1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Purpose of the document
This document is a complete guide for installation, configuration and commissioning of the wireless
repeaters/receiver for meters with wireless M-Bus protocol (EN13757-4) Code GE552Y053 hereon called
GE552Y053. It is aimed at technical staff with average nowledge of electronics, computers and basic
networ ing principles on TCP/IP and M-bus systems.
The wireless repeaters can acquire the signal from one or more communicating meters, according to the
standard wireless M-BUS (868 and 169) and re-transmit the data received to a networ of other devices, in
order to extend the wireless range of the afore-mentioned meters. The data can also be acquired by the
GE552Y058 datalogger. Every repeater handles up to 500 meters and can cover a distance of 500 m in open
air and 40m inside buildings. The plastic case, with a simple and elegant design, the fully retractable
electrical connections and antennas built into the device itself ma e the repeater suitable for wall
installations on view. Commissioning of the repeaters is facilitated by the software tool it and LEDs, which
indicate the intensity of the signal. The search for the best point of installation is also made easier by the
possibility to power the device via USB, thus ma ing movement possible during the search for a better
signal/distance compromise. A it to extend the protection rating to IP65 is available as an optional; this
allows outdoor installation.

3. ASPECT OF THE GE552Y053
3.1 Description of the GE552Y053
The device uses a technology that allows the wireless M-BUS networ s to be extended. In fact, the
antennas automatically establish the connection with each other, which allows the best signal quality and,
on receipt of the wireless M-BUS frames, propagate them to the GE552Y058 datalogger. If one of the
antennas is switched off or obscured, if possible, the networ will be re-created in a way that all of the
antennas have a pathway to follow to the datalogger. In this way, the antenna acts li e a multi-hop
repeater. Along with this functionality it is also possible to add the introduction of a list of wireless M-BUS
devices into the GE552Y053 ,which represent a white-list. In this way, if installation ta es place in an area
where more than 500 wireless M-BUS devices are received, the antenna will only consider the devices
under its own competence.

4. WALL MOUNTING AND PASSING OF CABLES
Before making any connection, remove the power supply, complete the wiring, close the lid of the
device and the power the Repeater.

GE552Y053 repeater devices are supplied with MESH id=1 and channel 13;ma e sure that all repeaters
and/or GE552Y058 have the same MESH id and radio channel through the GE552Y056 software.

6. CONFIGURATION OF THE REPEATERS NETWOR
1. Power GE552Y058, wait for start-up, connect to the WEB interface and start scanning antennas and
devices following the product manual.
2. Power the first GE552Y053 device to be installed and move to a minimum distance of 5 m from the
GE552Y058
3. The GE552Y053 blue LED flashes to show the device is searching for GE552Y058
4. Once connected, it shows the quality of the MESH radio signal with respect to the gateway through
switch-on of the front green LEDs, 1 = poor, 2 = sufficient, 3 = good, 4 = excellent reception
5. Position GE552Y053 in a place that meets the signal value>= 2 and the reception of all wireless
MBUS devices expected to be received with this antenna.
6. Chec that the wireless MBUS devices to be received reach the GE552Y053 through the GE552Y058
WEB interface or through the GE552Y056 software and a PC connected to the antenna via USB
7. Fix the GE552Y053 and power a second repeater, remaining at a distance of at least 5 metres from
the first GE552Y053 and from the GE552Y058
8. The blue LED of the latter flashes to signal searching for GE552Y058,which can also ta e place by
connection through the GE552Y053, using the MESH networ
9. It shows the quality of the MESH radio signal with respect to the gateway through switch-on of the
front LEDs; proceed as for the first GE552Y053.
By default, the scanning phase has duration of 13 hours. It can be modified through the GE552Y058
There can be several independent GE552Y053 networ s in the same building. In this case, it is
necessary that the networ s have different MESH ID and/or channel for each group of GE552Y053
and relative GE552Y058.These parameters can be modified through the GE552Y056 software
installed on a PC and connected via USB to the GE552Y053.Refer to the SW manual for details.
If more than 500 wireless MBUS devices are received or some devices are received from other
plants, it may be necessary to ma e the repeater selective. To do this, it is possible to load a list of
wireless MBUS devices, mar ed by their serial number, into the device through the GE552Y056
software. In this way, the repeater will receive the data exclusively from the devices on the list.
