FaceCam 322 supports UVC (USB Video Class) which can plu and play in
Windows 7/Vista/XP SP2 or Mac 10.4.9 and above without usin a device
driver.
1. Make sure your PC OS system is Windows 7/Vista/XP SP2 or Mac 10.4.9 and above.
2. P ug in the FaceCam 322 to a USB port.
3. FaceCam 322 is now ready for use with any app ication. It can work proper y with any
video chat software that supports a video feature. If you use Mac OS, you can use iChat
for on ine chatting.
Ima e Capture under Windows XP SP2 and Vista:
1. Doub e-c ick on the My Computer icon. Or c ick Start  My Computer
2. Now ook for and doub e-c ick on “USB Video Device”, then you can start to capture sti
images.
NOTE
 To check if Windows XP system is SP2 (Service Pack 2).
−C ick on the My Computer icon on your desktop or in the Windows Start menu.
−When the menu appears, c ick Properties.
 If your Windows XP system isn’t SP2 (Service Pack 2), go to the website

This feature prevents any person
tryin to hack into your system and
use your web cam.
1.When you turn on the web cam, the system
wi disp ay a dia og box to ask you “Do you
want to open the image from web cam?” Press
“Yes” to open the image. Any hacker can not turn on your webcam because they can not
press “Yes”. This keeps your web cam safe.
2.Every time when you turn the web cam, the system wi ask again if you want to prevent
any hacker invasion.

a. For ive video function, you’ need MSN Messenger version 6 or ater. If you don’t
have it, refer to the website: http://www.msn.com to down oad.
b. Sign onto MSN Messenger service.
c. Choose a friend on the contact ist and c ick “OK” to confirm.
d. Doub e-c ick on your friends, who are avai ab e to chat. C ick on the webcam icon.
e. Your friend wi then receive an invitation message. When your friend confirms to
ta k, the video chat wi start.

a. Down oad Yahoo Messenger at http://messenger.yahoo.com and finish the
registration, if you don’t have it.
b. Sign onto Yahoo Messenger.
c. From the main window, c ick Too s menu, then se ect “Start My Webcam”.
d. Right-c ick on a name in your Messenger List and choose “View Webcam”.
e. Your friend wi then receive an invitation message. When your friend c icks YES,
the video chat wi start.

This simp e app ication makes it easy for you to capture sti images and videos direct y from
your webcam. You even have the option to shoot a picture of you in which your face is
morphed by the one in the temp ate you have se ected. The program a so provides
temp ates and ayouts for you to customize your photos and print them out or send them by
emai to share with your fami y and friends! WCC4 can record the HD video from webcam
which up to 720p HD 30fps.

Edit Module
Provides functions for you to enhance your captured photos and videos, and
save the modified fi es to your oca disk.
Capture Module
On the Capture Preview screen, you can view ive video from the webcam. The Capture too s
disp ay in this section et you capture media fi es.
Full Screen
Disp ay the current video or ive preview fu screen. Press ESC button to exit fu
screen mode.
Settin
Adjust your capture settings such as image and video formats, qua ity, devices,
number of photos in burst, etc.
Webcam settin
View and modify your webcam settings/properties. The options here wi vary
depending on your device.
Consu t the device documentation for detai s on the avai ab e options.
Connect/Disconnect
Connect or disconnect your camera.
Take Picture
Capture a sti image from the webcam.
Burst
Capture mu tip e images in quick succession. C ick the "Settings" icon to define
the number of images to capture in each burst.
Snapshot
C ick to start the auto-snapshot process with V-sign gesture. If the program
detects the V-sign gesture after taking a picture with peop e's face, it wi
continue to detect whether there is b ink in the picture or not. If a b ink exists,
a mention message wi pop up and ask you to save or cance the picture.
Record Video
Begin capturing video from your camera. The button wi change to "Stop
Recording" whi e capturing. C ick it again to stop capturing. The recording time
wi show at the top of the capture preview section.

Record Audio
C ick this button to capture audio from your camera. The button wi change to
"Stop Recording" whi e capturing. C ick it again to stop capturing. The recording
time wi be shown at the top of the capture preview window.
Live Annotation
Add annotations to the ive video. After annotations have been added, you can
c ick "Take Picture" to save them as a sti image; or you can a so c ick "Record
Video" before you start to record the entire annotation process as a video c ip.
Preview Media Files
Launch the Photo Viewer or Media P ayer to view the se ected photos or videos
from the current a bum.
Find Tar et
Go to the ocation where you archive your captured fi es.
Fun Frame Module
The Fun Frame function can persona ize your photos with various temp ates and ayouts.
Just choose your favorite temp ate or ayout to customize your photos and c ick to print it out
or send it to your fami y and friends.
Snap shot
C ick to start the auto-snapshot process with pose detection.

Adjust Bri htness
Drag and drop the s ider to ighten or darken your image.
Adjust Contrast
Drag and drop the s ider to adjust the contrast of a photo manua y.
Adjust Blur
Drag and drop the s ider to smooth rough edges or sharpen fuzzy areas.

Zoom In
En arge the active photo within the preview area.
Zoom Out
Reduce the size of the active photo within the preview area.
Rotate Left 90
Rotate the active photo 90-degrees counter-c ockwise.
Rotate Ri ht 90
Rotate the active photo 90-degrees c ockwise.
Flip
Create a mirror image of the photo.
Undo
Undo the ast action. You can use this command to correct a mistake.
Redo
This command reverses the ast Undo command.
Resize
Resize the active photo. A window wi appear where you can type in the va ues
for photo width and height, or choose to Keep Aspect Ratio.
Crop
Remove unwanted area from the image. Use the Crop Too to define a
rectangu ar or square area. Once the area is defined, the area outside the
se ection wi turn dark. C ick the Crop button ocated under the Preview area to
app y the crop operation.
Q1: My computer cannot detect the web camera when connected with an
extended USB cable.
So ution:
• Connect the web camera direct y to a USB port on your computer. Make sure the
web camera is connected to the USB port at the back of your computer. Some USB
ports at the front of computers may not supp y sufficient power for your web
camera.
Q2: Insufficient system resources reserved for the USB port, causin the system
to be unable to function.
There are too many devices in the system, causing IRQ prob ems with the system's USB
contro er.
Do the fo owing:
 Remove some USB devices from the system.
 Restart the system.
 The computer rea ocates resources.
Q3: The web camera does not li ht up or the computer restarts for no apparent
reason.
You may have a USB device drawing too much power from your computer. This can happen
especia y when connecting USB devices to a passive or se f-powered USB hub. A USB Hub
Power Exceeded dia og box appears.
Try the fo owing:
 Connect the web camera direct y to your computer's USB port.
 Use a USB hub with an externa power supp y.

p ug-ins that a ow you to enhance video qua ity and add video effects in rea time. This
simp y and easy-to-use program wi work with your webcam app ications and video chat
messengers, a owing you to app y frames, effects, themes, and enhancements to your
video.
This manua wa ks through the program’s main functions as we as how to use it together
with webcam app ications and video chat messengers.
Do not forget about the bui d-in He p fi e. You can access it from the He p menu a ong the
top of the program screen. It exp ains each button and option. This manua wi show you
how to perform the most common operations and may not cover every individua command.

1.1 Start Ma ic-i Visual Effects
Before aunching the program, p ease make sure a webcam app ication (such as ArcSoft
WebCam Companion™) or a video chat program is aunched. There are severa ways that
you can aunch Magic-i Visua Effects:
• Doub e-c ick the Magic-i Visua Effects icon on the desktop or right-c ick the icon and
se ect "Open".
• C ick Start -> A Programs -> ArcSoft Magic-i Visua Effects 2 -> Magic-i Visua Effects

• Doub e-c ick the Magic-i Visua Effects icon ocated in the system tray.
• Right-c ick the Magic-i Visua Effects icon in the system tray and se ect "Launch
Ma ic-i Visual Effects".


 Note: For more information about the right-click menu, please refer to "Chapter 3

1.2 Exit Ma ic-i Visual Effects
• C ick the "Close" button in the upper right-hand corner of the app ication window to
minimize the program to the system tray. Magic-i Visua Effects continues to run in
the background, a owing you to sti preview rea -time video effects within other
app ications.

2. Apply Ma ic-i Visual Effects to Webcam Applications
Before using Magic-i Visua Effects, p ease make sure that:
• A webcam app ication or video chat messenger is aunched.
• The Magic-i Visua Effects is aunched.
2.1 Before You Start
Before app ying any visua effect, you shou d set re evant parameters for your webcam.
1. C ick to go to the Webcam Settin s section.
2. Drag the s ide bars or input a va ue to the Va ue Fie d to change the settings, inc uding
Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation, Sharpness, Gamma, White Ba ance; or c ick the
"Auto" button in each setting to have the program automatica y set the most
ca cu ated va ue. You can a so se ect "Mirror Flip" to horizonta y f ip the se ected
object.
3. You can a so manage your persona webcam profi es with the fo owing too s:
Current Profile
Se ect a profi e from the profi e ist to use as current webcam settings.
Save As
C ick this button and input a name in the dia ogue to save the current settings as a
profi e.
Delete

2.2 Apply Different Visual Effects
Each Magic-i Visua Effects function (Face Tracking, Digita Zoom, Fi ter, Frame,
Theme, Avatar, Enhance, Masque, etc.) can be app ied to your webcam
app ications or video chat messengers such ike Microsoft Windows Live Messenger,
Yahoo Messenger or Skype.
2.2.1 Face Trackin
Face Tracking can enhance a camera’s focusing mechanism by a owing it to
effective y recognize and track the human face as it moves around the screen.
1. C ick to go to the Face Tracking section.
2. Se ect different options to enab e/disab e Face Tracking.
Off – Disab e the Face Tracking feature.
Sin le – Use this option to show a sing e face when severa faces are disp ayed in the

video scene. Check this option and the program wi find the first face. To se ect a
different face, simp y c ick the "Next" button beside.
Multiple – Use this option when severa faces are disp ayed in the video scene. Check
this option and the program wi find the best ang e to disp ay a faces.
2.2.2 3X Di ital Zoom
Digita Zoom provides options for digita manipu ation of your camera.
1. C ick to go to the Digita Zoom section.
2. C ick or to zoom in and out of the video. Zoom in to get a c ose-up view of
the video; zoom out to view the entire video or image.
3. Move the red box to choose the area that disp ays in the webcam app ication or video
chat messenger. You can:
• C ick and drag to move the red box direct y.
• C ick the four directiona keys to move the red box.
4. C ick to undo a changes.


 Note: The digital zoom is control by soft are. The image ill be fuzzy hen you zoom in
is normal.

2.2.3 Filter
You can se ect goofy video effects that wi give you a few extra aughs whi e you
chat on ine
1. C ick to go to the Fi ter section.
2. C ick the effect of your choice to be app ied to your video scene.
3. C ick "No Effect" (the first thumbnai ) to disab e the Fi ter feature.

2.2.4 Theme
This feature adds a fun background i ustration to your webcam video. The program
automatica y resizes borders and other theme e ements to fit your face.
1. C ick to go to the Theme section.
2. Se ect the one you want to app y to your webcam app ication or video chat messenger.
3. C ick "No Effect" (the first thumbnai ) to disab e the Theme feature.
2.2.5 Avatar
This feature ets you se ect an avatar and make it appear as your "virtua se f". The
avatar fo ows your facia expressions whi e you chat.

2.2.6 Enhance
Use the Enhance too s to make your video ook brighter and sharper.
1. C ick to go to the Enhance section.
2. P ace a checkmark behind the too s you want to use and set re evant parameters.
Noise Reduction – C ick and drag the s ider to reduce the noise.
Dynamic Li htin – C ick and drag the s ider to adjust the ighting.
Default – Resume Noise Reduction and Dynamic Lighting va ues to the defau t settings.

Private
C ick this icon to disp ay an image instead of your video scene. The icon changes to . C ick
it to disp ay the video scene. You can a so se ect your own photo to hide the video when you
press the "Private" button. P ease refer to System Settin to earn about how to customize
it.
Mute Microphone
C ick this icon to mute the microphone. Your friend wi not hear what you are saying. The icon
changes to . C ick the icon to enab e the microphone.
System Settin
C ick this icon to set up the effect configuration and se ect private images.

Effects
C ick the check box to se ect the modu es you want. Drag and drop the modu e order in the
main screen. You can a so use buttons provided by the program: c ick to move the
se ected modu e to the top; c ick to move it up; c ick to move it down; c ick to
move the modu e to bottom; and c ick to reset the modu es’ avai abi ity and to order by
defau t.
Private
C ick to add an image to the photo tray. When the private option is enab ed, the
se ected image wi be shown instead of the video scene. C ick to remove the
se ected image from the photo tray.
When ready, c ick "OK" to save the settings; or c ick "Cancel" at any time to quit without
saving.
*Note: The Launch WebCam Companion option only appears if ArcSoft WebCam
Companion™ as installed prior to launching Magic-i Visual Effects. ArcSoft WebCam
