2.2.1 Face Tracking
Face Tracki g ca e ha ce a camera’s focusi g mecha ism by allowi g it to
effectively recog ize a d track the huma face as it moves arou d the scree .
1. Click to go to the Face Tracki g sectio .
2. Select differe t optio s to e able/disable Face Tracki g.
Off – Disable the Face Tracki g feature.
Single – Use this optio to show a si gle face whe several faces are displayed i the

video sce e. Check this optio a d the program will fi d the first face. To select a
differe t face, simply click the "Next" butto beside.
Multiple – Use this optio whe several faces are displayed i the video sce e. Check
this optio a d the program will fi d the best a gle to display all faces.
2.2.2 3X Digital Zoom
Digital Zoom provides optio s for digital ma ipulatio of your camera.
1. Click to go to the Digital Zoom sectio .
2. Click or to zoom i a d out of the video. Zoom i to get a close-up view of
the video; zoom out to view the e tire video or image.
3. Move the red box to choose the area that displays i the webcam applicatio or video
chat messe ger. You ca :
• Click a d drag to move the red box directly.
• Click the four directio al keys to move the red box.
4. Click to u do all cha ges.


 Note: The digital zoom is control by soft are. The image ill be fuzzy hen you zoom in
is normal.

2.2.3 Filter
You ca select goofy video effects that will give you a few extra laughs while you
chat o li e
1. Click to go to the Filter sectio .
2. Click the effect of your choice to be applied to your video sce e.
3. Click "No Effect" (the first thumb ail) to disable the Filter feature.

2.2.4 Theme
This feature adds a fu backgrou d illustratio to your webcam video. The program
automatically resizes borders a d other theme eleme ts to fit your face.
1. Click to go to the Theme sectio .
2. Select the o e you wa t to apply to your webcam applicatio or video chat messe ger.
3. Click "No Effect" (the first thumb ail) to disable the Theme feature.
2.2.5 Avatar
This feature lets you select a avatar a d make it appear as your "virtual self". The
avatar follows your facial expressio s while you chat.

Use the E ha ce tools to make your video look brighter a d sharper.
1. Click to go to the E ha ce sectio .
2. Place a checkmark behi d the tools you wa t to use a d set releva t parameters.
Noise Reduction – Click a d drag the slider to reduce the oise.
Dynamic Lighting – Click a d drag the slider to adjust the lighti g.
Default – Resume Noise Reductio a d Dy amic Lighti g values to the default setti gs.

Effects
Click the check box to select the modules you wa t. Drag a d drop the module order i the

selected module to the top; click to move it up; click to move it dow ; click to
move the module to bottom; a d click to reset the modules’ availability a d to order by
default.
Private
Click to add a image to the photo tray. Whe the private optio is e abled, the
selected image will be show i stead of the video sce e. Click to remove the
selected image from the photo tray.
Whe ready, click "OK" to save the setti gs; or click "Cancel" at a y time to quit without
savi g.
*Note: The Launch WebCam Companion option only appears if ArcSoft WebCam
